Zhang Yang glanced at the time and realized it was indeed quite late. In the end, she agreed to call the school and request another half-day off for us. 0

As soon as Hu Yalong heard about the day off, he immediately lunged towards Zhang Yang, shouting, "Sister Zhang Yang, you are my goddess! From now on, I’ll come to you whenever I need to take a break!" 0

Zhang Yang delivered a solid punch to Hu Yalong's head and said, "Fatty, if you keep this up, I’ll have to report you for assaulting an officer!" 0

Hu Yalong squatted down, rubbing his head, tears streaming from the pain. I stood by watching Zhang Yang in action; honestly, just looking at it made me feel hurt. 0

"Fatty, take your hand away; let me put some medicine on that!" I walked over and discreetly spat on the spot where Hu Yalong had been hit. I wasn't playing a prank; when I got hurt, my dad would do the same for me, and it worked pretty well. 0

Hu Yalong rubbed my spit on his head a few times. After a while, he wore a surprised expression and said, " Brother Jiang Ling, what kind of medicine is this? It’s actually quite effective! My head feels cool now; it doesn’t hurt as much as before!" 0

I touched my ear and grinned mischievously, thinking it was better not to reveal the truth to Hu Yalong. So I cleared my throat and said, "As long as it works, that's all that matters. As for what kind of medicine this is, you’d better not ask; it's a family secret!" 0

Not giving Hu Yalong a chance to press further, I pulled him along towards the school. By the time we returned to the dormitory, it was already four in the morning. 0

After Hu Yalong and I took a shower, we went straight to bed. I had barely laid down when Lan Yue returned, looking extremely happy as if he had just won the lottery. 0

I rubbed my eyes and curiously asked, "Lan Yue, why are you so happy? Did you find a dollar on the way?" 0

Lan Yue shot me a glare and replied, " Brother Jiang Ling, can’t you be a little more ambitious?" 0

He continued excitedly, "Just now Zhang Yang called me; she wants to meet up tomorrow. No wait, she wants to meet me for lunch today." 0

Lan Yue sat on his bed with a silly grin. Just then, there was a loud knock on the door followed by our homeroom teacher's booming voice. 0

"Lan Yue! I heard you! It’s late at night; why aren’t you sleeping? Are you hoping to discuss your dreams and life with me?" 0

Upon hearing our teacher's voice, we immediately settled down obediently to sleep. 0

At nine in the morning, I stretched lazily and got out of bed. Since I had taken half a day off today, I was fortunate enough to sleep in. 0

I looked around the dormitory and noticed I was the only one left. Li Hongze must have gone to study by himself; Hu Yalong was likely off with his girlfriend; Lan Yue probably went out on a date with Zhang Yang. 0

"Ah, I never expected that I would be the most idle person!" I shook my head and walked to the washroom to freshen up. 0

After finishing breakfast, I thought to myself that since I had nothing to do, I might as well take a stroll outside the school and head to Dingjiagou again, while also picking up some magical tools. 0

I had promised Qu Liang that I would take care of that snake demon, and since it was still trapped, I could prepare a bit in advance. 0

"Ling Brother, where are you going?" Just as I stepped out of the school gate, I saw Qu Liang appear behind me. She reached out and tightly hugged my arm. 0

"Ahem, I'm not going anywhere special, just taking a casual walk!" Feeling the softness on my arm, I awkwardly cleared my throat and struggled to pull my arm away. 0

Qu Liang stepped in front of me, pointed at my nose, and laughed, "Ling Brother, it looks like you have a nosebleed!" 0

I wiped my nose with my hand and smiled sheepishly, "Haha, it's just that the air is too dry; I'm a bit overheated!" 0

As I wiped my nose, I realized I had been tricked; I wasn't bleeding at all. 0

"Haha, Ling Brother, you're really too funny!" Qu Liang laughed so hard at my reaction that my entire face turned red. 0

To change the subject, I asked, "Qu Liang, why are you here? Aren't you supposed to be in class today?" 0

Qu Liang replied shyly, "I heard that Tang Zhen seemed to have caused you some trouble yesterday, so I came over to check on you. Now that I see you're fine, I'm relieved." 0

I recalled that Gangbo had come to bother me yesterday and ended up getting dealt with. However, it seemed Gangbo didn't have the surname Tang. Curious, I asked, "Who is Tang Zhen? I don't think I've met him." 0

Qu Liang explained, "Tang Zhen is one of my pursuers; he keeps bothering me. I had no choice but to tell him that you are my boyfriend." 0

"That's Tang Zhen?" Qu Liang pointed at a guy not far away. 0

I turned to look and saw that Tang Zhen was a guy in his mid-twenties. He wasn't taller than me and had dyed blond hair; he looked like a local thug from around the school. 0

What surprised me was that Gangbo, whom I had dealt with yesterday, was standing behind Tang Zhen. It seemed Gangbo was Tang Zhen's lackey. 0

Connecting the dots from yesterday's events, I understood what was going on. "So that's who he is!" 0

Tang Zhen noticed me sizing him up and exchanged a glance with his henchman behind him. He picked up a stool and walked toward me. 0

When Tang Zhen reached me, he glanced at Qu Liang, then glared at me and asked, "Are you Jiang Ling?" 0

I pulled Qu Liang behind me and replied coolly, "Yes, I'm Jiang Ling. What do you want?" 0

"Hmph, what do I want? Don't you know?" Tang Zhen scoffed, raising the stool in his hands and swinging it at me. The group of thugs behind him saw the fight starting and rushed forward with their weapons. 0

As the saying goes, a wise man doesn't suffer losses in vain. With only myself against so many people and too many bystanders around, I couldn't use Daoist Arts without drawing attention. If it came to a brawl, I wouldn't stand a chance against these seasoned ruffians; they were far tougher than Gangbo and his crew. 0

"Run!" I shouted, fearing for Qu Liang's safety as I grabbed her and dashed toward the cold drink shop. I thought I had seen Lan Yue and Zhang Yang over there chatting while drinking. 0

"Still trying to run! Brothers, smash him!" Tang Zhen yelled as he hurled the stool at me, and his gang followed suit, throwing their weapons as well. 0

"Watch out!" I sensed the danger behind me and quickly pulled Qu Liang into my arms. The objects thrown by Tang Zhen's crew hit me hard, sending waves of pain through my body. 0

"Damn it, I'll remember you all!" I shot a glare back at Tang Zhen, muttering a threat before dragging Qu Liang to continue our escape toward the cold drink shop. 0

Just as Tang Zhen's group was about to catch up, Zhang Yang finally appeared. Dressed in her police uniform, she positioned herself protectively in front of me and Qu Liang. She looked at Tang Zhen's gang and declared, "In broad daylight! You dare to gather for a brawl? Do you have no respect for the law?" 0
