Recently, I have been having a strange dream. I find myself in a dense forest, living side by side with a graceful white creature, close and intimate. Yet, it always wears a mask that obscures its face, shrouded in mystery. Every time I reach out to remove its mask, I wake up in a start.
This enigmatic dream, like the enigma itself. Finally, one day, I woke up.
I was walking home when a few sneaky figures approached me. They covered my mouth and nose with some kind of drug, and in an instant, I felt utterly powerless as they dragged me into a car. In the darkness, my heart raced wildly, as if it were about to leap from my chest. The sound of my heartbeat echoed in my ears like the drumbeats of death.
I had never felt such a threat of death before, nor had I ever felt so helpless. I had been kidnapped!
When I finally regained consciousness, I found myself in a dim and damp room, my hands and feet tightly bound, unable to move. Just then, the door swung open, and a familiar face appeared before me.
It was Han Feng, my boyfriend. No, I should say ex-boyfriend now. Because just the day before my kidnapping, I had broken up with him.
" Lin Yue, what kind of trick are you playing this time?" Han Feng stood in the light, looking down at me from above.
I was suddenly bewildered by his question. "What trick? I've been kidnapped! You have to save me!"
Han Feng scoffed coldly. "Hmph! Do you think I'll believe that? You've used every trick in the book to leave me; who knows what scheme you're concocting this time!"
In that moment, it dawned on me that he believed this was all part of my plan to escape him.
I weakly protested, "I haven't! I'm really—"
Before I could finish my sentence, he slammed the door shut and his footsteps faded away.
Watching Han Feng's retreating figure, I felt a mix of emotions swirling within me. There was no point in explaining anything now; I could only rely on myself.
I looked around and found myself in a mysterious Underground Beast Arena, surrounded by solid stone walls. Each wall was lined with iron-barred cells, housing various ferocious beasts that let out deafening roars.
Tears streamed down my face uncontrollably. Who would come to save me?
Suddenly, I remembered the bracelet on my wrist, a keepsake from my grandmother. Inside it was hidden a Dagger, which I had been told not to use unless absolutely necessary.
Now seemed to be that time.
I struggled to rub the bracelet, finally managing to extract the Dagger. Carefully, I cut through the ropes binding me.
I tiptoed toward the exit, terrified of startling the beasts.
Suddenly, a massive creature spotted me and lunged in my direction. I screamed in fright and darted into an empty cell nearby.
But it wasn’t safe here; it seemed to be… the beast's cell.
I glanced around and noticed one cage that was unlocked, containing a white animal. I didn’t think twice and squeezed myself inside.
Once inside, I realized it was a white tiger, quietly lying there. Fear gripped me, but as it lay on the ground watching me, it didn’t seem inclined to attack.
Its face looked familiar, as if I had seen it somewhere before…
I fainted from hunger and collapsed on the ground. When I woke up, I found the white tiger lying beside me.
It offered me food, its eyes filled with tenderness.
I opened my eyes and greedily ate what was given to me.
Reality and dreams intertwined in that moment. For a while, I couldn’t tell what was real and what was merely a dream.
