I stepped out of the Slaughterhouse and saw Qian Duoduo waiting for me by the roadside, already dressed in a new outfit. As soon as he spotted me, he waved his hand and shouted, "Brother Jiang Ling, I'm over here!"
Feeling a bit frustrated, I got into Qian Duoduo's car and told him that I had dealt with the Pig Demon, but I didn't mention what had happened afterward.
Qian Duoduo beamed at me, eager to flatter. "Brother Jiang Ling, from the moment I first laid eyes on you, I knew you were a master of great power. You took care of that Pig Demon with such ease! The old saying holds true: heroes emerge from youth!"
I knew Qian Duoduo was just buttering me up, but as the saying goes, flattery never hurts! I felt pleased inside, though my expression remained neutral.
Noticing that Qian Duoduo was about to continue his flattery, I quickly cleared my throat to interrupt him. "Boss Qian, where are we headed now?"
Qian Duoduo replied, "I've already bought everything and sent it back. On my way back earlier, I ordered food at a restaurant next to the shop. Let's eat first."
I glanced at my phone; it was nearly three in the afternoon. After the fight with the Pig Demon, I had expended a lot of energy and felt quite hungry as I rubbed my stomach.
We entered a modest restaurant and ordered five or six dishes. After a while, Qu Liang joined us. The three of us enjoyed a hearty meal before heading back to Qian Duoduo's shop.
I rubbed my slightly protruding belly and stepped into Qian Duoduo's store. At that moment, I sensed a change in the atmosphere inside; the shop was filled with a powerful Vital Energy.
Looking down at the center of the shop, I noticed that the Jade Buddha was placed on the floor. Surrounding the Jade Buddha were seven Peach Wood Nails arranged according to the positions of the Big Dipper stars, each connected by red thread that Qian Duoduo had purchased.
The seven-foot-long red thread was taut without any excess, binding the Jade Buddha in place.
The outer part of the Peach Wood Nails was marked with a complex Formation drawn in Rooster Comb Blood, and four Silver Talismans were placed around the Formation. I took a glance but couldn't recognize what kind of talismans they were. However, I could sense the powerful magical fluctuations contained within them; these four Silver Talismans were definitely not ordinary.
I had never seen the Seven Star Soul Locking Formation before; I'd only heard my master mention it once: "Seven nails lock seven stars to secure the true form; divine symbols seal the Divine Soul!"
The more powerful the nails and talismans within the formation were, the greater the power of the Seven Star Soul Locking Formation.
I walked around Qu Liang's Seven Star Soul Locking Formation, trying to appear knowledgeable. "Qu Liang, these seven Peach Wood Nails have been spiritually awakened, right?"
Qu Liang looked at me in surprise. "I didn't expect you to know so much!"
Qu Liang pointed at the Seven Star Soul Locking Formation with a smug expression. "These seven Peach Wood Nails are made from the heart of the Thunder-Struck Peach Tree, passed down from my Great-Grandfather as a Family Guardian Artifact. I took them out secretly!"
"The four Silver Talismans are protective charms given to me by my master. Even a ghost with a hundred years of cultivation would be subdued by just one of these Silver Talismans!"
I was curious; earlier, Qu Liang had been chased and attacked by an Evil Spirit. If I hadn't intervened, she might have been in serious trouble. I asked, "Why didn't you use those four Silver Talismans against that Evil Spirit?"
Qu Liang shot me a glare and retorted, "Hmph! Those four Silver Talismans weren't with me at the time. Otherwise, who would need your help?"
Seeing the atmosphere tense up, Qian Duoduo quickly stepped between us and smiled, "Qu Liang, Jiang Ling, when are you two going to start fighting?"
I gave Qian Duoduo a knowing look and stayed silent. Qu Liang noticed my gesture, her lips curling into a smile as her tone softened. "We'll make our move at eleven tonight!"
The stars were bright and numerous in the summer sky. At eleven o'clock that night, even without lights, we could barely make out our surroundings.
When Qian Duoduo saw that it was time, he pulled down the iron gate of the shop and quietly stood in a corner.
I held a Peach Wood Sword in my hand, standing before the Seven Star Soul Locking Formation with a serious expression. "Qu Liang, it's almost time! Let's do this!"
Qu Liang nodded and sat in front of the formation. She bit her index finger and let a drop of blood fall onto the Jade Buddha in the center of the formation. Then she cast several spells while chanting, "Supreme Old Lord, grant me Divine Power to capture demons and subdue evil! Seven Star Soul Locking, command!"
As soon as Qu Liang finished speaking, the entire Seven Star Soul Locking Formation emitted a strong Vital Energy that enveloped the Jade Buddha.
The red threads surrounding the Jade Buddha reacted to Qu Liang's blood like leeches, wrapping tighter around it.
"Woo woo~~" At that moment, the Jade Buddha let out an eerie cry and began to jump up and down. After a while, a green flame erupted from its body, starting to burn away the red threads.
"Jiang Ling, what is that green flame?" Qian Duoduo asked curiously.
I frowned and explained, "That's Ghost Fire; only Spirit Ghosts with over three hundred years of cultivation can condense it. It seems this Jade Buddha contains quite a formidable spirit!"
Seeing that more than half of the red threads on the Jade Buddha had been burned away, Qu Liang's magical power backfired on her, turning her face an abnormal shade of red.
A glint of ruthlessness flashed in Qu Liang's eyes as she bit down on her tongue, spitting a mouthful of Tongue Blood onto the seven Peach Wood Nails. With swift movements, she cast several Spells, shouting, "Seven Nails Sealing Body, Red Thread of Soul Snatching! Command!"
Qu Liang executed the final Hand Seal, and the seven Peach Wood Nails shot up from the ground, piercing into the Jade Buddha, trapping it tightly. The Ghost Fire surrounding the Jade Buddha was also dispersed.
Taking advantage of the moment, the remaining red threads surged forward, wrapping around the Jade Buddha and tightening their grip, attempting to force the Spirit Ghost within to emerge.
"Woo~~" The cries emanating from inside the Jade Buddha grew louder and clearer, as if the Spirit Ghost was trying to break free.
But just then, a new surge of Ghost Fire erupted from the Jade Buddha, instantly incinerating all the red threads and sending the seven Peach Wood Nails flying away.
"Pfft!" As the spellcaster, Qu Liang suffered the greatest backlash when her Daoist Arts were forcibly disrupted. She staggered and spat out a mouthful of fresh blood.
"I'll fight you to the end!" Qu Liang took a deep breath; her eyes turned bloodshot. She picked up a Silver Talisman from the ground and reached out to stick it onto the Jade Buddha.
"Woo~~" At that moment, the Jade Buddha emitted an eerie wail, turning to face Qu Liang. The Ghost Fire drifted toward her.
When the Ghost Fire touched Qu Liang's Silver Talisman, she didn't have time to recite her Spell; the entire talisman was reduced to ashes. The Ghost Fire then spread toward Qu Liang.
"Let me handle this!" Seeing that Qu Liang was struggling, I pulled her behind me and used my Peach Wood Sword to disperse the approaching Ghost Fire.
