Infinite Strongest G
As a sage standing at the forefront of the era, Merlin naturally had an understanding of the gaming world. From the various changes observed so far, this PUBG was far from the virtual world experience software he had imagined; it was a true Virtual Online Game.
Was the game merely a carrier? How interesting!
Merlin had to admit that despite the great disruptive potential of the Virtual Helmet, its appeal was still somewhat lacking for widespread adoption in households.
The emergence of this game perfectly filled the void left by the Virtual Helmet, which had little to offer beyond technological experience.
After all, with the arrival of a genuine Virtual Online Game, one could only imagine how many players would go crazy over it. This was a real immersive gaming experience, not something that VR could provide.
Using online gaming to mask the current shortcomings of the Virtual Helmet, Merlin couldn't help but admire the cleverness of this company's strategy. As long as everything operated smoothly and this game wasn't too disappointing, PUBG would surely become a massive success.
Just as Merlin was lost in thought, a female voice from the System began introducing him to the game's features and gameplay.
After the introduction, Merlin finally understood what that constantly changing electronic map in the lower corner of his view was all about, and he grasped what kind of game this was.
"One thousand people competing for survival on a deserted island? Interesting!" Merlin felt a long-lost excitement suddenly ignited within him by this game.
As a veteran, young Merlin had represented the Ugly Nation in battles across many places. Although he was older now, the passion in his heart had never subsided.
This game mode, where a thousand players fought and only one could survive, combined with an unprecedented immersive experience in the virtual world, reignited Merlin's spirit.
Indeed, ever since Li Hong's last parachute survival challenge with just one hundred participants felt too small, Mark had readily increased that number to one thousand.
Indeed, as Li Hong had pointed out, having a hundred players scattered across this one-to-one map was simply too sparse. To ensure that players encountered each other more frequently and to enhance the gaming experience, Mark quickly raised the maximum number of competitors to one thousand.
Moreover, for reasons known only to him, Mark whimsically decided to transport these one thousand players across four planes. Each plane flew at the same speed, but their flight paths were completely random. This meant that it was possible for all four planes to converge on the same route or for them to take entirely different paths.
This change added a significant amount of fun to the game. While it might cause some dissatisfaction among certain players, overall, it was not an issue.
Merlin found himself on one of the planes with a unique flight path. Aside from him, the remaining two hundred forty-nine players were all controlled by computer programs.
This was unavoidable; currently, PUBG was still in development and internal testing. Although it was nearly complete, until the Virtual Helmet was launched for sale, their player base would not materialize.
Merlin could be considered the first outsider to experience PUBG, aside from Sweet Potato Technology.
Of course, Merlin was unaware of this. Years of instinct led him to notice that the players sitting next to him appeared somewhat wooden and dull. Such behavior likely indicated that these players were not being controlled by real people but rather by computer programs.
This realization dampened Merlin's enthusiasm significantly. In his view, slaughtering players and slaughtering robots felt like two entirely different experiences.
However, he could understand the company's approach; since their Virtual Helmet had not yet been released, they likely had not developed a customer base. Thus, he might very well be the only player in this PUBG.
In this situation, it was clear that they would not spend a fortune hiring over nine hundred people just to play a game with Merlin.
The presence of robots already felt like a decent outcome to him.
Soon enough, the cabin filled with the captain's furious voice urging them on: "Jump now, you fools!"
Merlin immediately complied with the order, disregarding whether this was a game or what location was displayed on the map, and jumped straight out.
Before Merlin jumped from the plane, several robots had already made their descent. This was one of the aspects that Mark had repaired earlier; it was evident that the previous robots had issues with timing their jumps, often resulting in a situation where a robot would be forced to jump last.
When this happened, those robots were likely to be caught outside the safe zone after it refreshed, unable to escape the toxic area in time and ultimately succumbing to the poison.
To prevent such occurrences, Mark patiently added a program for the robots to better time their jumps. Generally, as long as there was a named point on the map below, the robots could jump.
However, it wasn't a chaotic free-for-all; each robot would only jump a portion at a time, completing their descent gradually.
With this mechanism in place, Mark minimized unnecessary losses for the robots and provided players with a more enjoyable gaming experience.
After all, it was predictable that when Virtual Helmet first launched, robots would play a significant role.
Once Merlin jumped from the plane, he noticed something different. This parachuting experience was much simpler and easier compared to real-life skydiving.
All around him was a vast expanse of white, with slowly moving clouds that helped to relax his mind. After all, skydiving is an exhilarating activity, especially in this virtual world; if players were truly frightened by it, Li Hong could not bear that responsibility.
Because of this concern, Li Hong had given Mark and the others strict orders. The entire parachuting process needed to be simplified and smoothed out. While it didn't have to be as straightforward as some online games, it certainly couldn't be frightening.
This was a virtual world where realism and immersion rivaled that of reality. In such circumstances, it wasn't impossible for players to be genuinely scared.
At least in Li Hong's view, this was an aspect that needed to be guarded against.
Initially, Merlin was somewhat anxious; he feared that the realism of the parachuting process might become overwhelming. However, now that he experienced the smooth descent, he felt relieved of his only concern.
"That was an incredible skydiving experience! I felt amazing!" Merlin exclaimed eagerly as soon as he landed.
Merlin glanced around and realized he had unknowingly fallen onto a desolate mountaintop.
Fortunately, the map in the lower right corner consistently displayed his location.
After a quick look at the map, Merlin decided to head east.
This was because the map indicated the presence of an Air Raid Shelter to the east.
Merlin needed weapons and supplies, and he felt that the name Air Raid Shelter was worth the risk of adventure.
He was determined to defeat all the robots and become the last survivor, Merlin!
With that cheerful decision made, he set his sights on the Air Raid Shelter!
