"Dinglingling~~ Dinglingling~~" My phone kept ringing incessantly. With my eyes closed, I fumbled around for a while before finally finding my phone in my pants pocket.
"Hello, who is it?" I pressed the answer button and held the phone to my ear, groggily asking.
"Jiang Ling, it's Qu Liang. Are you still not awake?" On the other end, Qu Liang's sweet voice came through, tinged with annoyance. "Didn't we agree to meet at the train station at eleven this morning? It's already ten, and you're still not up!"
"Ah! Is that so?" Realizing that Qu Liang was indeed upset, my mind instantly cleared. I sat up in bed and rubbed my temples. "Give me a moment, Qu Liang, I'll be there soon!"
"Hmph! I'll give you two more hours. If you’re not here by noon, I’ll leave without you!" Qu Liang huffed angrily before hanging up.
I shook my head and glanced at the time on my phone—ten fourteen in the morning. I couldn't believe I had slept for over ten hours.
Grabbing a change of clothes, I dashed to the bathroom. While washing up inside, I shouted out, "Dad, can you take me to the train station later? I'm going out on a trip with Qu Liang!"
"Oh! Jiang Ling, look at you! Just graduated and already going on a trip with your girlfriend. Shouldn't your old man give you some tips?" My dad appeared at the bathroom door, knocking playfully.
With a toothbrush in my mouth, I opened the bathroom door just a crack and poked my head out to give him an eye roll. "Old driver, get lost! I don't have time for your lessons! Dad, can you pack a few sets of clothes into my backpack? I'm in a hurry!"
With that, I shut the door and continued washing up. My dad walked away, shaking his head and muttering, "These young people today won’t even let us elders teach them a thing or two. Who knows where they learned their skills!"
After spending over ten minutes getting ready and having breakfast, I slung my backpack over my shoulder and prepared to head to the train station.
I couldn't quite remember what exactly I had planned with Qu Liang, but just to be safe, I decided to bring along my Demon-Subduing Staff. You never know when you might encounter something troublesome; it would be good to have protection for both myself and Qu Liang.
When I arrived at the train station, it was just ten minutes shy of noon. I quickly called Qu Liang.
Once the call connected, I asked, "Hey Qu Liang, I'm at the train station entrance. Where are you? I'll come find you!"
"You’re wearing a white casual outfit, right? I can see you!" On the other end of the phone, Qu Liang said. I quickly looked around and soon spotted her figure. She was wearing a white dress, her hair tied in a ponytail, looking particularly lovely.
"Hello, Uncle!" Qu Liang ran over and greeted my dad with a nod. She grabbed my hand and shot me a fierce glare, saying, "Jiang Ling, the train leaves at twelve-thirty, and you just got here! Do you not take my words seriously?"
Feeling a bit guilty, I touched my ear and replied, "Qu Liang, I'm sorry! I drank too much last night and completely forgot!"
Qu Liang pinched my hand hard enough to make me almost cry. She then feigned innocence and smiled at my dad, saying, "Uncle, we’re leaving now! Goodbye!"
With that, Qu Liang dragged me toward the train station. My dad watched us leave and shook his head, saying, "Jiang Ling's girlfriend is pretty but a bit fierce. I wonder if Jiang Ling can handle this girl."
After we picked up our train tickets, we barely made it onto the train. We had hard seat tickets and sat next to each other. Across from us sat an elderly man in his sixties, while the other seat remained empty.
I placed our bags on the luggage rack before finally sitting down to examine our train tickets. I discovered that our destination was Mianyang Train Station in Sichuan Province.
"Qu Liang, what are we going to do in Mianyang?" I asked, putting the ticket into my pocket with confusion.
Qu Liang shot me an annoyed look and said angrily, "You really forgot everything from yesterday!"
I nodded sheepishly and replied, "You know I drank a lot last night; I completely blacked out! Can you remind me again?"
Qu Liang sighed and leaned closer to me, whispering in my ear once more.
It turned out that Qu Liang had invited me to go treasure hunting. Previously, while sealing the snake demon's tomb, we had obtained a treasure map. After Qu Liang’s relentless efforts, she finally deciphered it and confirmed that the treasure marked on the map was hidden somewhere deep in the mountains of Mianyang City.
Qu Liang pulled out the treasure map from her bag and spread it out in front of me. I saw that it was covered in red circles and densely packed with notes—all thanks to Qu Liang’s hard work.
"Qu Liang, you've worked hard! I wonder what kind of treasure is hidden there!" I handed the map back to her and held her hand warmly.
Qu Liang allowed me to hold her hand as she rested her head on my shoulder and said, "I looked through some historical records and found that the mountain range is a famous burial site from ancient times. The place marked on the treasure map is likely a tomb, but I wonder if someone has already gotten there first!"
"Don't worry! With our luck, we definitely won't come back empty-handed!" I replied, wrapping my arm around Qu Liang's shoulders.
Qu Liang and I leaned against each other, whispering sweet nothings, completely absorbed in our own world. The old man sitting across from us couldn't take it anymore. He grabbed his backpack and moved to an empty seat nearby, grumbling, "Today's young people have no manners at all, hugging and cuddling in public places—what kind of behavior is that!"
Although Qu Liang and I heard the old man's words, we didn't pay them any mind because we were just chatting and not doing anything inappropriate.
In the deep mountains of Mianyang, there were more than twenty American Soldiers dressed in camouflage uniforms, holding smuggled submachine guns as they searched for something in the mountains.
The leader of the American Soldiers held a photocopy of a treasure map. If Qu Liang saw that photocopy, she would definitely notice that it was identical to the treasure map in her hands.
After studying it for a long time, the leader finally confirmed the location of the treasure. He said in English, "The treasure is eighty meters ahead. All team members, follow my instructions and search in a fan-shaped formation. Let's move out!"
After more than ten minutes, they finally found the entrance to the tomb. However, this group of American Soldiers did not enter; instead, they marked the spot and stationed someone to guard it.
"Keep an eye on the tomb; I'm going out to bring Mr. Wu and the others over!" the leader instructed in English before taking two soldiers with him as they left the deep mountains and headed outside.
