The Gate swung wide open, unleashing an unprecedented frenzy among the Zombies. Fifty Butchers formed a line, their fire extinguishers gradually losing their effectiveness as the flames on the ground began to flicker and fade, leaving only a faint glimmer of fire. 0

"Brothers, the chance for battle has come! As long as we take down these damned Zombies, we will be free. Kill them!" Jiang Daosheng shouted, wielding his guns with both hands. The long guns transformed into a flurry of stars, taking out one Zombie after another at the entrance of a passageway. 0

A dozen men armed with long guns gathered around him, working together to fend off the advancing Zombies. 0

The others at the three Gates also did their best to hold back the onslaught. 0

"Roar!" The Zombies howled loudly, but the narrow Gate could only accommodate ten Zombies at most at a time. The bodies of fallen Zombies littered the ground, obstructing their advance. 0

Flecks of starlight spread across the corpses of the Zombies, igniting them rapidly. The dead Zombies became excellent fuel, spreading flames to their companions, which would then explode in an instant upon their demise. 0

The flames became a death knell for the Zombies, further blocking their path forward. 0

The design of the Gate had anticipated this very scenario from the beginning. 0

The Zombies in the Sewers were packed tighter than sardines in a can, preventing those behind them from moving forward. 0

Gradually, the Zombies began to surge against the nearby Fence. 0

"Ouch!" Behind the Fence, a young boy pushing a Crossbow Bolt Cart stumbled and fell to the ground, his right arm scraping against a shallow wound. 0

"What bad luck! Look at you bunch of losers—acting all high and mighty back then, frequenting upscale places, playing with girls at night, and turning my girlfriend into one of your harem. Ugh!" He spat angrily. The boy sucked on the blood from his wound before spitting it onto the ground. 0

The shallow cut gradually stopped bleeding. 0

He then pushed his Crossbow Bolt Cart slowly back to the Arrow Platform, ready to clear out the Gladiatorial Arena at any moment. 0

A drop of blood might usually be just a wound. 0

But to the Zombies, it was the intoxicating scent of fresh blood, a single drop that pointed them toward their path forward. 0

The Zombies' vision had deteriorated, their sight limited to no more than three meters. However, their hearing and sense of smell had increased exponentially, allowing them to detect the scent of blood from hundreds of meters away, almost as keenly as a shark. They could even hear the heartbeat of living creatures with precision. 0

This was how they distinguished other beings. 0

The stench emanating from them also signaled their location to their companions. 0

Now, a drop of blood revealed a new path, one filled with fresh blood, delicious food, and an increasing presence of living beings. 0

Ahead lay their kindred spirits; initially, they were drawn by the scent of lifeless blood from afar, tantalizing yet out of reach. But this single drop of fresh blood was close at hand, just ahead. 0

In comparison, the scent of this drop drove them into a frenzy. 0

Countless Zombies began to crowd around the Fence, stretching out their arms in desperate attempts to grasp something. The Fence trembled under their relentless assault. 0

The original purpose of this Fence was to make the Zombies believe it was a wall, directing them toward the Gladiatorial Arena. Yet now, a drop of fresh blood attracted them as they continued to batter against the flimsy Fence. However, if this persisted, they would never break through. 0

Yet the Organizing Committee issued a foolish command for all crossbows to withdraw, causing the Second-Level Zombies to lose their sense of intimidation and gradually widen the height restriction of the passage as they moved into the Sewers. 0

The hierarchical oppression among the Zombies allowed those at the front to gradually create a gap for the Second-Level Zombies to squeeze through. 0

Zombies were boundless, and soon there were more Second-Level Zombies appearing. The only ones not seen were those above Third Stage. 0

But even this was enough for the Zombies to break through and overcome fifty Butchers blocking their way. 0

Fortunately, they had not sustained any injuries during the battle, and not a drop of blood had been shed. The bloodstains on the ground had gradually dried up, leaving behind a thick, metallic scent. 0

Without fresh blood, the attraction was steadily diminishing. It was akin to a glass of fresh milk compared to one that had been expired for a week; only fresh blood held the greatest allure for them. 0

However, a trickle of blood seeped from the arm of the Crossbowman's assistant. Just a single drop, but for the Zombies, it was the clearest signal. 0

"Roar!" A furious growl erupted as the leading Zombie cautiously approached the Fence, sniffing at the ground where that droplet of saliva-tainted blood lay. A faint scent of blood wafted from beyond the Fence in the distance. 0

On the other hand, there was an overwhelming stench of blood. This aroma intoxicated every Zombie; to them, it was a delightful fragrance. 0

After much hesitation, the Zombie made a decision with its underdeveloped brain and turned its head to charge fiercely at the Fence. 0

The Fence, which stood firm against First-Level Zombies, crumbled like paper before the Second-Level Zombie. Once transformed into a Second Tier creature, it became an entirely different being with immense strength. 0

With a gentle swing of its mangled arm in front of the rusted Fence, it twisted and contorted beyond recognition. Then, with a powerful kick forward, the entire Fence door collapsed to the ground, unable to withstand the Zombie's advance. 0

Beyond the Fence lay a long corridor leading to a destination over a hundred meters away, near the elevated platform of the Inner City—the Arrow Platform. 0

On the Arrow Platform, crossbowmen strained to lift their bolts while hammering down on the winch to draw back the bowstring. 0

As they exerted more force, drops of blood began to trickle out. The Zombies were becoming increasingly agitated; for them, a distance of just over a hundred meters felt like it was within arm's reach. 0

"Roar!" A resounding roar echoed, striking fear into hearts. 0

Today marked Liu Shenghao's third time standing atop the Arrow Tower in the Inner City. Once the bolt was properly loaded and drawn back, all that remained was to wait for that final hammer strike to launch it. 0

"Roar!" The roar of the Zombie suddenly echoed, as if it were right behind him. 0

"What is happening? I feel an overwhelming sense of dread." Liu Shenghao pressed his trembling legs down firmly, tugging at his collar to stave off the cold. 0

He couldn't tell if it was the wind that chilled him or if something was amiss. 0

The sounds of the Zombies' roars seemed to be drawing closer. 0

"It seems... something is definitely wrong." Liu Shenghao glanced around at the people nearby, then turned back. Before him lay a dark passage, and he knew there were countless Zombies lurking within. 0

Lowering his head, Liu Shenghao crouched down to peer inside. 0

Sunlight streamed onto the ground, casting a beam that illuminated the depths of the passage through a puddle. 0

Faintly, he caught sight of a decaying face, with two maggots wriggling out from its eyes, as if mocking his ignorance and naivety. 0

Then came a furious roar, and the Zombies went wild. 0

The Zombie stood fully exposed in the flickering light, clad in a once-custom high-end suit. Wanda Feli's watch was smeared with blood, and a long tail protruded from its coccyx, its sharp tip resembling a deadly weapon that sent chills down one's spine. 0
