The grave pit contained nothing but an ordinary coffin, and inside it was empty, lacking any burial items for the deceased.
As I thought about how Liu Fengxing was merely sealed inside and not truly buried, I began to understand what was happening.
It was early morning, and no light penetrated the darkness of the coffin. It was not a suitable place to search for anything. Gritting my teeth, I jumped down, holding my phone in my left hand for illumination and wielding the Peach Wood Sword in my right, poking around inside the coffin.
I searched for over ten minutes without finding any so-called secret, but I did come across half of Liu Wanting's eyeball.
Staring at the eyeball impaled on the Peach Wood Sword, yellow liquid oozed from it, releasing a foul odor. My brow furrowed as I flung the eyeball away from the sword. My stomach churned, and I fought back the urge to vomit as I shouted up, "Qu Liang, there's nothing down here! I'm coming up!"
Without waiting for Qu Liang's response, I began to climb out of the grave pit. As soon as my upper body emerged, I saw a pair of feet standing before me. Looking up, I recognized them as belonging to Qu Liang.
With her hands on her hips, Qu Liang glared at me and said, "Jiang Ling, I haven't called you up yet! You can stay down there! If you haven't found that secret, there's no need for you to come up!"
Before I could respond, she stepped on me and kicked me back down hard into the coffin.
"Ouch! You think you can get away with this, Qu Liang? Just wait until I get up there; I'll make you pay!" I shouted from inside the coffin, covered in blood and feeling miserable.
At that moment, gazing at the starry night sky above me, a sudden spark of inspiration flashed through my mind. I stood up in the coffin, slapped my forehead, and laughed loudly, "I got it! I know where that secret is hidden!"
Qu Liang excitedly poked her head over the edge of the pit and asked, "Where? Tell me quickly!"
Looking at my dirty clothes and feeling a strong desire to punch Qu Liang for her earlier actions, I decided against it. A good man doesn't fight with a woman. Instead, I pointed at the coffin beneath me and said, "I've searched the entire coffin and can confirm there's nothing here. I'm certain that secret must be on top of the coffin lid!"
Earlier, when Liu Fengxing burst out from inside the coffin and sent the lid flying, if what we were looking for wasn't inside the coffin, then it had to be on top of it.
As Qu Liang watched me crawl out of the grave pit covered in blood, she wore an embarrassed smile and said, "Jiang Ling, I'm really sorry! I didn't know it would turn out like this; please don't hate me!"
I looked into Qu Liang's eyes and saw her sincere apology, and the last trace of my dissatisfaction vanished. I shook my head and smiled, saying, "Beautiful Qu, what do you take me for? Am I really that petty?"
I confirmed the direction and quickly led Qu Liang to the overturned coffin lid. I walked over, flipped it over, and saw an old piece of parchment stuck to it.
I tore the parchment off and handed it to Qu Liang, saying, "Beautiful Qu, this should be what you were looking for!"
Qu Liang excitedly took the parchment from me. She couldn't wait to open it and discovered a simple map drawn in the center, with a string of characters beside it that I couldn't understand.
As Qu Liang was engrossed in examining it, I curiously asked, "Qu Liang, what does this parchment say?"
Upon hearing my question, Qu Liang reluctantly tucked the parchment away and happily replied, "I haven't figured out exactly what it says yet. However, if I'm not mistaken, this should be a map to an ancient tomb!"
"Ancient Tomb Map?!" I exclaimed, staring at the parchment in Qu Liang's hand. If it truly was an Ancient Tomb Map, then we were in for a fortune. Just picking up anything from inside the tomb—even a piece of tile—could lead to great wealth.
It seemed Qu Liang could see through my thoughts. She smiled at me and said, "Jiang Ling, do you want to join me in raiding a tomb?"
Raiding tombs is a skilled endeavor; while it could lead to great riches, the risks involved were too high. If we encountered a powerful Ghostly Being or triggered some kind of trap inside the tomb, we would be in serious trouble.
I stroked my chin and thought for a moment before shaking my head. "Let's skip the tomb raiding. That's something for grave robbers; as a Yin-Yang Master, I shouldn't be taking someone else's job! You should go alone."
Qu Liang flashed a sly smile and said, "Jiang Ling, the second thing I want you to do is accompany me on this tomb raid! You wouldn't refuse, would you?"
I looked at Qu Liang in exasperation but finally sighed and nodded. "Fine, I'll go with you this once. But let me be clear: if we run into any danger, I can't guarantee I'll handle it. You'd better bring along some professionals!"
Qu Liang nodded enthusiastically and ran over to hug my arm with a smile. "Got it! Once I figure out this map, I'll come find you!"
I was being pulled outside the Cemetery by Qu Liang, and I felt a softness on my arm that caught me off guard. I touched my ear and cleared my throat awkwardly, saying, "Qu Liang, this isn't appropriate! As the saying goes, men and women shouldn't engage in close contact!"
Qu Liang looked up at me with a serious expression and said, "You're my boyfriend. I can hug you however I want. No one will say anything, unless you mind!"
With a smile, Qu Liang asked, "Jiang Ling, do you mind?"
I stared at Qu Liang in disbelief. We had indeed been dating, but more accurately, I had pretended to be interested in her to get closer to Liu Wanting. However, Qu Liang seemed genuinely serious now.
I wiped the smile off my face and asked earnestly, "Why do you still want to be my girlfriend?"
Feeling shy under my gaze, Qu Liang lowered her head and said softly, "You saved my life today, so I plan to dedicate myself to you!"
Hearing her words brought back memories of old television dramas. I thought to myself that there really were stories of heroes saving beautiful women, who then offered themselves in gratitude.
I touched my ear and laughed, "Qu Liang, tell me the truth. Is it because I'm handsome that you've fallen for me?"
As soon as I finished speaking, Qu Liang pinched my waist hard, causing me to wince in pain and tears to well up in my eyes. I cried out, "Ouch! Why are you so cruel? That's flesh! No way, I'm breaking up with you!"
Qu Liang held onto my hand tightly and teased with a laugh, "Haha, too late for that!"
