In the conversation between the two, the weapon customized for Li Ning emerged from the forge, accompanied by a long bill that was handed to him.
The weapon resembled a bizarre staff that could fit on Big Sphere's head, but it gleamed beautifully, with a surge of Vital Energy gathering within it, transforming it into a weapon fully usable by a Superpowered Individual.
After all, he already had a weapon suited for himself and hadn’t paid much attention to this area of research. Li Ning was different; 99% of his strength relied on the performance of his weapons. Only with the right weapon could he unleash his personal power. Zheng Yifan had noticed months ago that Li Ning often experimented with various items on himself, testing them to see if they were suitable for his use.
By now, those items had all disappeared. Only this weapon remained, and Zheng Yifan understood that those things were used for gradual testing. Once the Hope Gathering Laboratory obtained complete data, they would organize the information and redesign a weapon perfectly suited for Li Ning.
The strange-looking weapon before them was specifically for Li Ning; anyone else would find it cumbersome, too light even to be used as a staff.
Inside, countless intricate mechanisms rendered it unusable by others. Only after utilizing Duality and Superpower could one allow the airflow within to circulate and form powerful attacks.
Li Ning, however, wore a grim expression, his hands trembling.
"What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?" Zheng Yifan asked, alarmed by Li Ning's shaking demeanor.
"I... I... I owe 170,000 Military Merit just to create this rough weapon. The next processes will require at least 4 million Military Merit," Li Ning managed to stammer out, his face flushed red from holding back.
Zheng Yifan was stunned. The internal pricing of this project had very low profit margins, not exceeding a certain percentage. Now Li Ning was quoting such a staggering figure, clearly indicating that the costs were Vast Amounts.
But this was just for one weapon.
Seeing Zheng Yifan's doubts, Li Ning dejectedly handed over the quote sheet while gazing at his future weapon. He then looked hopefully at the Superpowered Individuals behind him who were smiling broadly at it, barely holding back laughter.
If it weren't for Zheng Yifan being present, those unfamiliar Superpowered Individuals would have burst into laughter.
Li Ning's expressions were incredibly rich; in an instant, he showcased nearly every emotion a human could display. In the end, his sorrowful face resembled that of a wronged bride.
"You’re simply setting your standards too high. Look at this item with the highest price; it's an exquisite weapon requiring advanced refinement. This necessitates using Vast Amounts of Zombie Crystal and long periods of nurturing. When others refine weapons, they borrow from the abundant Vital Energy to nurture it until it finally takes shape," Zheng Yifan slowly explained to Li Ning.
"All these bits and pieces you have are refined choices a hundred times over. The current technological capabilities of Gathering Place simply cannot achieve perfection; it can only be done slowly with painstaking effort, which of course is a waste of money. Wait until Gathering Place's technology improves, and then you can customize it. However, by then, the prices probably won't drop; the craftsmanship will just be more excellent," Zheng Yifan thought, even considering tossing aside the Silver Spear to forge a new weapon for himself.
Using the Silver Spear could combine with this Spirit Weapon, allowing for flexible use, but it lacked powerful lethality; the weapon did not enhance strength additionally. However, the Psychic Weapon produced here was different. It possessed formidable killing power and could continuously enhance one's weapon.
Unfortunately, Zheng Yifan ultimately gave up on that idea. These things were not important to him; what mattered most was quickly leveling up to a Fifth Stage Superpowered Individual. Only then would he have the strength for self-preservation.
After advancing to Fourth Stage, Zheng Yifan kept his Superpower a secret from everyone. He even remained tight-lipped about it because his strength had not increased but rather diminished; he needed to gather Zombie Crystal s quickly to complete further evolution.
However, this speed needed to be controlled, as it would change the dynamics of both worlds.
After pondering for a few seconds, Zheng Yifan returned the price list to Li Ning and continued watching the subsequent processes.
Once Li Ning's Psychic Weapon was completed, the next item was placed on the table—a gun barrel, half a meter long. The barrel was entirely black and shiny, with clear rifling inside and excellent craftsmanship. Zheng Yifan was certain that such manufacturing techniques did not exist in the real world.
Now, this gun barrel entered the processing sequence, initially passing through a CNC machining center for rough shaping. Since this was a custom order, they brought their original components.
As the barrel entered the furnace, Zheng Yifan watched as Vital Energy began to slowly refine it; the entire process was almost identical to Li Ning's. It followed exactly the same steps.
The only difference was that Li Ning consumed more materials while this gun barrel used very little Primordial Iron; in the end, the finished barrel could even be just a thin layer. It looked rather shabby—aside from the clear rifling inside, the exterior was merely a thin sheet of iron.
