Outside the Bronze Door, the swirling Black Ghostly Aura coalesced once more, taking on the form of the Ghost General from before.
"Haha, the flesh and blood of these Stinky Taoists is still delicious!" The Ghost General extended his crimson tongue and licked his lips. Before him lay a dozen shriveled corpses, the remains of the Yin-Yang Masters who had been caught in the Eerie Aura. The Ghost General had consumed the Yang Qi from these Yin-Yang Masters, causing the ghostly faces on his body to quiet down, and his previously turbulent aura began to stabilize.
"Ghost General, get in here!" A voice bellowed from within the Jade Coffin. Upon hearing that voice, the Ghost General's body trembled, fear evident in his eyes.
In a flash, the Ghost General appeared before the Jade Coffin, kneeling on one knee with his gaze fixed on the ground. His voice trembled with trepidation as he said, "Master!"
"Hmph! Ghost General, I entrusted you with guarding this palace, yet you allowed these intruders to disturb my sweet dreams. Do you wish to die?" A reprimanding voice echoed from within the Jade Coffin. An arm reached out from inside, raising a hand to strike heavily at the top of the Ghost General's head.
"Ah! Master, spare me!" The Ghost General let out a shriek. He sensed the incoming palm but dared not evade it; he took the blow head-on.
The impact caused him to stagger, and he spat out a mouthful of Black Blood. The ghostly faces on his body twisted in agony, emitting tortured wails as they struggled to escape.
"Return! All of you, return!" The Ghost General's expression turned vicious as he pointed his fingers into the eyes of those ghostly faces, forcing them back into his body.
After about a minute, the ghostly faces finally quieted down. The Ghost General let out a long breath and explained, "Master, my body has just taken shape. I was nourishing my soul within the Nine-Dragon Cauldron and didn't have time to drive away these intruders. I hope for your forgiveness!"
"Hmph! You need not explain yourself to me. If it happens again, I will simply destroy you!" A cold snort came from within the Jade Coffin. The arm withdrew back inside as it continued, "Recently, this palace has been rather restless. Go out and gather intelligence; I want to see who is plotting against my palace! Before long, I want to hear your report!"
"Yes, Master!" The Ghost General quickly responded before vanishing from before the Jade Coffin and heading toward the Tomb.
"If anyone discovers the Nine-Dragon Cauldron, I will have to adjust my plans slightly!" The voice of Jade Coffin muttered to itself as its lid closed once more. At that moment, a chilling wind swept through the palace, extinguishing all torches and sealing shut the Bronze Door once again.
In a teahouse in Mianyang City, Yang Xiaochao sat with four other leaders of Grave Robbers, sipping tea together.
The oldest among them yawned and spoke with some dissatisfaction, "Gold-Eating Mouse, what’s the matter that you called us here so late at night?"
Yang Xiaochao leisurely took a sip of tea and replied, "You all remember the ancient tomb from this morning, right?"
"Oh, what about that tomb? Are you saying the Yang Clan Tomb Raiders can't handle it?" one person asked directly. They all knew Yang Xiaochao's character; if he wasn't dealing with something important, he wouldn't have invited them for tea, especially at this hour.
"This tomb is not simple. Over forty American Soldiers have died inside. The Yang Clan Tomb Raiders really can't handle it!" Yang Xiaochao nodded and admitted it. He took another sip of tea and continued, "I called everyone here to discuss collaborating among our five families to take down that tomb!"
After finishing his statement, Yang Xiaochao looked up to observe the expressions of the four people in front of him. They were calmly drinking tea, showing no interest in collaboration. Yang Xiaochao had anticipated this reaction.
"There’s a Nine-Dragon Cauldron inside that tomb!" Yang Xiaochao said after another sip of tea.
"What? There’s a Nine-Dragon Cauldron in there?" The four men could no longer remain calm upon hearing Yang Xiaochao's words; their expressions were filled with excitement. The corners of Yang Xiaochao's mouth curled slightly; he had been equally shocked when he first heard this news from Wu Jingye.
The Nine-Dragon Cauldron had long been a myth within the Grave Robber community. It was said to be a spiritual artifact that could traverse freely between ancient tombs, and no one could capture its true whereabouts.
Long ago, a Grave Robber accidentally obtained the Nine-Dragon Cauldron. On his first night sleeping inside it, he found himself in an untouched ancient tomb the next morning. That Grave Robber made a fortune enough to last a lifetime and subsequently retired from the Grave Robber profession, leaving behind this legend.
There was also another absurd tale about the Nine-Dragon Cauldron, claiming it contained an elixir of immortality. Anyone who drank from it would become ageless. Although such tales seemed ridiculous, there would always be those willing to believe.
Of course, these were just stories; no one knew how much truth lay within them. However, the fact that such legends persisted was enough to signify many things.
"Everyone, should we collaborate this time?" Yang Xiaochao spoke up again. The Yang Clan Tomb Raider truly couldn't handle this ancient tomb alone; otherwise, they wouldn't have sought cooperation with the other four families. Such a treasure as the Nine-Dragon Cauldron was best enjoyed alone.
The four leaders of the Grave Robbers quickly calmed their excited emotions. They lowered their heads in contemplation, weighing the pros and cons of the collaboration. After a while, they exchanged glances, greed flickering in their eyes, and said, "Let's collaborate this once!"
With the intention to cooperate established, the five of them began discussing the details of their partnership. Given the significance of this matter, they agreed to finalize everything before heading underground to rob the tomb.
At midnight, in a hotel in Mianyang, Wu Jingye changed into a clean outfit. He sat quietly on the bed, looking at the two people in front of him.
The two individuals, a man and a woman, were a couple in their thirties and well-known experts from the Daoist Sect. Wu Jingye's entry into the Onmyoji Association was thanks to their recommendation. This time, when Wu Jingye was captured by Yang Xiaochao, it was also through their connections that he was rescued.
"Thank you both for your help once again!" Wu Jingye said sincerely. Although these two were not older than him, their cultivation levels surpassed his own, which is why he addressed them as seniors.
