I rubbed my previously injured hands and feet, having just fallen from the Corpse Pit above. Thankfully, the wounds hadn't worsened.
"Well, since I'm down here, I might as well exorcise these Undead!" I shook my head and sighed inwardly. I cleared a space in the Corpse Pit and took out a growth lamp from my belongings, lighting it and placing it in front of me. Sitting cross-legged, I pressed my palms together and recited the Rebirth Sutra with a solemn expression: "All Things Have Spirits, All Things Have Souls. All Things Have Fate, All Lives Have an End. Do Not Be Attached to the Mortal World. Born in the Mortal Realm, Return to the Underworld. All Things Have Causes, In the Next Life, There Will Be Consequences. Namo Amitabha Buddha!"
The Buddhist Power within me infused the Rebirth Sutra, giving my voice a hint of spiritual resonance that made it easier to cleanse the Grievance from the Undead and guide them to reincarnation in the Underworld.
As my voice echoed through the Corpse Pit, wisps of gray Grievance floated out from the Skeletons, lingering in mid-air. These Skeletons had spent countless years in the ancient tomb's Corpse Pit; their souls had long since dissipated, leaving only deep resentment towards the tomb's master. It was that very master who had ordered their execution and disposal into this Corpse Pit to accompany him in death.
This resentment was deeply etched into their bones; even though their souls had vanished, the Grievance within them would not disappear.
Of course, there were also human souls drifting in the air—those of the Grave Robbers and Yin-Yang Masters who had perished in the tomb. As for the American Soldiers, although their souls were present as well, they worshiped Jesus. Thus, even upon hearing my recitation of the Rebirth Sutra, they would not respond.
"All Things Have Spirits, All Things Have Souls. All Things Have Fate, All Lives Have an End. Do Not Be Attached to the Mortal World. Born in the Mortal Realm, Return to the Underworld. All Things Have Causes, In the Next Life, There Will Be Consequences. Namo Amitabha Buddha!" I continued to recite the Buddhist Scriptures for the Departed with a sacred expression, completely unaware of what was happening around me. However, one thing caught my attention: as I repeatedly chanted the Rebirth Sutra, I noticed that my Buddhist Relic was rapidly melting away into a vast surge of Buddhist Power that flowed into my Dantian, strengthening my Buddhist Sect.
"Good deeds truly bring good rewards!" I felt a surge of joy within me; at this rate, I would completely refine my Buddhist Relic in no time. My understanding of Buddhism could elevate from beginner to mastery level—what a significant difference that would be!
The Buddhist Sect also classifies magical power into levels: Monk, High Monk, Dharmic Manifestation, Vajra, Bodhisattva, and Buddha.
Currently, my Buddhist Power was at the Monk level. Once I refined my Buddhist Relic completely, I would reach Dharmic Manifestation level and achieve my own Dharmic Manifestation. The cultivation of Dharmic Manifestation within the Buddhist Sect is equivalent to that of a True Master in Daoist Sect.
"I never expected I would be so adept at cultivating Buddhist Power! The past decade or so was truly wasted!" I shook my head as memories of those years spent practicing Daoist arts flooded back; I had only reached Cultivator Title then and was still inferior to my current abilities. A wave of regret washed over me as I began to question my life choices.
"I can't let my thoughts wander; I need to focus on chanting!" I noticed that the flame of the Longevity Lamp flickered dangerously close to extinguishing. Quickly shaking my head to clear my mind of distractions, I gathered my focus once more.
"Eh? This monk actually has the leisure to exorcise these Undead. His character is quite commendable! Let's not disturb him!" The Taoist Masters near the Corpse Pit, seeing my actions, hurriedly left the area and walked deeper into the ancient tomb. Soon, I was the only one left near the Corpse Pit.
I earned their recognition because, despite the presence of the Nine-Dragon Cauldron in the tomb, I was able to forgo the opportunity to compete for it and focus solely on exorcising the Undead in the Corpse Pit. Not every monk can do that. Unfortunately, they did not know that I was forcibly pushed into the Corpse Pit by Yu Yuanhang, and my actions were entirely compelled.
Meanwhile, Yu Yuanhang and his group had already breached the Bronze Door and entered the palace. So far, everything had gone smoothly without any casualties. It should be noted that the last two groups that attempted to enter here had all perished; it remained to be seen what would happen this time.
Torches were lit inside the palace, illuminating everything around. In the center of the palace stood a Jade Coffin, but no one paid much attention to it; all eyes were on a Golden Glimmering Giant Cauldron placed in a corner of the palace.
"Is this really the Nine-Dragon Cauldron?" someone asked in confusion. After all, the Nine-Dragon Cauldron was a legendary treasure, and no one had ever seen its true form; most people had only heard rumors about it.
"It is said that there are nine Five-Clawed Golden Dragons carved on the exterior of the Nine-Dragon Cauldron, with their heads facing the mouth of the cauldron, breathing dragon flames inside. That is why this giant cauldron is called the Nine-Dragon Cauldron!" someone stroked their chin and pretended to be knowledgeable as they spoke with an air of superiority.
"Let's go take a look!" Some Yin-Yang Masters, confident in their powerful abilities and outnumbering others, couldn't contain themselves and quickly made their way toward the Nine-Dragon Cauldron.
Jin Yuan looked at the Golden Glimmering Giant Cauldron with excitement; she was eager to rush over immediately. However, Yu Yuanhang stood still, so she didn't dare act recklessly. Instead, she asked curiously, "Shopkeeper, aren't we going over? That's the Nine-Dragon Cauldron!"
"There's no rush! The Nine-Dragon Cauldron isn't so easy to take!" Yu Yuanhang replied calmly. His gaze inadvertently swept toward the Jade Coffin; he sensed a hint of danger emanating from it. This was also why he refrained from acting hastily.
Among the Yin-Yang Masters in the ancient tomb, only a few remained behind while others rushed forward eagerly. The ones who stayed exchanged glances and quickly formed a team of over fifty people. Among them, aside from Qu Liang, whose abilities were mediocre, everyone else was at least a True Master level or higher, including four Master Title experts—Yu Yuanhang being one of them.
Yang Xiaochao noticed Liu Yunchong leading his Grave Robbers toward the Nine-Dragon Cauldron and his expression darkened. He turned to Wu Jingye beside him and coldly said, "Wu Jingye, where are your Zombies? I haven't seen a single one! Are you trying to fool us?"
"Hmph! Yang Xiaochao, believe it or not; I Wu Jingye have not deceived you!" Wu Jingye replied with a cold snort, not very polite at all. Although Wu Jingye had agreed to accompany Yang Xiaochao into the tombs, he was not his subordinate and did not have to answer Yang Xiaochao's loud inquiries. Having fulfilled his promise, Wu Jingye cupped his hands toward Yang Xiaochao and said, "Yang Xiaochao, I've done what I needed to do; I'm taking my leave!"
Wu Jingye quickly left Yang Xiaochao and his group, making his way to the front of Yu Yuanhang's Yin-Yang Master team. Someone recognized Wu Jingye's identity and allowed him to join them.
"Gold-Eating Mouse, what should we do now?" one of Yang Xiaochao's subordinates asked. Yang Xiaochao was the leader of this group, and although they were eager to approach the Nine-Dragon Cauldron, they dared not act without his command.
Yang Xiaochao shot a glance filled with murderous intent at Wu Jingye before quickly averting his gaze. His eyes flickered as he waved his hand and said, "Let's go over there!"
With that, Yang Xiaochao led his Grave Robber companions toward the golden giant cauldron.
