"Hey, go die!" the Evil Cat sneered as it jumped off Lu Jie and immediately stuffed the heart it had clawed out into its mouth.
The Evil Cat chewed on Lu Jie's heart with delight. I stood not far away, clearly hearing the crunching sounds it made, even seeing bits of the heart dripping from the corners of its mouth.
The Evil Cat licked the remnants from its lips, a greedy expression on its face as it said, "Hehe, it tastes really good!"
"Does it really taste good?" Lu Jie glared at the Evil Cat with murderous intent, her voice icy.
"How come you're not dead?" I was completely stunned by Lu Jie's words. Looking at her, I noticed that aside from a fist-sized wound in her chest, she seemed otherwise unchanged.
Jiang Bao walked over to me and shot me a glance. " Brother Jiang Ling, Jie is a Zombie. Even without a heart, she won't die!"
"I see!" I stroked my chin and glanced at Jiang Bao. "Jiang Bao, how did you get over here? Weren't you preparing your killing move?"
Jiang Bao crossed his arms. "That Evil Cat swallowed Lu Jie's heart; now even if I don't make a move, it won't live long!"
"Why is that?" I asked curiously.
Jiang Bao explained, "Jie is a Zombie. Her master left a drop of Zombie King's blood in her heart so she could live like a Living Person again!"
"What?! How could there be Zombie King's blood?!" I couldn't help but exclaim loudly upon hearing Jiang Bao's words.
I couldn't help but be shocked because Zombie King's blood is incredibly rare. Even all the Money Swords in my backpack wouldn't compare to a single drop of Zombie King's blood.
The reason Zombie King's blood is so scarce is that only Zombies who have cultivated for over a thousand years can be called Zombie Kings. Additionally, the blood within a Zombie King is limited and contains immense magical power. If too much blood is wasted, the Zombie King's strength would regress by a level, which is why few Zombie Kings are willing to give their blood to others.
Jiang Bao scratched the back of his head and smiled proudly. "If I'm not mistaken, Jie's master should be a Zombie King!"
I was somewhat surprised but nodded nonetheless. If Lu Jie's master really was a Zombie King, it wasn't too far-fetched.
I shifted my gaze back to the Evil Cat and couldn't help but shake my head. "This Evil Cat really is unfortunate; it actually consumed the blood of a Zombie King!"
Although Zombie King's blood possesses immense power, it also harbors potent corpse poison. Lu Jie herself is a Zombie, and with the help of the Zombie King suppressing the poison, she wasn't significantly harmed.
The situation with Evil Cat was completely different from that of Lu Jie, so when it swallowed the blood essence of the Zombie King, it was essentially signing its own death warrant.
"Just wait for your slow demise!" Lu Jie sneered as she glanced at Evil Cat. She retreated back to our side, her body extremely weak; she had to be cautious of any last-ditch efforts Evil Cat might make against her.
At first, Evil Cat didn’t react, but after a dozen seconds, its body began to change.
Red lines appeared all over Evil Cat's body, quickly enveloping it in a web of crimson markings, and it started emitting green smoke as if it were on fire.
"What did you make me eat?" Terror flashed in Evil Cat's eyes as it rolled frantically on the ground, trying to extinguish the red lines on its body. Unfortunately, all efforts were in vain; those red markings could not be snuffed out.
"Ah! I will kill you all!" Black Cat's eyes turned blood-red, driven mad by the burning sensation coursing through its body. It stood up again and leaped toward the three of us.
Evil Cat lunged at Jiang Bao, its front claws swiping toward his chest.
"Jiang Bao, watch out!" Lu Jie had experienced the ferocity of Evil Cat's claws and was worried for Jiang Bao's safety, so she shouted urgently.
Jiang Bao smiled at Lu Jie and said, "Don't worry! This Evil Cat can't hurt me!"
Seeing Evil Cat's claws reaching out toward him, Jiang Bao remained vigilant. He quickly placed three talismans on his Peach Wood Sword and swung it at Evil Cat's claws.
"Ultimate Earth, Mystical Arts Have Methods! Cut!" Jiang Bao shouted as the Peach Wood Sword struck Evil Cat's claws, breaking them with a single blow.
I tightly gripped my Seven Star Mysterious Dragon Sword and stood beside Jiang Bao, initially planning to intervene if he couldn't handle the situation. But when I saw Evil Cat’s broken claws, I knew my help was unnecessary.
I relaxed my grip on the Seven Star Mysterious Dragon Sword and touched my ear, saying, "The Zombie King's corpse poison is indeed formidable!"
Just moments ago, Evil Cat had been so strong; now it was easily defeated. This clearly demonstrated the potency of the Zombie King's corpse poison.
"This is impossible!" Evil Cat stared incredulously at its broken claws but felt no pain at all. It stood up again and glared at the three of us, declaring, "I will not let you go!"
With that, Evil Cat prepared to pounce on us once more.
"Let me finish it!" Seeing the tragic state of the Evil Cat, I felt a pang of sympathy and prepared to put an end to its suffering.
Holding the Seven Star Mysterious Dragon Sword, I pointed the tip at the fallen Evil Cat and cast a Seal, chanting, "Seven Star Sword vanquishes demons, one strike severs fate! Under this sword, the Soul perishes, fate is cut away with one blow! Seven Star Mysterious Dragon Sword, slash!"
As I executed the final Seal, the Seven Star Mysterious Dragon Sword emitted a crisp ringing sound. A white light flashed across the Big Dipper Formation on the blade, and one of its focal points glowed a third brighter.
Against the nearly defeated Evil Cat, I had no intention of using all my strength because I believed that my single strike would be enough to deal with it.
The Seven Star Mysterious Dragon Sword struck the Evil Cat's body, cleaving it in two. The Evil Cat let out a wretched scream as its form instantly turned to ash, dissipating into the air.
"Hmph, you really are quite the good person!" Lu Jie scoffed, casting an annoyed glance at me. She walked over to where the Evil Cat had turned to ashes, placing her right hand on the ground while drawing a strange symbol with her left hand, murmuring incantations under her breath.
After about ten seconds, Lu Jie completed the peculiar symbol. She pressed her left hand onto the ground and shouted loudly, "Corpse King Blood, gather for me!"
As soon as Lu Jie finished speaking, thin red threads of blood emerged from the ashes of the Evil Cat, converging in her hands.
About a minute later, Lu Jie held a deep red blood droplet the size of a fingertip. Standing beside her, I could clearly feel the immense energy contained within it.
I looked at Lu Jie with some envy and said, "Is this the essence of the Zombie King?!"
