From above, the vast plain resembled an enormous, boundless chessboard. At this moment, the pieces on it were entangled in fierce combat, occasionally illuminated by bursts of fireworks in various colors that erupted at different spots on the board, only to gradually fade away in the air. 0

The clash of pieces indicated that a battle was in full swing. Under the cover of night, the explosions were particularly vibrant and striking. Jufeng and his two companions moved along the edges of the board, searching for isolated enemies to encircle and eliminate. 0

To be honest, this was Jufeng's first experience witnessing such a large-scale battlefield—a true battlefield filled with bloodshed and gunfire, far more composed and brutal than the skirmishes in the Underworld. As he searched, he couldn't help but lament the world's misfortunes, feeling that true harmony seemed forever out of reach. 0

Not far ahead, a Terrorist's mech was blown away by artillery fire—unfortunately fortunate. The shell was merely a stray shot that hadn't locked onto anyone specific; however, it struck him nonetheless. Fortunately, the blast did not hit the mech's main body. Although he was thrown far from the explosion's shockwave, he suffered no fatal injuries. 0

Regrettably, as the Terrorist regained consciousness from the shock, he had barely begun to celebrate when Jufeng and his companions locked onto him. 0

Liu Gulang charged first, sprinting across the ground. Before the Terrorist could stabilize his mech, Liu leaped into action, his Iron Arm sweeping toward the enemy's head. The Terrorist, just managing to rise, immediately collapsed once more. 0

Liu Gulang landed and grabbed one of the fallen mech's legs, activating his Thruster to move toward the edge. However, Liu had misjudged the explosion's impact on the Terrorist; unexpectedly, the Terrorist quickly recovered. The body being dragged along suddenly reacted as one leg kicked Liu Gulang hard enough to send him stumbling. 0

Taking advantage of this moment, the Terrorist swiftly stood up. The shell on his back suddenly lit up—a prelude to imminent fire. 0

At such close range, even if Liu Gulang survived, he would certainly be injured; this could very well be a classic case of "a single misstep leading to eternal regret." 0

With his mech still weakened and lacking any leverage to turn the tide, Liu found himself in dire straits as the shell behind him was already primed for launch—almost as if one foot had already stepped into death's door. 0

Just at that critical moment, a shell flew over Liu Gulang's head and struck the Terrorist behind him, blasting him away from his original position. The well-prepared bomb shot out like an arrow but changed direction and landed in an open area. 0

Liu Gulang looked back at the now-destroyed Terrorist with lingering fear and let out a long sigh of relief before turning to Vera with gratitude. "Thank you." 0

Vera replied softly, "It was nothing." 0

Jufeng and Vera approached Liu Gulang's side. Romain patted Lone Wolf on the shoulder—no words were needed; it spoke volumes more than a thousand words could convey. 0

It was just unfortunate that such a hard-won opportunity to take down an isolated enemy had slipped away so easily. 0

The battle had been ongoing for a long time, with the night growing deeper and then lighter again. The disadvantages faced by the Terrorists became increasingly apparent, and their casualties were severe. 0

If this situation continued, the Terrorists would inevitably face total annihilation, at least for those involved in this assault on the planet. They had not inflicted significant damage; they could retreat without any gains, as this place was essentially a barren wasteland. The location where the Terrorists had appeared was in the mountains, offering no strategic advantage. 0

However, would they really end their provocation in such a half-hearted manner, resulting in a situation where even retreating would be difficult? 0

Clearly not; at least, they would not allow those detestable Cosmic Police to suffer so little damage. Thus, in the face of overwhelming disadvantage, they were determined to strike back fiercely. 0

Even at the cost of their lives! 0

So, another self-detonation began. 0

Jufeng and his companions were still searching for the Terrorists to investigate when suddenly an explosion rang out in their ears. The energy shockwave swept over them like a storm, pressing down with the force of towering waves. Jufeng and his companions were caught off guard, their mechs leaning forward as they braced themselves. 0

