Jiang Bao watched as Black Cat broke free from the Cinnabar thread in his hand. He snorted coldly, tossing the thread to the ground. "Just a mere Evil Cat, yet you have such a tone! I’ll see just how deep your tricks run!"
He took out his Peach Wood Sword, affixing several Talismans onto it. After taking a few steps forward, he prepared to confront the Evil Cat before him.
Lu Jie approached and grabbed Jiang Bao's arm. Her brow furrowed with concern as she said, "Jiang Bao, this Evil Cat is afraid of sunlight; it must be formidable. Be careful!"
Jiang Bao patted Lu Jie's hand reassuringly and smiled, nodding. "Don't worry, I'll be cautious!"
He pulled away from Lu Jie and quickly walked up to Black Cat. Jiang Bao felt no contempt; with his left hand forming a Seal and his right hand gripping the Peach Wood Sword tightly, he declared, "Evil Cat, meet your end!"
"Ultimate Earth, Mystical Arts Have Methods! Vajra Seal, reveal the Evil Spirit, nowhere to hide, obliterate the malevolent spirit!"
"Vajra Seal, command!" Jiang Bao shouted as he launched the Seal from his left hand. A golden light emanated from his palm, and a phantom of a golden hand appeared before him, striking towards the Evil Cat.
I was stunned by Jiang Bao's Vajra Seal. It was a creation of my master who had combined the Buddhist Sect's Diamond Palm with Taoist Seals. The power of Vajra Seal was immense; if cultivated to perfection, it could rival the Buddha Sect's Tathagata Palm.
Though what Jiang Bao unleashed was merely a glimpse of the Vajra Seal's power, it was still impressive enough that even my Thunder Talisman might not stand a chance against it.
Embarrassed, I scratched my ear and muttered to myself, "Wow, when did Jiang Bao become this powerful?!"
As I spoke, the phantom of the Vajra Seal was already closing in on the Evil Cat.
"Yin spirits cross over, evil spirits conceal! Yokai Parade, rampaging through the three realms! Yin spirits manifest, kill for me!" The Evil Cat sensed the danger from the Vajra Seal; its black fur stood on end in fright. Without hesitation, it opened its mouth and expelled a cloud of gray mist to shield itself.
"What is that thing?!" I felt an intense Eerie Energy emanating from the gray mist, sending a shiver down my spine. I quickly activated my Yin-Yang Eyes to peer into the mist.
To my shock, I saw faces within the gray fog—faces that were vividly alive yet contorted in agony. They continuously slammed against the edges of the mist as if trying desperately to escape.
At that moment, the Vajra Seal struck the gray mist, dispersing it instantly. I saw that more than half of the Faces trapped within the mist were shattered by the Vajra Seal, while the remaining Faces floated in the air.
Jiang Bao, startled to see his Vajra Seal so easily neutralized, quickly activated his Wisdom Eye and looked at the group of Faces hovering above.
As Jiang Bao scanned the area, he suddenly recognized some of the Faces. His expression darkened as he recalled their identities. With a gaze filled with murderous intent, he looked at the Evil Cat and said coldly, "These are the souls of the elders who have passed away from our village. How dare you turn them into Wraiths? I will kill you!"
With that, Jiang Bao lunged forward, thrusting his Peach Wood Sword at the Evil Cat.
The Evil Cat's eyes glimmered with a sinister green light as it leaped aside several times to evade Jiang Bao's attack. It then halted and let out a strange cry, commanding the hovering Faces, "Kill him!"
As soon as the Evil Cat finished speaking, a chilling wind suddenly swept across Grave Hill, and all the floating Faces turned their attention toward Jiang Bao.
From my vantage point in the distance, I could clearly see that the eye sockets of those Faces were hollow and devoid of eyes. This was the form of a Wraith; after being devoured by the Evil Cat, only their Faces remained, transformed into controllable Puppets.
I clenched my fists, staring resolutely at those Faces and declared, "Damn it! How dare they refine Wraiths on our Grave Hill! I must find out who is behind this and kill them!"
Seeing the approaching Faces, Jiang Bao furrowed his brow and took a few steps back with his Peach Wood Sword in hand. He glanced at Lu Jie behind him and said, "Jie, I'll handle these Wraiths first; you take care of that Evil Cat!"
"Don't worry! I can deal with this Evil Cat!" Lu Jie nodded confidently, drawing a Bone Knife from her possession and positioning herself in front of the Evil Cat.
With the Evil Cat blocked for now, Jiang Bao immediately led the Wraiths toward me. He glanced my way and shouted, " Brother Jiang Ling, quickly open the Yin Soul Path to send these Wraiths to the Underworld!"
Wraiths left in the human realm would only cause chaos. Even if Jiang Bao and I hesitated to strike them down, other sorcerers would not show mercy. The only way to deal with them was to send them to the Underworld so that the Underworld Ghost Messenger could find a way to manage them; perhaps there would still be a glimmer of hope for reincarnation.
I noticed that one of the Wraiths near Jiang Bao was becoming somewhat transparent under sunlight; in no more than ten minutes, even if Jiang Bao did not act, they would be utterly dispersed.
Furrowing my brow, I planted my Seven Star Mysterious Dragon Sword into the ground and said to Jiang Bao, "Hold on for five minutes; I will set up the Yin Soul Path!"
Jiang Bao nodded, and he began to circle around me with the group of Wraiths.
The Yin Soul Path is a Daoist Art used by mages to guide souls to the Underworld. There are many methods to perform this Daoist Art, but time was of the essence, so I could only use the most straightforward approach to execute the Yin Soul Path.
"Money can make the devil push the mill! I'll use the Money Sword to set up the Yin Soul Path!" I set my backpack down and, feeling a bit pained, took out a Money Sword from inside.
I untied the red thread on the Money Sword and scattered copper coins on both sides, forming a path half a meter wide and one meter long.
Just as I slung my backpack back on, Jiang Bao's voice came through. " Brother Jiang Ling, your Yin Soul Path is a bit lacking! You should add another Money Sword!"
I shot Jiang Bao a glare and replied, "You’re so generous; do you really think Money Swords are worthless? When I learned Daoist Arts from my master, he opened the Yin Soul Path with just one copper coin!"
Ignoring Jiang Bao, I bit my index finger and drew a talisman in the palm of my left hand. Once the talisman was complete, I stood in the middle of the Yin Soul Path, pressed my left palm against the ground, and held the Seal in my right hand, continuously striking it against the Yin Soul Path.
After about two minutes, I finished casting the Seal for the Yin Soul Path. At that moment, my face turned pale, and I had exhausted half of my internal magical energy.
After casting the final Seal, I shouted loudly: "The Underworld has a path for wandering souls; let them cross the Naihe Bridge! With no way down to the Underworld, let souls weep for their passage! Now offering tolls for passage, I earnestly request the Ghost Messenger to open the path!"
"Yin Soul Path, open!"