However, what came next truly opened Zheng Yifan's eyes. A Superpowered Individual used their Superpower to expand the middle of the barrel into a hollow tube before proceeding to the next step.
After hollowing it out, while the dimensions of the barrel remained unchanged, various data points and the concentration of Vital Energy it could hold significantly decreased compared to Li Ning's weapon—it was simply incomparable.
But it was what came next that piqued Zheng Yifan's curiosity most. The previous steps had already completed all production; he wondered what else could be enhanced.
Soon enough, he saw a Superpowered Individual take the barrel and place it on a platform filled with Zombie Crystal s, extracting a dozen or so Zombie Crystal s and placing them into adjacent slots.
Soon, the energy from the Zombie Crystal in the slot was completely extracted. The Superpowered Individual then channeled their power, inscribing numerous Inscription onto the gun barrel.
Once the inscriptions were completed, the process moved on to the next phase. The barrel underwent Vital Energy infusion, internal flame resistance enhancement, Gravitational Array engraving, and even enhancements for Rejection force speed and rotational power. All these formations required guidance from a Superpowered Individual with special Superpower to properly manifest on the barrel. By the end, the barrel no longer appeared ordinary; it resembled a piece of art, adorned with countless intricate characters, with the Superpowered Individual’s power permanently imprinted upon it for an enduring boost.
Unfortunately, the barrel contained relatively little Vital Energy, preventing these formations from being fully realized.
However, that was not a concern. As long as he returned to find a sculptor for internal Primordial Iron filling next time, it would suffice. The required amount of Primordial Iron would undoubtedly leave the owner completely bankrupt.
The thin layer of Primordial Iron used earlier was merely a fraction of what was needed. To fully utilize Primordial Iron, the cost would be dozens of times higher, and future refining would incur additional expenses.
What made Zheng Yifan feel even more drained by the factory's greed was that this was just a gun barrel. If it were an entire firearm, whether a pistol or a Machine Gun, it would demand an even steeper price, with dozens of subsequent processes awaiting him.
All things considered, a decade or two of savings for a Superpowered Individual might only afford them a single Psychic Weapon.
Of course, possessing such a weapon would make one significantly stronger. Along the path to acquiring this wealth, their Superpower would also evolve, and their earning potential would soar.
Technology was advancing; Zheng Yifan had taken his first step out of the apocalypse. The future promised to be brighter.
Yet many concerns still lay ahead—more responsibilities and an increasingly hectic life. With spring approaching, the Zombie threat would soon resurface.
Just as Zheng Yifan was about to turn back, he heard a sharp sound like steel clashing.
“Uncle Cui! Uncle Qin! Could you two do me a favor? Isn’t there usually a gift when buying something? Just refine a trigger for me; I don’t even need you to refine the springs for the other components.”
“Please help me out for Sister Han!” The voice continued pleading with the two administrators at the factory.
These two were once fierce competitors who had bought out all victories at the Howling Wind Gathering Place.
However, the two of them ended up with nothing after a gambling session, not even their pants. Although they had won, there was no place to cash in their winnings.
By a stroke of luck, they ended up following Zheng Yifan out.
When the Hope Gathering Place was first established, they began their business and it grew larger and larger, becoming two of the most prominent merchants within the Gathering Place.
However, when it came time to recruit new factory Administrators in the Gathering Place, the two Old Buddies who had already consumed A-Level Essence collectively pledged their loyalty to the Hope Gathering Place, becoming the two Administrators of Factory 1.
Among them, Old Cui was the Factory Director of the Superpower Weapon Manufacturing Plant that specialized in custom weapons. Meanwhile, Old Qin was the Factory Director of the mass production weapons plant.
The management team formed by these two oversaw the entire factory, where those mass-produced Psychic Weapons were intended for military use. They were produced according to mass production specifications, combining technological power with the strength of Superpowered Individuals for large-scale manufacturing.
Of course, this so-called large-scale production only amounted to about twenty or thirty weapons at most.
Moreover, this required the custom factory employees to assist during their downtime to achieve such output.
After all, Primordial Iron was exceedingly precious; even the lowest grade scraps of Primordial Iron were extremely expensive. This production volume was already at the limit that Hope Gathering Place could sustain.
Primordial Iron was not easy to smelt; it required a large amount of Zombie Crystal as fuel. What further limited production was that the entire manufacturing plant's Zombie Crystal could only support so much based on its Vital Energy recovery speed. Once that limit was reached, the factory's Superpower array would forcibly halt any consumption of Zombie Crystal until the Zombie Crystal within the array was automatically replenished.
