I smiled at Liu Wanting when I heard her agree to go to the Underworld for reincarnation. I nodded at her and said, "Wait here for a moment; I need to prepare some things!"
Liu Wanting was a snake demon who had cultivated to a high level. To send her to the Underworld for reincarnation, I needed to set up a formation that would extract her soul from her body and wash away some of her sins with rootless water, so she would suffer less in the Underworld.
As I turned to gather the necessary items, Liu Wanting looked at my back, a glint of coldness flashing in her eyes. She said, "Jiang Ling, you can't send me to the Underworld! Even if it costs me my soul, I will avenge my fallen brothers!"
In the end, Liu Wanting was a snake demon who had committed many atrocities. She only saw her brother's death and didn't care about the innocent lives lost because of her actions.
Seeing me walk further away, Liu Wanting got up from the ground and slowly walked toward the opened grave.
After a few seconds, she stood at the edge of the pit, gazing down at the coffin with a crazed expression on her face.
Suddenly, Liu Wanting clawed at her chest with her right hand and forcefully pulled out her heart.
Her blood flowed out like a burst water pipe, quickly soaking her clothes red.
Liu Wanting's face turned pale, but her expression was fierce as she held her still-beating heart. She jumped into the pit and shouted, "Big Brother, I'm here to help you break the seal!"
"Snake demon, don't do anything foolish!" Hearing Liu Wanting's voice, I quickly turned around and ran toward the pit. Unfortunately, I was too late; she had already jumped down.
I saw Liu Wanting land on top of the coffin. She crushed the heart in her hand, letting out a painful scream as a powerful demonic aura erupted from her body, shattering the seal on the coffin.
"Hissss~~" Once the seal was broken, a serpent-like roar echoed from within.
"This is bad!" As I watched Liu Wanting's blood flow into the coffin through the cracks, an ominous feeling crept into my heart. Just as I prepared to pull Liu Wanting back up, the coffin lid suddenly cracked open. A withered arm reached out from inside and grabbed Liu Wanting's body, pulling her in.
Everyone has their own choices. Since Liu Wanting chose this path, I didn't want to forcefully keep her. Watching her body disappear into the coffin made me shake my head and sigh inwardly.
After a while, I heard a disturbing sound of bones being chewed from inside the coffin. The thought of that snake demon devouring Liu Wanting's body made my stomach churn.
I furrowed my brows and took a few steps back, looking in the direction of the grave pit. "Damn, that's disgusting! Once you come out, I'll take you down!"
I stood beside the grave pit, not rushing to make a move. I thought to myself that this snake demon had been sealed for seven years; even if it had centuries of cultivation, it wouldn't be able to unleash even half of its power. Dealing with such a character was no pressure for me.
Previously, when facing Liu Wanting, I hadn't used all my strength. One reason was that I was afraid of hurting Qu Liang, and I didn't really want to fight Liu Wanting. Another reason was that I feared showing my true power would scare off the snake demon inside the pit. Although it might seem a bit pretentious, I had completely unsealed myself, and I wasn't entirely sure of my own strength.
After more than ten minutes, there was finally no more movement from within the grave pit; Liu Wanting's body must have been completely consumed by the snake demon.
I took out a talisman and looked at the coffin inside the pit, shouting, "Snake demon, stop playing dead! Get out here now!"
"You arrogant fool!" The coffin lid was suddenly flipped open, and a figure flew out from inside—it was the snake demon Liu Fengxing.
I sized up Liu Fengxing before me and noticed he had long black hair and a very frail physique, resembling an undernourished child. However, he was covered in Liu Wanting's blood, making him look quite terrifying.
Seeing how young I was, a glimmer of joy flashed in Liu Fengxing's eyes. He spoke with a hostile tone, "Stinky Taoist, you just killed my dear sister! Now I'm going to kill you to avenge her!"
A wave of demonic energy radiated from Liu Fengxing, forcing me to take two steps back. Seizing the opportunity, he pulled out a white bone knife and charged at me with murderous intent.
"You are nothing but a beast!" I fumed as I noticed that the bone knife in Liu Fengxing's hand looked fresh, still stained with blood—clearly made from Liu Wanting's bones.
With rage boiling inside me, I glared at Liu Fengxing and took out a talisman from my possession. Holding a seal in my hand, I charged toward him.
"Hehe, Taoist! You can die now!" Seeing that I didn't dodge but instead rushed forward, Liu Fengxing revealed a sinister smile as he accelerated his thrust with the bone knife.
I continuously changed my seals with both hands while chanting incantations. Without even glancing at the bone knife in Liu Fengxing's hand, I was confident that I could take him down in one strike.
As I unleashed my final seal, I looked up and realized that Liu Fengxing had already closed the distance to stand right before me.
I furrowed my brow and calmly threw the Talisman at Liu Fengxing while shouting, "To the heavens above and the eighteen hells below! Demons of the Underworld, arise! Divine thunder descend! I seek to slay this demon; let the divine thunder assist my might! Thunder Talisman, heed my call!"
Seeing my confident demeanor, Liu Fengxing took a few hesitant steps back, abandoning his chance to assassinate me while also dodging the Thunder Talisman I had thrown.
"Hmph, do you think this will save you?" I scoffed at Liu Fengxing, then pointed my right hand at him and unleashed a Seal, exclaiming, "Divine thunder descend!"
As soon as my words fell, a series of thunderclaps echoed from above. If you looked up now, you would see that there were no dark clouds in sight. All of this was conjured by my spell.
In ancient times, masters of Daoist Arts would hold rituals to summon rain. Although I did not possess such high-level Daoist Arts, I could still draw down a bolt of lightning using the magical power I had sealed for seven years.
Upon hearing the thunder rumbling above, Liu Fengxing felt a dangerous aura locking onto him. With disbelief etched on his face, he exclaimed, "Impossible! You’re too young; you can’t have such high-level Daoist Arts!"
With a deafening roar, a bolt of lightning the size of a thumb suddenly descended from above, poised to strike Liu Fengxing.
Seeing the lightning above him, Liu Fengxing realized that denial was futile. He suddenly knelt on the ground and pleaded, "Daoist Priest, I have a tremendous secret! If you spare me, I will tell you this secret and acknowledge you as my master!"
I glanced at Liu Fengxing and shook my head. "I'm not interested in your secrets; it's time for you to die!"
I stepped back a dozen paces and had just steadied myself when the bolt of lightning struck down, reducing Liu Fengxing to ashes.
