After realizing that there were no magical artifacts in my backpack, I immediately bit my tongue, spraying a mouthful of Tongue Blood onto the Palm Thunder in my left palm.
Tongue Blood is the most concentrated form of Yang Qi in the human body. With the Yang Qi from Tongue Blood, combined with the Seal I formed, I could amplify the power of Palm Thunder by two or three times.
"Hmph, you won't get away with this!" Lu Jie exclaimed as she saw my actions. She quickly gripped her Bone Knife and lunged toward my chest.
My hands were busy forming the Seal, leaving me no time to directly confront her Bone Knife. Feeling the murderous intent radiating from Lu Jie, I furrowed my brow and had no choice but to retreat continuously, trying my best to dodge the Bone Knife in her hand.
As I completed the final Seal, I noticed that my clothes had been slashed open by the Bone Knife, and I had sustained several wounds. Locking eyes with Lu Jie, a hint of killing intent emerged within me. "Damn it, you corpse woman! Let's see how I take you down now!"
I raised my left hand toward the dark void and shouted loudly, "Six Ding Six Jia, Three Pure Ones, grant me your power! Thunder God’s might, assist me in vanquishing evil! Palm Thunder, command!"
As soon as my words fell, a rumble of thunder echoed around us. Simultaneously, the symbol on my palm turned bright red, and a bolt of red lightning shot forth from my hand.
"You can actually summon thunder?! This is impossible!" Lu Jie looked at the Palm Thunder in my palm with fear in her eyes. She raised her Bone Knife defensively and began to slowly retreat.
"Hmph, you think you can run after attacking me? Too naive!" Seeing through Lu Jie’s intentions, I snorted coldly and rushed forward, slapping at her with my left hand.
"Jiang Ling, it was a misunderstanding! Please let me go!" Lu Jie flashed me a smile as she quickened her retreat while pointing her Bone Knife at me.
I couldn't help but admire how quickly her expression changed—faster than flipping a page in a book. However, I had no intention of letting Lu Jie escape.
Once I caught up to her, I immediately slapped at her with my left hand while shouting, "Palm Thunder, command!"
The moment my words left my mouth, I felt one-third of my Vital Energy drain away. A cold sweat broke out on my forehead as my body swayed dangerously close to collapsing.
"Damn it, why is this so exhausting?" I glanced helplessly at the Red Lightning in my palm before gritting my teeth and continuing to strike at Lu Jie.
Seeing the lightning approaching her, deep fear filled Lu Jie’s eyes. She raised her Bone Knife defensively and shouted toward the village behind her, "Honey, come save me!"
The Palm Thunder struck Lu Jie directly, sending her flying. The Bone Knife in her hand disintegrated into ashes due to its evil nature.
"Let's settle this quickly!" I glanced at the severely injured Lu Jie, and my murderous intent intensified. I had just heard her words; if I waited for her husband to arrive, things would become troublesome.
"Palm Thunder, command!" I rushed to Lu Jie’s side, taking advantage of her momentary daze to swiftly strike her Spirit Cover with Palm Thunder.
The Spirit Cover is the vital point of a ghost; as long as I struck there, this female corpse would surely not withstand it.
"Jiang Ling, don’t!" Just as I was about to eliminate Lu Jie, a familiar voice reached my ears. Hesitating, I halted my hand just above Lu Jie’s Spirit Cover and ultimately refrained from striking.
"Is that you, Jiang Bao?!" I looked at the figure before me, uncertain. It had been three or four years since I last saw Jiang Bao; we had both changed significantly. The somewhat handsome guy in front of me resembled the Jiang Bao from my memory by about seventy to eighty percent.
"That's right, I'm Jiang Bao. Hehe, Jiang Ling, you've changed quite a bit! You've grown taller than me, but thankfully you're not as handsome!" Jiang Bao pretended to comb his hair with his hand, grinning widely.
"Wow, it really is you!" Hearing Jiang Bao's narcissistic tone made me chuckle as I playfully punched his chest.
Jiang Bao rubbed his chest and came over to throw an arm around my shoulders, laughing, "Jiang Ling, now that you're back, why didn’t you give me a call first? Come on, let’s go home! My parents are still awake; they’ll be so happy to know you’re here!"
With that, Jiang Bao pulled me toward the village. The village was a couple of hundred meters away from the road; we could reach it in three minutes.
I pushed Jiang Bao’s hand away and pointed at Lu Jie on the ground. "Jiang Bao, hold on a second! Let’s clear this up first!"
Initially wanting to take me home and brush off Lu Jie’s situation, Jiang Bao realized from my question that things wouldn’t be easily overlooked.
He walked over to help Lu Jie up and then glanced at me sheepishly while scratching the back of his head. "Jiang Ling, this is my girlfriend!"
I was taken aback by Jiang Bao's words, my mouth agape enough to fit an egg inside. I stared back and forth between Jiang Bao and Lu Jie for several seconds before slapping my forehead. "Jiang Bao, have you lost your mind? How could you dare to date a corpse?!"
When I went to Spirit Ghost Street to learn Daoist Arts, Jiang Bao often accompanied me. Although his aptitude wasn’t as good as mine, he had learned some Daoist Arts and could be considered a real practitioner.
I knew that with Jiang Bao's abilities, he must have seen through that Lu Jie was a corpse.
Hearing my words, Jiang Bao tightly embraced Lu Jie and looked at me with determination, saying, "Jiang Ling, we truly love each other, so just leave us be!"
I knew that Jiang Bao was very stubborn; once he set his mind on something, it wouldn't change easily. I shook my head at him, sighed, and asked, "Do Uncle and the others know about your relationship?"
When Jiang Bao heard my tone soften, he finally relaxed and smiled. "Lu Jie has already met my parents, and they agree with our relationship!"
I nodded and glanced at Lu Jie in Jiang Bao's arms. With a serious tone, I said, "Lu Jie, I don't care who you are. Since you're with Jiang Bao, you better behave yourself! Otherwise, even if Jiang Bao protects you, I will kill you!"
"Ha! Jiang Ling, if you have the guts, go ahead and kill me now!" Lu Jie looked up at me with a cold snort before turning her head away.
"You’re so tough. If I don’t deal with you now, then I’m not called Jiang Ling!" Hearing Lu Jie’s words made me furious. I quickly gripped the Seal and walked toward her.
"Jiang Ling, your sister-in-law is in a bad mood because of some relatives visiting. Don’t take it out on her!" Jiang Bao hurriedly stepped in front of me to defend Lu Jie.
"Besides, we're all family here; let’s not fight over trivial matters! Come on, let’s head back!" Jiang Bao said with a grin as he pulled me toward the village. Lu Jie followed closely beside him, casting me a hostile glance.
"Hmph! Out of respect for Jiang Bao, I’ll let you off this time!" I shot Lu Jie a glare and released the Seal in my hand without making another move against her.
"Haha! Now that's my good brother!" Seeing my action, Jiang Bao relaxed and laughed heartily. The two of us walked shoulder to shoulder into the village.