A hurricane seemed to rise from the ground, leaving no mech standing within the vicinity. Those fortunate enough to be positioned further away from the blast immediately ceased fighting, wary of their nearby foes who had met such a heroic end. 0

However, the self-detonation served as a signal; the remaining Terrorists received the cue and responded with their own self-destructs. It was as if firecrackers were going off on New Year's Eve—one after another, explosions erupted, and in that instant, the entire area descended into chaos. 0

Mushroom clouds blossomed across the vast plain, thick smoke and dust quickly engulfing the orderly world around them. All combat ceased at that moment. 0

After the explosions, dense clouds of dust lingered between the earth and sky, slowly dissipating but difficult to clear away completely. Visibility became exceedingly poor; no one could confirm how many survivors might remain after this catastrophe. 0

But surely those Terrorists had vanished completely. 0

Amidst the rubble and shattered armor, an Iron Arm of a mech suddenly emerged. Moments later, debris began to tumble violently as a mech appeared on the plain. 0

Jufeng shook his head to clear it from the lingering shockwaves and stood still for a moment to regain his senses. As he recalled what had just transpired, he experienced a brief mental lapse that lasted several seconds. 0

Returning to reality, Jufeng examined his body and felt relieved to find that, aside from some superficial injuries, the core of his mech remained unaffected. He quickly scanned the surroundings but only saw uneven mounds of earth and depressions; Vera and Liu Gulang were nowhere in sight. 0

Jufeng activated his communicator, urgency in his voice. "Vera, Lone Wolf, are you both okay?" 0

Two seconds later, a response came through the comms—it was Liu Gulang's voice. 0

"Brother Jufeng, I'm not dead yet." 0

From about ten meters to Jufeng's right, a mech emerged from the dirt mound. Vera's voice followed in the comms, confirming she was fine as well, although she was much farther away—over fifty meters from him. 0

Jufeng hurried to regroup with Liu Gulang and Vera, inquiring about their conditions. Liu Gulang's situation was rather grim; one of his mech's legs was out of control, and part of an arm was missing. 0

Vera fared slightly better; she could still move but had sustained minor damage to her control center, meaning her mech's movements would no longer be as agile. 0

This was partly due to the fact that the three had been maneuvering around the outskirts of the battlefield, which resulted in less severe damage compared to those mechs caught at the center of the conflict. It was easy to imagine how devastating their fates must have been. 0

Recalling the night of the concert on Earth when over a thousand people fought fiercely—it had been spectacular—but compared to the current scene of devastation, it felt like a different world altogether. Jufeng looked at the gradually clearing battlefield with a complicated heart; less than one-tenth of the mechs were still standing. 0

Suddenly, Jufeng realized that Hua Cheng's earlier mockery of him wasn't unfounded. They indeed had reasons for their arrogance and held a noble stature that truly deserved admiration. 0

He just hoped they could survive. 0

After confirming that Vera and Liu Gulang were safe, Jufeng silently walked toward the center of the battlefield to assist those survivors struggling to crawl out from the ruins and regain their lives. 0

Vera, still able to move, followed Jufeng’s lead to rescue the severely injured Cosmic Police officers. Meanwhile, Liu Gulang couldn't traverse the ground and instead remained stationary, continuously sending out distress signals in hopes that other Cosmic Police members elsewhere on this planet would come to their aid. 0

There were about two hundred members of the Ironclad Troops fighting here; however, upon rough estimation, only about one-tenth had survived. The brutal outcome had secured victory—none of the Terrorists should have remained. 0

Jufeng thought that such a tragic victory should put an end to the current terrorist events. Vera shared this sentiment; even the usually emotionless woman felt her heart race. Liu Gulang also thought the same, which is why he felt at ease sending out a distress signal from his position. 0

However, things did not unfold as everyone had anticipated. 0

Boom! 0

The sound of mechas flying from the direction of the mountains they had just patrolled caught everyone's attention, and they all turned to look. 0

Before long, the first mecha appeared, followed closely by a second, and then another... 0

Sadly, they were not camouflaged. 0
