Qu Liang's eyes shifted as she looked at the grave before her. "Jiang Ling, if we help you break the Round Seal on you, what will you offer in return?"
Without a second thought, I replied, "I will dedicate myself to you!"
Qu Liang shot me a glare, annoyed. "If you keep talking nonsense, you can go find someone else to break your Round Seal!"
"Don't say that, beautiful Qu. Just name your conditions. Even if it means climbing a mountain of knives or crossing a sea of fire, I, Jiang Ling, won't even furrow my brow!"
Qu Liang snorted coldly and nodded in satisfaction. She pointed at the grave. "I just used a secret method to probe a bit; the monster down there has already cultivated an Inner Dan. I won't make it difficult for you; I only want the monster's demon core!"
The demon core is the source of a monster's demonic energy and is also a rare material for crafting magical artifacts. Only monsters that have cultivated for over a hundred years can condense a demon core within them.
Many monsters increase their cultivation through Evil Cultivation methods, but their actual cultivation time does not increase. Therefore, monsters that have cultivated for over a hundred years often possess far more than just that.
Although I was somewhat uncertain about the monster in the grave, I nodded without hesitation. "Alright, I agree!"
"Come find me at our school every night at ten. I will help you break a bit of the seal. In about half a month, your Round Seal will be completely undone!"
Qu Liang and I chatted for a while longer before we left the Cemetery and took separate taxis back to school.
When I climbed over the wall into the dormitory, I saw that Hu Yalong and the others were already asleep. I lay down on my bed and fell asleep immediately.
Meanwhile, the fleeing Bat Demon flew into an abandoned factory. It transformed into human form and shouted loudly inside the factory, "Second Sister! It's bad! Elder Eight has been killed!"
A green snake slithered out from a corner of the factory and transformed into human form. This snake demon was Liu Wanting.
Liu Wanting walked up to the Bat Demon with a cold expression, her voice dark as she said, "What happened? Explain it to me in detail!"
The Bat Demon was so frightened by Liu Wanting's gaze that it dared not meet her eyes. It hurriedly recounted everything it had seen, leaving out no details, even confessing to its own attempt to escape.
"Hmph, a bunch of useless fools!" Liu Wanting scoffed, slapping the Bat Demon across the face and knocking it to the ground.
Still seething with anger, Liu Wanting kicked the Bat Demon a few more times before finally saying, "Useless creature, go prepare blood food for Big Brother. I'll deal with those two mages myself!"
The Bat Demon, bruised and battered, stood up respectfully and replied, "Yes, Second Sister!"
With that, the Bat Demon swayed and transformed into a bat, flying out of the factory.
"No matter who it is, I will kill you all!" Liu Wanting glared outside, her eyes filled with a chilling murderous intent.
It was Monday, and the first class was taught by the homeroom teacher. I got up at six-thirty.
When I got out of bed, I was surprised to see Hu Yalong—who usually slept until there were only twenty minutes left before class—already awake. I asked curiously, "Fatty, what's going on? The sun must be rising in the west today; you're up earlier than me!"
Hu Yalong stood in front of the mirror, fussing over his hairstyle with a smug grin on his face. " Brother Jiang Ling, my family’s Feng Jin asked me to go for a morning run. Do you want to join us?"
I kicked him in the backside and scolded, "Get lost! Stop showing off your love in front of me!"
As I got out of bed to wash up, I saw Li Hongze coming out of the bathroom holding an English book and mumbling English words to himself.
Li Hongze looked at me and said, "g!"
"Get lost!" I pushed Li Hongze out of the washroom, shaking my head. I thought to myself how powerful love could be, stirring up all the passion between Hu Yalong and Li Hongze.
It was the last thirty-seven days of our senior year, and the atmosphere in class was extremely tense. Those with good grades were studying hard, while those with average grades were also putting in their best efforts. Even we, who struggled academically, were doing our utmost to study.
Hu Yalong and I sat in the last row by the back door of the classroom. I held a Chinese textbook and read for about ten minutes before my eyelids began to droop.
Glancing at Hu Yalong beside me, I found he had already dozed off on his desk, drool escaping from the corner of his mouth.
Looking at Hu Yalong's state, a mischievous idea popped into my head. A wicked smile spread across my face as I slapped his cheek hard and exclaimed, "Fatty, wake up! Class is over; it's time to eat!"
Hu Yalong scratched his face with his hand, shifted his head to a different position, and continued sleeping.
"Huh? He used to wake up immediately when it was time to eat; why isn't it working now?!" I stared at Hu Yalong in confusion. Suddenly, a light bulb went off in my head as I realized the key to the problem. I slapped Hu Yalong's chubby face again and said, "Fatty, your Feng is outside looking for you!"
Hu Yalong instantly sprang up from his seat. His eyes barely open, he dashed toward the classroom door, shouting loudly, "Feng, I'm coming!"
"Haha! This is hilarious!"
"Is Hu Yalong dreaming about spring? Feng can't be Sister Feng, right? Haha!"
Everyone in class turned to look at Hu Yalong. The Chinese teacher, who had been lecturing, turned pale with anger. He slammed the blackboard eraser down on Hu Yalong's head and shouted, "Hu Yalong, get back in here!"
Hu Yalong covered his head with his hands. At that moment, his eyes finally opened fully. He glared at me and realized he had been pranked.
This was just a small episode in our school life. Time flew by quickly, and soon it was eight o'clock in the evening. Evening self-study had ended; those who wanted to continue studying could stay in the classroom until eleven o'clock at night, while those who didn't want to study could return to their dorms for sleep.
All four of us from the dorm rushed out of the classroom. Li Hongze, holding a review book, was heading to the library with Lei Xiangyun to study, and they quickly ran off to secure a spot. Hu Yalong was humming a tune; he had a date with He Cai Feng and swaggered out confidently.
I gave Lan Yue the finger as we watched those two traitors leave. I placed my hand on Lan Yue's shoulder and said, "Lan Yue, how about we go have some fun?"
Lan Yue nodded and replied, "Sure, I'll take you to dominate the game!"
I knew I had to meet Qu Liang at ten o'clock that night, but it was still early. Lan Yue and I decided to play a round of League of Legends at the internet café before heading over; the timing would work out perfectly.
At Galaxy Internet Café, our usual haunt where we often stayed overnight, we were more than familiar with the place.
"Boss, two computers for the night!" I shouted as soon as I walked into the café.
" Brother Jiang Ling, run!" Lan Yue exclaimed as he spotted two police officers patrolling inside to check for underage internet users. He immediately took off.
By the time I realized what was happening, it was too late. The two officers turned their heads toward me as soon as they heard my voice and surrounded me.
One of the officers was someone I recognized—it was Zhang Yang, the female officer I had encountered at Slaughterhouse yesterday.
Zhang Yang walked over and patted my head with a smile, saying, "Little brother, we meet again!"
