I walked into the Game Room and saw seven or eight machines waiting for players. The noise inside was overwhelming, and colorful lights flashed everywhere, making it hard for me to adjust. I raised my hand slightly to shield my eyes and scanned the room, spotting a figure sitting in the corner, engrossed in a game.
“Bin, Nurse Chu is looking for you. She wants you to step outside!” I approached and noticed a boy, no more than two years old, wearing a bellyband, completely absorbed in playing Whac-A-Mole, ignoring my presence entirely.
“No way! A kid this young has a mental illness?!” I muttered under my breath as I reached out to pat the boy on the head. Suddenly, a voice came from behind me: “Don’t touch him!”
I turned around to see a young man in his twenties standing there, dressed in a striped Patient Gown. I hadn’t seen him in the lounge earlier.
“Wait a minute, isn’t there only thirteen patients in this hospital? Why is there an extra person?” I thought to myself, feeling an unsettling chill run down my spine. Could it be that I was seeing ghosts? Was that child a ghost?
I forced myself to suppress my fear and turned my stiff neck back toward where the boy had been sitting, only to find that he had vanished. The sudden disappearance of that child was the most terrifying thing of all.
“Run! There’s a ghost!” I shouted and bolted toward the exit. This was ridiculous; I felt utterly powerless and had no chance against any ghost.
Bin reacted faster than I did at the door. He flashed me a mischievous grin and said, “Number 58, you just stay in there and play with Lele!”
With that, he turned and dashed outside, casually shutting the door behind him. I heard the click of the lock as he secured it.
“What the hell are you doing?! Are you trying to kill me? Open the door!” My anger surged as I rushed over and pounded on the locked door, but it wouldn’t budge.
“Brother, don’t you want to play with me?” Suddenly, Lele appeared beside me. It was then that I got a good look at his face—pale as death with not a hint of color, pitch-black eyes devoid of whites, jagged teeth stained with dark marks. He wore a deep red bellyband and held a large Hammer used for Whac-A-Mole, looking just like something out of a horror movie.
“Lele, let’s talk this out. Can you step back a bit?” My back pressed against the door as I forced myself to calm down, trying to keep my voice steady.
Lele grinned widely, revealing an ugly smile. Although I knew he meant no harm, fear still gripped me. He waved his hammer and said, “Brother, let’s play Whac-A-Mole! You can be the mole while I hit you. How about that?”
"No way! I'm not playing!" I firmly shook my head in refusal. However, Lele didn't care about my answer at all. Without waiting for me to finish, he swung the hammer straight at my head.
"What are you doing?!" I saw the hammer rushing toward me and quickly dodged to the side. The Hammer, wrapped in Eerie Aura, struck the iron door behind me with a loud bang. I turned to look and found a dent had formed on the door. My heart raced; if that Hammer had hit me, I would have been done for.
"Haha, brother, your reaction speed is so fast! This is really fun," Lele exclaimed, waving the Hammer joyfully. He then swung it at me again.
I hurriedly ran away while threatening him, "Ghost, don't make me take action! If I do, you're finished!"
"Haha, this is so interesting!" Lele laughed heartily and quickly caught up to me, swinging the Hammer toward my back. I felt a tremendous force hit me, and I was sent flying, crashing heavily to the ground.
"Damn it, who is this?!" I bit my teeth in pain. When I got up from the ground, I saw someone lying not far away. The person was wearing a Patient Gown with the number 58 on his chest, but he looked terrible. His head was beaten to a pulp, and his Patient Gown was soaked in blood. If it weren't for the faint groans coming from his mouth, I would have thought he was dead.
Noticing my presence, he struggled to open his eyes and hoarsely said, "Friend, help me! Please save me!"
"This is really annoying!" Lele suddenly appeared in front of me and swung his Hammer at that person, instantly sending him flying. I heard a scream as his body crashed into a game machine, deforming it upon impact. He fell unconscious again.
"Ghost, you're going too far!" Seeing that person's tragic state filled me with anger that surpassed my fear of Lele. I looked into Lele's eyes and felt a murderous intent rising within me.
Lele seemed to sense the killing intent emanating from me. His smile faded as he said gloomily, "Brother, are you going to kill me too? Am I really that annoying? My dad doesn't want me; he didn't let me be born and even sent these Stinky Taoists after me. Now you hate me too; I hate all of you!"
As he spoke, a drastic change occurred within Lele. Thick Eerie Aura erupted from the top of his head as his body twisted violently, producing an ear-piercing sound of bones grinding against each other.
"I will kill you! I will kill everyone! Roar!" Lele let out a beast-like roar. His neck twisted as two fist-sized heads tore through his skin with a horrifying shriek and slowly emerged from either side of his neck. The two heads were not fully formed yet; their eyes were tightly shut as if they were asleep.
"Ninefold Grudge Infant!" Seeing Lele's transformation made me gasp in shock. The murderous intent in my eyes vanished as guilt replaced it; I shouldn't harbor such feelings toward him because he was already pitiful enough.
Ninefold Grudge Infant Reincarnated for nine lifetimes, yet never becoming human. Lele Each of the heads on his body represents three lifetimes of failed reincarnation, and three heads signify nine lifetimes of not becoming human. Lele With each rebirth, he was struck down, which speaks volumes about the pain he endured. After nine lifetimes, he had lost the chance to be reborn as a human, and the accumulated Grievance erupted, giving rise to the current Ninefold Grudge Infant.
Outside the Game Room, Chuxiubin stood with all the patients, including the deranged Zhao Mingyue. They anxiously watched what was happening inside the Game Room. When they heard a sound resembling a child's cry coming from within, the expressions of those outside grew complex.
Wang Dan wiped the sweat from his forehead and nervously asked, “Nurse Chu, it seems Lele has transformed. Is Jiang Ling going to be okay?”
Chuxiubin shook his head and replied, “I don’t know either!”
Unlike the others' concerns, upon hearing the cries from inside, Zhao Mingyue was filled with ecstasy. She danced around, shouting, “My child is alive! My Lele is alive! He’s right in there!”
It turned out that the ninth reincarnation of the Ninefold Grudge Infant had taken place within Zhao Mingyue.
The sound of the child's cries also reached the monitoring room. Wang Xinyu, hearing that cry, felt his body tremble with fear. He wiped his forehead with a towel and cursed inwardly, “Damn it! Why is there a child's cry? Could that child still be alive? No way! I absolutely cannot let anyone know that child is mine. I need to go to the hospital to confirm!”
A fierce glint flashed in Wang Xinyu's eyes as he greeted Li Hanling. “Captain Li, I have something to take care of outside. I’ll leave this to you!”
With that, Wang Xinyu left the Mental Hospital, driving towards the direction of the Black Market Hospital, where he had previously taken Zhao Mingyue for an abortion.
