“Mr. Wu, impressive tactics!” Dillingchar felt a sigh of relief as he watched the Demon Baby being defeated. He approached Wu Jingye, his previous disdain replaced by awe.
Wu Jingye remained calm, sheathing his Peach Wood Sword and saying coolly, “Dillingchar, if you trust me, take your people and come with us to the Bronze Door right now! It will be too late if we wait any longer!”
Dillingchar's eyes flickered; he greedily glanced back at the stone chamber and asked, “Mr. Wu, can we wait just a few more minutes?”
Wu Jingye shook his head and walked outside the stone chamber with the four Yin-Yang Masters, not looking back as he said, “Dillingchar, do as you wish! We’ll go ahead!”
“Mr. Wu, wait for me!” Having witnessed the terror of the Demon Baby, Dillingchar dared not leave Wu Jingye's side. He hurried after them with five Mercenaries in tow, ordering the remaining Mercenaries to continue searching for treasures inside the stone chamber.
“Mr. Wu, the corpses in the Corpse Pit have started to awaken!” one of the Yin-Yang Masters reported. The Corpse Qi above the Corpse Pit grew increasingly agitated, with over a dozen corpses rising from within and beginning to crawl out.
“What’s happening? How can these corpses still be alive? Impossible! This can’t be!” Dillingchar's face turned pale as he was struck with shock. There were two or three thousand corpses in the Corpse Pit; if they all awakened, it would create a terrifying tide of undead.
“Damn it! We need to get out of this Corpse Pit fast!” Dillingchar said with a trembling voice. Just imagining such a scene made his scalp tingle; he finally understood why Wu Jingye and the others were in such a hurry to leave.
“We're heading to the Bronze Door!” Wu Jingye frowned, quickening his pace as they all hurried toward the Bronze Door.
Meanwhile, Liu Yunchong and his group had reached another stone chamber. The six of them skillfully placed Black Powder on the stone door, and with a loud explosion, it shattered into pieces.
“Damn it!” Hearing the loud noise from nearby, Dillingchar cursed loudly. He looked down into the Corpse Pit and saw more and more corpses awakening.
Dillingchar pulled out his walkie-talkie and said, “This is Dillingchar. All Mercenaries are to head to the Bronze Door immediately at top speed! Over!”
“Received! Over!” Responses from Mercenaries came through his walkie-talkie one after another. All Mercenaries stopped what they were doing and rushed toward the Bronze Door.
“Captain Mike, how should we deal with these Grave Robbers?” one of the Mercenaries asked. They had also noticed the awakened corpses in the Corpse Pit. Captain Mike pondered for a moment before replying, “Let them go; let them fend for themselves! We need to protect Mr. Dillingchar!”
The Mercenaries communicated in English, and Liu Yunchong realized they couldn't understand what the Mercenaries were saying. All they saw was the Mercenaries suddenly leaving their sight with remarkable agility.
"Those American Soldiers must be heading to the Bronze Door!" Earthwalker Dragon speculated, watching the direction in which the Mercenaries had departed.
"What should we do now, Senior Brothers?" one of the Grave Robbers asked Earthwalker Dragon and Cloudwalker. The six of them had also noticed the corpses in the Corpse Pit, but right in front of them was a stone chamber that had just been opened, likely hiding treasures inside.
The eyes of the four Grave Robbers sparkled with greedy anticipation. If it weren't for Earthwalker Dragon and Cloudwalker being present, they would have rushed into the stone chamber already.
Earthwalker Dragon exchanged a glance with Liu Yunchong, and they nodded. "Let's search the stone chamber quickly and efficiently! Once we finish this, we’ll head back the way we came!"
"Yes, Senior Brother!" the four Grave Robbers replied in unison, eagerly rushing into the stone chamber. However, they did not immediately begin searching for treasures. Instead, they took out a candle from their belongings, lit it, and placed it in the corner of the room.
The two stone chambers were structurally similar, with some broken Funerary Objects scattered on the floor and a massive stone coffin positioned in the center.
Earthwalker Dragon led everyone to stand respectfully before the coffin and sincerely said, "We are six disciples without a penny to our name. We seek to borrow money to pave our way. If we prosper in the future, we will surely repay our debt! We humbly request assistance from the Deceased!"
"Humbly requesting assistance from the Deceased!" Liu Yunchong echoed as they bowed toward the coffin. At that moment, an inexplicable chill swept through the stone chamber, causing the flame of the candle in the corner to flicker uncertainly as if it might extinguish at any moment.
Among Grave Robbers, there was a saying: Before robbing a tomb, light a lamp! Bow to the deceased and observe the wick! If the wick is steady, act decisively! If it goes out, retreat!
Seeing the flickering wick, a fierce determination flashed in Liu Yunchong's eyes. He stepped forward, took out a dagger from his belongings, and forcefully cut into his left palm.
Crimson blood gushed from his wound as Liu Yunchong quickly clenched his left fist to let the blood flow down his palm along the sealing edge of the coffin, leaving a striking trail of blood.
In just over ten seconds, Liu Yunchong had drenched the entire coffin with his blood. He returned to his original position and bowed again toward the coffin, sincerely stating, "I am Cloudwalker. With my blood as an offering, I borrow wealth from the Deceased. If I prosper in the future, I will surely repay my debt!"
Liu Yunchong left his blood on the stone coffin, hoping that the Deceased inside would remember his presence. If one day Liu Yunchong failed to return to repay a favor, the Deceased could follow this trace to find him.
As soon as Liu Yunchong's words fell, the cold wind in the stone chamber suddenly ceased, and the candle flames in the corner stabilized.
The Earthwalker Dragon let out a long sigh of relief and patted Liu Yunchong on the shoulder, speaking softly, "Cloudwalker, we owe you an apology!"
Liu Yunchong had left his blood on the coffin to avoid being haunted by the Deceased in the future. According to the unspoken rules among Grave Robbers, he would not take anything from within the stone chamber. By not claiming any treasures, he naturally had no need to return a favor later.
Liu Yunchong shook his head dismissively and said, "Senior Brother, you all hurry up and get started. I'll keep watch outside the stone chamber!"
With that, Liu Yunchong stepped out of the stone chamber. He didn't want to linger inside; if he discovered something valuable, his greed might get the better of him.
Seeing Liu Yunchong exit, Earthwalker Dragon's eyes gleamed with greed as he addressed the four Grave Robbers beside him, "The treasures inside the coffin are not to be kept for yourselves or hidden away. We are brothers; everyone gets a share!"
"Understood, Senior Brother!" the four Grave Robbers replied in unison. Betrayal over treasure was common among Grave Robbers, and Liu Yunchong feared such treachery, which was why he had called his fellow disciples for assistance.
"Let's get to work!" Earthwalker Dragon waved his hand and led the four Grave Robbers as they used specialized iron rods to pry open the coffin lid.
