I saw the green poisonous mist rushing towards me. Even from four or five meters away, I could smell the pungent stench emanating from it.
“Not good!” I shouted, my face turning pale. Just a whiff of the mist made my head feel heavy, and I was on the verge of fainting.
I quickly threw the Peach Wood Sword to the ground, reached for an Exorcism Talisman, and pressed it against my chest. Then, I began to form Hand Seals with my hands, chanting, “Ultimate Earth, Mystical Arts Have Methods! Three Pure Ones, grant your blessing to dispel evil and eliminate demons!”
“Exorcism Talisman, command!”
The Exorcism Talisman on my chest ignited without fire, a beam of white light shooting out from the talisman and directly piercing into my mind. A sharp pain surged through my head, causing me to tightly shut my eyes. I pressed my left hand against my head while my right hand felt along the wall as I slowly backed away.
After three or four seconds, the pain in my head subsided. Suddenly, I burped loudly, expelling the green poisonous mist from my mouth. My mind cleared instantly.
All of this happened quickly, within just seven or eight seconds. When I opened my eyes again, the poisonous mist was only about two meters away from me.
The Peach Wood Sword I had thrown on the ground was already enveloped by the mist.
My expression turned tense as I hurriedly took out another talisman from my pocket. Dipping my finger in Cinnabar, I swiftly drew a Hellfire Talisman.
The Hellfire Talisman was one of the simplest charms, yet it could summon varying degrees of Hellfire depending on the caster's strength to burn away all evil entities.
With my current abilities, I could only summon a thin strand of Hellfire, but that would be enough.
I formed the final Hand Seal and tossed the Hellfire Talisman into the poisonous mist before shouting, “Ultimate Earth, Mystical Arts Have Methods! Hellfire, burn evil and eliminate demons!”
“Hellfire Talisman, command!”
As soon as I finished speaking, the Hellfire Talisman ignited in midair without flame. A thin strand of black fire appeared in the air, causing the temperature around me to drop by several degrees.
“Damn, it's so cold!” I shivered and quickly ran away. It wasn't until I reached the entrance of the Body Storage Room that I dared to look back.
I saw that strand of Hellfire land on the green poisonous mist like a spark falling into a barrel of gasoline; it ignited instantly, illuminating the entire corridor.
After seven or eight seconds, all of the poisonous mist in the corridor was burned away, and that strand of Hellfire vanished without a trace. Only the large black scorch marks left on the wall remained as proof that everything that had just occurred was real.
I looked at the empty corridor, furrowing my brow in confusion. "Where did that Spider Demon go? It should be here."
From the very beginning, I found it strange. I had just been affected by the poisonous mist; if the Spider Demon were around, it would have seized the opportunity to ambush me. It couldn't possibly let such a chance slip away.
I walked over to the spot where we had fought earlier and noticed a trail of blood on the wall. I reached out and touched some of it, then sniffed it. There was a faint trace of demonic energy lingering in the blood, which was indeed from the Black Dog Blood that had been splashed on the Spider Demon earlier.
Following the blood trail along the wall, I noticed that the vent above the corridor had been opened at some point. The edges of the vent were smeared with Black Dog Blood, and several strands of white spider silk were draped over it.
A sense of foreboding washed over me as I frowned. "Where could that Spider Demon have gone?"
"Senior, help me!" At that moment, Wang Shenglin's voice echoed from inside the Body Storage Room, followed by sounds of a struggle, which quickly fell silent.
"This is bad!" Upon hearing the commotion from the Body Storage Room, I immediately thought that the Spider Demon must be inside. I quickly pulled out a talisman and rushed toward the door.
I reached the entrance to the Body Storage Room and pushed against the heavy door with all my strength, only to find it entangled with spider silk and unable to budge.
Peering through the crack in the door, I saw that the Spider Demon had already crawled into the vent in the center of the Body Storage Room. It was dragging someone who was bound in spider silk toward the vent.
The silk hadn’t completely covered this person; I could see Wang Shenglin’s head sticking out. Although Wang Shenglin could be arrogant at times, he wasn't a bad person, and I couldn't just stand by and watch him die.
Wang Shenglin's face was turning dark; if I didn’t act soon, he might not survive. I shouted into the room, "Demon, stop right now!"
The Spider Demon glanced at me with a sinister look and said, "Stupid mage, mind your own business or I'll kill you too!"
With that, it continued to pull Wang Shenglin's body closer to the vent, almost completely dragging him inside.
I frowned and quickly took out a piece of yellow paper to draw an Exorcism Talisman. I placed it on the door and began forming several Hand Seals while chanting, "Ultimate Earth, Mystical Arts Have Methods! Three Pure Ones bless me; dispel evil and exterminate demons!"
"Exorcism Talisman, command!"
As I completed my final Hand Seal, I watched as the Exorcism Talisman ignited without flame. A beam of white light shot from the talisman and struck the door of the Body Storage Room.
The taut spider silk was hit by the white light; its demonic energy dissipated, causing it to become limp. With a strong push, I managed to force open the door to the Body Storage Room.
"Demon, where are you going!" I picked up a Peach Wood Sword that had fallen to the ground, bit my right index finger, and smeared a layer of blood on the tip of the sword. Then, I threw the Peach Wood Sword towards the Spider Demon hiding in the vent.
The Peach Wood Sword was specifically designed to ward off evil spirits, and with my Master's Blood on it, if that Spider Demon got hit, it would definitely feel pain and loosen its grip on Wang Shenglin.
Imagining it was beautiful, but reality was cruel.
The scene I envisioned did not unfold. The Spider Demon saw the flying Peach Wood Sword and forcefully flicked the silk from its mouth, using the bound Wang Shenglin as a shield against the sword.
The Peach Wood Sword struck Wang Shenglin right in his rear. I estimated it went in at least five centimeters.
"Ahh!" The previously unconscious Wang Shenglin tightened up in pain, waking up with a scream. He gasped for breath but couldn't catch it and fainted again.
I awkwardly touched my ear and said, "This, I absolutely did not do it on purpose!"
Taking advantage of this moment, the Spider Demon forcefully pulled Wang Shenglin into the vent and then swiftly crawled deeper into the mortuary with him.
"Demon, don't run!" Seeing the Spider Demon vanish from sight, I turned around and rushed outside the mortuary to search for any trace of it.
"Senior, help me!!" At that moment, I heard a weak cry for help behind me. Turning around, I found Wang Shenglin's two attendants lying on the ground. Their faces were pale and their breaths extremely weak; they looked like they were about to pass out.
