As soon as I took out the Talisman, I heard a faint sound coming from the kitchen, which quickly faded away. 0

“Ghost, where are you running?” I rushed into the kitchen with the Talisman in hand. The moment I stepped inside, a chilling breeze hit me, and a shadow lunged at my lower body. 0

“What the hell?!” I took a step back and instinctively kicked at the shadow. 0

It was then that I finally saw the true form of the shadow; it turned out to be a rat about the size of a cat or dog. 0

I glanced at the kitchen cabinet and noticed a large hole chewed into it. Inside, there was a layer of debris, and all the food around was gnawed to bits by the rat. It seemed that this rat had made itself at home here. 0

“So it’s just a greedy rat!” I put away the Talisman and cleared a path for the rat, saying, “Hey, you can go now! This place isn’t safe; it’s not where you should be!” 0

I could tell that this rat was almost ready to cultivate into something more, but I sensed no evil aura from it. I was sure it hadn’t harmed anyone, which is why I decided to let it go. 0

The rat had initially been terrified of me, huddling in the corner of the kitchen without daring to look my way. After I made way for it, it seemed to understand my words. It stood up on its hind legs and squeaked a few times before scurrying away from me. 0

Watching its retreating figure, I shook my head and said, “What a pity; that rat must weigh at least two or three pounds. It looks like it would taste great. If I had known, I wouldn’t have let it go!” 0

Upon hearing my words, the rat shuddered, glanced back at me, and then sped up considerably as it dashed outside. 0

I checked around the kitchen but found no trace of any ghostly presence. Rubbing my ear, I headed toward the front door and thought, “I should go open the door for Qu Liang first; two people working together makes things easier.” 0

I walked over and opened the room door to peek outside but found that Qu Liang was not standing there. 0

“That doesn’t make sense; at least seven or eight minutes have passed. Qu Liang should have arrived by now!” I walked to Zhang Yang’s room and knocked on the door several times while calling out, “Beautiful Qu, shouldn’t you be here by now?” 0

After knocking a few times without response, I discovered that the door wasn’t locked and pushed it open. My brow furrowed as I wondered aloud, “What’s going on?!” 0

Feeling uneasy, I took out a Talisman and concealed it in my hand before pushing the door open further. 0

“Hmm? When did this Daoist Sect railing appear here?” I noticed a railing about a meter high in front of me and felt puzzled. Stepping back to check the room number confirmed that I hadn’t gone to the wrong place. 0

“Never mind; let’s find Qu Liang first!” With that thought in mind, I stretched out my leg to step over the railing but didn’t feel my foot touch solid ground. 0

As I was about to swing my other leg over, I suddenly heard Qu Liang's voice coming from my left side. I turned to look, but there was no sign of Qu Liang. 0

I focused and closed my eyes, hearing Qu Liang shout loudly, "Jiang Ling, what are you doing! Don't do anything rash, please don't jump!" 0

"Damn it, I've been tricked!" Upon hearing Qu Liang's words, I immediately realized that I had likely fallen victim to the Ghostly Veil. I quickly pulled back the leg I had extended over. 0

As soon as my feet touched the ground, I bit into my fingertip, drawing blood to draw a Blood Demon mark on my eyelid. Then I formed a seal with my hands and shouted, "Grant me Yin-Yang Eyes, help me break the ghostly shadow! Evil Spirit, dare to cover my eyes? Three Pure Ones, shine upon me and reveal the Evil Spirit! Break!" 0

No sooner had I spoken than the blood on my eyelid emitted a red light that shot behind me. 0

When I opened my eyes again, I found myself standing on the balcony of the adjacent room; I hadn't actually stepped into Zhang Yang's room at all. 0

The thought of having already extended one leg out onto the balcony made my heart drop. If I had fallen straight down like that, both of my legs could have easily broken. If I landed headfirst, it could have meant an early demise for me. 0

Reflecting on what had just happened, I realized that I must have fallen under the Ghostly Veil when I discovered that set of Footprints. The ghost must have been sitting on my neck; no wonder I hadn't noticed it earlier. That mouse squeaking at me was likely trying to warn me. 0

Once the ghost covered my eyes, it affected my vision and hearing, leading me out onto the balcony with the intent of making me jump. Thankfully, Qu Liang had called me back to reality. 0

Still shaken, I swallowed hard and angrily said, "Damn it, how dare you trick me! Just wait until I get rid of you!" 0

Using the reflection in the glass of the balcony, I saw a child sitting on my neck. The child wore a white nightgown and covered my eyes with his hands, his expression completely blank and devoid of emotion. 0

I could feel a heavy Grievance emanating from him; he was undoubtedly the ghost I was looking for. 0

Seeing the child's appearance stirred some sympathy within me; he had passed away at such a young age. My heart softened as I sighed and suppressed my anger. With a smile directed at the ghost on me, I asked, "Friend, what is your name?" 0

The ghost replied in a monotone voice, "My name is Chu Pengpeng. Big Brother, what is your name?" 0

I responded, "I am Jiang Ling, a Yin-Yang Master! Pengpeng, since you have already died, let me help you go to the Underworld!" 0

A cold smile appeared on Chu Pengpeng's face as he said, "Sure! As long as you can catch me, I'll go to the Underworld and be reborn!" 0

I saw Chu Pengpeng's cold smile and thought to myself that it was bad news. Just as I was preparing to leave the edge of the balcony, I realized I was too late. 0

Suddenly, Chu Pengpeng wrapped her legs around my neck and leaned back, pulling me forcefully toward the edge of the balcony. 0

The sunlight was shining brightly on Chu Pengpeng, and I could see green smoke rising from her body as she began to disintegrate. A look of pain crossed her face, but she showed no signs of stopping. 0

"Are you crazy? You'll lose your soul like this! Stop it!" Seeing Chu Pengpeng's desperate struggle made my heart ache. I quickly took the talisman hidden in my right hand and slapped it onto her. 0

"Ah!" Chu Pengpeng cried out in pain as the talisman struck her. She released her grip and jumped off me. 0

Once she landed, she tore the talisman off her body and glared at me fiercely before charging in my direction. 0

"I'll come find you again tonight!" I said helplessly, touching my ear before turning and jumping down to the lawn below. 0

The second-floor balcony wasn't too high. I rolled over and landed safely without any injuries. 0

Standing up from the ground, I brushed off the dust and looked up at the balcony where Chu Pengpeng had just been, only to find she was still standing there. 0

She waved goodbye to me before disappearing completely. 0
