I crawled back to the shore, lying on the ground in pain, not wanting to move at all. I cautiously watched the Evil Insect Master not far away, afraid he might suddenly attack me; I was completely defenseless at that moment. 0

"Could the Evil Insect Master have gone mad?" I thought to myself. I saw him sitting on the ground, his head drooping onto his chest. If it weren't for his body trembling occasionally, I would have thought he was a corpse sitting there. 0

I looked up to see the battle unfolding on the other side. The ragtag group brought by the Evil Insect Master had been scattered by Jiao Zhi Hong's subordinates, many of whom had already fled the dock, leaving behind a scene of chaos and the cries of the wounded, evidence of the fight that had taken place here. 0

As more and more people joined the fray, the tide of battle shifted for Lin Ziran and the group of beasts. The initial disadvantage was slowly being reversed, with more and more beasts being slain by Lin Ziran. Victory began to tilt in their favor. 0

"Whew, that was really intense! But maybe a bit too intense; I almost died!" I exhaled deeply, recalling my earlier fight with that Bronze Corpse. A wave of fear washed over me; thankfully, I had survived in the end. 0

After resting for a while, I suddenly heard footsteps approaching. I looked up and was surprised to see Yu Yuanhang walking toward me. Confused, I wondered to myself, "What is Yu Yuanhang doing here?" 0

Yu Yuanhang merely glanced at me without any intention of engaging. He walked straight toward the Evil Insect Master, saying, "You are not the Evil Insect Master! Where is the real Evil Insect Master!" 0

I had already begun to suspect that this person was not the true Evil Insect Master. Someone claiming to be him should be adept at controlling insects rather than creating things like Walking Corpses. Moreover, this Black Robed Man could only control one Bronze Corpse and seven Walking Corpses, and he clearly lacked the strength to dominate his own group of beasts. 0

These two clues were enough to convince me that this black-robed figure was not the true mastermind behind it all—the Evil Insect Master. 0

"Haha! Evil Insect Master! Haha! How ridiculous! I am not some Evil Insect Master! I'm just a nameless pawn under his command!" The black-robed man sitting on the ground let out a wild laugh, becoming increasingly deranged. He suddenly got up from the ground and flung off his black robe, revealing his true appearance. 0

Sparse gray-white hair, a shriveled body, and dim eyes—strangely enough, despite being so thin, his belly was quite large, resembling that of a pregnant woman. With such an unappealing appearance, it was no wonder he wore a black robe. 0

"Is this a Living Person or a Walking Corpse?" I couldn't help but voice my thoughts as I looked at the terrifying figure before me. 0

Suddenly, the black-robed man's belly began to bulge and make loud sounds as if something were trying to break free from within. 0

"Stop playing tricks!" Yu Yuanhang said coldly, holding the Demon-Subduing Staff that had been taken from me by the Bronze Corpse. He struck swiftly at the black-robed man's abdomen. 0

"Haha! Stinky monk, the Evil Insect Master is not someone you can see! You might as well give up!" The black-robed man laughed as he faced the incoming Demon-Subduing Staff, not bothering to dodge, his eyes glinting with a hint of relief. 0

The Demon-Subduing Staff hit the black-robed man's belly, tearing through his skin. To my shock, a round object tumbled out of him, resembling a placenta. 0

"What is happening?!" I gasped, looking at the black-robed man's belly and finding it hollow, devoid of organs and intestines. Even the blood that flowed out was black, exuding a strong corpse stench. 0

"Finally free!" The black-robed man glanced at the placenta on the ground, a blissful smile spreading across his face. Then he closed his eyes and fell straight to the ground, becoming a lifeless body. 0

Yu Yuanhang's gaze remained fixed on the placenta, where I could clearly see dozens of thumb-sized black Blood-Sucking Worms wriggling inside. Sensing danger, they desperately tried to escape. 0

Normally, these black Blood-Sucking Worms would need time to cultivate; only when they turned on each other and one remained would they be considered successfully raised. 0

"No wonder he calls himself the Evil Insect Master; he actually raised these worms inside a living person. How wicked!" Yu Yuanhang said with anger in his voice. His eyes filled with killing intent as he swung the Demon-Subduing Staff down onto the placenta, shattering it and releasing an unclear transparent liquid along with the black Blood-Sucking Worms. 0

The Blood-Sucking Worms crawled on the ground, struggling to fly away. Yu Yuanhang quickly brought down the Demon-Subduing Staff again, smashing those black worms into pulp, green juice splattering everywhere and creating a particularly disgusting sight. 0

"Ugh! Don't come near me!" I exclaimed as some of the liquid splattered in front of me, releasing a strange and foul odor. My stomach churned violently, and I nearly vomited. I hurriedly stood up and backed away. 0

Yu Yuanhang did not kill all the Blood-Sucking Worms; he deliberately left one alive to lead him to the Evil Insect Master. That worm took flight into the air and soon disappeared into the night sky. 0

Yu Yuanhang tossed me the Demon-Subduing Staff and said, "Jiang Ling, after you're done here, go back to the shop and find Jin Yuan! She will have work for you. Focus on your training! Don't lose that Demon-Subduing Staff again!" 0

With a flash, Yu Yuanhang disappeared from his spot and chased after the Blood-Sucking Worms. 0

"Damn it! Can you at least clean it before handing it to me?" I exclaimed, holding the Demon-Subduing Staff in my hands, which was covered in black corpse water and green juices, emitting a nauseating stench. I quickly pinched my nose and ran to the riverbank to wash the Demon-Subduing Staff thoroughly. 0

By the time I finished cleaning the Demon-Subduing Staff, Lin Ziran and the others had finally taken down all the beasts. I saw Lin Ziran sitting on the ground, his face unusually pale, likely due to the depletion of his internal mana. 0

"Finally done!" Lin Ziran gasped for breath, his suit stained with blood—some of it his own, but more from the beasts. 0

"Thank you so much, Daoist Lin!" Jiao Zhi Hong looked at Lin Ziran with soft eyes, displaying a rare feminine demeanor that left her subordinates dumbfounded. 0

During the battle, Lin Ziran had fought valiantly against the horde of beasts, his impressive figure completely captivating Jiao Zhi Hong. A figure like hers, a leader of a criminal organization, would only admire those who were powerful. 0

Seeing Jiao Zhi Hong's affectionate gaze, Lin Ziran's eyes darted away, and he stammered in response, "Jiao Zhi Hong, you flatter me!" 0

I watched Lin Ziran and Jiao Zhi Hong with a smile on my face. I never expected that their initial animosity would spark unexpected romantic feelings. 0

"Finally over! Amitabha!" I looked up at the moon above and couldn't help but sincerely chant a Buddhist phrase. I suddenly realized that I was becoming more and more like a monk; perhaps I truly had a connection to Buddhism. 0
