Despite her dissatisfaction with the beautiful sister, Yuchen obediently allowed Lin Ruxian to hold his hand.
"Hello, teacher. I am Li Yuchen's mother. If his father is busy with work in the future, it might be me picking him up," Lin Ruxian said with a smile as she extended her hand.

"Where are you running off to? My parents want to meet you!"
Li Hong's expression darkened as he shook his head vigorously. "No way, I'm not going to meet your parents."
If her parents found out about his relationship with Lin Ruxian, they would probably come at him with a kitchen knife. Although this had nothing to do with him and he hadn't done anything wrong, would they listen? In their eyes, he would surely be the villain who had taken their daughter away.
Thinking of all this, Li Hong firmly refused to go.
Lin Ruxian grew a bit angry. "Are you really not going?"
"I'm not going!" Li Hong replied resolutely.
Lin Ruxian pulled out a red booklet again and declared earnestly, "You are my husband now; you have to go."

"I don't care. Are you going or not? If you don't go, my parents will kick me out. If that happens, I'll have nowhere to stay, and I'll end up living at your place," Lin Ruxian lightly threatened.
Li Hong's eyes nearly popped out. What kind of logic was this?
Thinking about how Lin Ruxian might move into his home and disrupt his world with Yuchen, Li Hong felt he had no choice but to go along with it.

Lin Ruxian smiled, grabbing Li Hong's wrist. "Then let's go, stop dawdling."

Lin Ruxian's home was located above the breakfast shop owned by her father. To put it simply, the entire four-story building belonged to Lin Ruxian's family.
Li Hong found nothing strange about this. Although it was rare to have a four-story building in the heart of the bustling capital, considering that Lin Ruxian was a local and a big star who didn't lack money, it made perfect sense.
The breakfast shop was closed today, and the roll-up door had been pulled down at some point. Lin Ruxian led Li Hong through the alley behind the shop and opened the door, guiding him up the stairs.
They walked all the way to the second floor, where Lin Ruxian finally stopped in front of a door adorned with a character for good fortune.
"Knock knock!"
After knocking, a man's voice quickly came from inside. "Coming, coming!"
The door swung open to reveal Lin Zhengfeng standing there in an apron, his hands dusted with flour.
"Hello, Uncle," Li Hong said shyly.
This was his first experience in such a situation, and Li Hong felt suddenly very awkward.
Lin Zhengfeng simply replied with a casual "Oh, you're here," before moving on.
Lin Zhengfeng blocked the doorway, preventing the two from entering the house. Li Hong stood awkwardly, unsure of what to do, while Lin Zhengfeng's gaze seemed fixated on Li Hong's hands for some reason.
Li Hong rubbed his hands together, feeling out of place.
It was Lin Ruxian's quick wit that made her realize her father's intentions. Suddenly, she turned to the embarrassed Li Hong and said, "Hey, darling, why didn’t you bring the gift for Dad?"
"Ah?" Li Hong snapped back to reality.
So that strange look from Lin Zhengfeng was questioning why he hadn’t brought a gift?
Honestly, Li Hong wished he could just dig a hole and hide in it. It was so embarrassing—showing up as a newlywed son-in-law empty-handed was just unacceptable. No wonder the old man was giving him that look.
"I... I left it in the car. I'll go get it right now," Li Hong said quickly, trying to think on his feet.
"Take the keys!"
Lin Ruxian handed the keys to Li Hong and whispered to him when Lin Zhengfeng wasn’t paying attention, "My dad has a big smoking habit."
Li Hong nodded in understanding and hurried downstairs.
Once Li Hong left, Lin Zhengfeng's face was filled with helplessness as he scolded Lin Ruxian beside him, "Look at this! This is the man you insisted on marrying? He doesn’t even have the sense to bring a simple gift!"
"Dad, come on," Lin Ruxian quickly moved closer and hugged Lin Zhengfeng's arm, pouting playfully. "Li Hong isn’t meeting my parents for the first time; it’s understandable that he doesn’t know these things."
"Understandable? When I met your grandparents decades ago, I had to bring two pounds of pork with me! Who dares to visit their in-laws empty-handed like he did?"
With that, Lin Zhengfeng said angrily, "If you two hadn’t already gotten married behind my back and had a child, I would have broken you apart long ago."
"What's going on? Why are you two arguing as soon as you meet?" Lin Ruxian's mother stepped out.
Lin Zhengfeng huffed, "What else could it be? I was almost driven mad by my clumsy son-in-law."
"Huh?"
Lin Ruxian's mother asked in surprise, "What happened? Old Lin, didn't we agree to be civil? Did you get into another argument?"
Then, noticing the absence of Li Hong, she frowned and asked, "Where's my son-in-law? Did you scare him off?"
"Don't worry, I don't have the ability to scare him away," Lin Zhengfeng quickly denied.
Lin Ruxian smiled and chimed in, "It's fine, Mom. You don't need to worry. Li Hong went downstairs to get something for Dad. He didn't know about all this before, and Dad wouldn't let him in."
