Infinite Strongest G
Mark had no idea how Li Hong managed it, but he was just a genuinely good person.
What started as a decent third-person shooter game had somehow turned into a collection game.
From the moment they jumped out of the plane, Mark and Li Hong wandered around the map as if they were playing a single-player game.
Watching the constant notifications of players dying outside the safe zone in the bottom right corner, Li Hong felt it was quite pointless.
With no one to be seen, everyone was getting eliminated. Was this really just a game about collecting weapons and ammunition? They carried so many weapons but hadn’t fired a single shot before getting eliminated; Li Hong was utterly speechless.
After the first safe zone had closed, only half of the robots remained.
The second safe zone appeared in the upper left corner of the map, still quite a distance from where Li Hong and Mark were.
After wandering around the airport for a while, the two, now loaded with gear, hopped into a Jeep and headed toward the safe zone.
Driving in PUBG was also a skill in itself. Although the controls had been simplified for player accessibility, driving still required acceleration and deceleration. For many who didn’t know how to drive, it remained a challenging task.
Fortunately, while Mark couldn’t drive, Li Hong could. Thus, they safely made it to the safe zone within the time limit.
However, upon arriving at the safe zone, they discovered that all the remaining robots had already been eliminated outside of it.
Without doing anything at all, they were teleported back to Spawn Island.
"These robots really aren't up to par; the gaming experience is terrible," Li Hong remarked.
Mark awkwardly nodded. He hadn’t expected these robots to be so embarrassing. However, it was fortunate that this game relied heavily on player versus player combat; robots had no real place in it. This meant that even if the robots were subpar, it wouldn’t affect the gaming experience when the servers went live.
As long as there were over a hundred players, a perfect experience could be achieved. This condition was easily met; just with the designers from Riot Games and staff from Sweet Potato Films alone could carry them through the early stages.
"Boss, we received a reply from Penguin. The acquisition funds have been transferred to Sweet Potato Films' account. They’re asking when we can deliver Riot," Tiamat approached to inquire.
At this moment, Li Hong and Mark had already removed their Virtual Helmets and returned to reality. Therefore, Li Hong felt no surprise at Tiamat's appearance before them.
"Has the money been transferred? Then let's proceed with the handover," Li Hong said nonchalantly.
It was a good thing to transfer the Fist Game project to Penguin as soon as possible; at least the designers could free up their hands quickly.
"Hand over all the data and call someone to take down the Fist Game logo as well," Li Hong instructed Mark.
According to the agreement between him and Penguin, they did not need to transfer the server equipment or personnel locations. After acquiring the Goddess Alliance, Penguin would move everything to Peng City for operations. The venue in Beijing was, for them, like a useless piece of chicken rib.
Since Penguin didn't want it, Li Hong had nothing to say. If they didn't want it, they could continue using it.
Coincidentally, Sweet Potato Films was right downstairs, so they could look out for each other while being in the same building—this was an unexpected benefit.
However, while they didn’t have to move, they could no longer use the name Fist Game. That was easy enough; they just needed to remove the company logo from the entrance.
Once the logo was taken down and the company sold to Penguin, they would have to create a new company.
Fortunately, Li Hong had already asked Mark to handle this matter. He didn't need any fancy name; just following Sweet Potato would suffice.
Sweet Potato Technology Co., Ltd.!
That would be the new name for Fist Game going forward. What Penguin acquired was merely the ownership of Goddess Alliance and the name of Fist Game. Everything else would remain under Sweet Potato Technology Co., Ltd.
"Boss, we've taken down the Fist Game logo. Should we put up the new company's logo?" Mark inquired.
"Go ahead and put it up; it'll save us some trouble."
Li Hong was indifferent about it; there wasn't much difference whether they hung it or not. But since Mark brought it up, they might as well hang up the new company's logo on the Thirteenth Floor of Baisheng Building.
Tiamat returned once more and said to Li Hong, "Boss, Penguin just held a press conference and announced the acquisition offer to the public."
"Let them be; it will be exposed sooner or later anyway." Li Hong did not express any outrage at Penguin's actions.
If he were in their position, he would probably take the opportunity to inform the public about the progress of the situation. Once such news is released, it would undoubtedly serve as a massive advertisement for Penguin.
How could one miss out on such a good opportunity?
Logging onto Weibo after a long absence, Li Hong was surprised to find that he had suddenly become an internet celebrity.
Countless influencers and celebrities had followed him, and a post he made not long ago had been inundated with comments from netizens.
After scanning through the comments, Li Hong finally understood what all the fuss was about.
Some criticized him for being blinded by money, claiming he sold the game to a greedy company like Penguin.
Others commented that he was short-sighted, pointing out that Goddess Alliance would soon bring him greater profits, yet he chose to sell it at this time.
However, the majority of netizens were urging Li Hong not to sell his company; they didn't want to play a version of Goddess Alliance tainted by commercialism.
Numerous industry leaders also shared their opinions on Li Hong's decision to sell his company.
Surprisingly, none of them criticized him for making a mistake or lacking vision. Instead, they praised Li Hong's actions, stating that he was doing it to provide players with a better gaming experience.
"Looking at the world, Penguin is perhaps the company that understands how to make games best. Handing Goddess Alliance over to Penguin is undoubtedly a very wise decision."
These statements left fans who had nowhere else to vent their anger feeling lost and confused.
The atmosphere on Weibo was charged with tension!
After reading through everything, Li Hong shook his head and revealed a wry smile.
He would never believe that these industry professionals were being paid off by Penguin to say nice things. However, it was still beneficial; at least these voices helped alleviate some of the pressure weighing on him.
The Goddess Alliance was a colossal money-making beast. If it weren't for the emergence of the Virtual Helmet, Li Hong would never have considered selling it.
But now, since the game was destined to decline, how could he possibly hold onto it any longer?
Although it seemed like a good idea to cash in on the Goddess Alliance first and then sell it at a high price while it was still popular, ultimately using the Virtual Helmet to eliminate the Goddess Alliance altogether was also appealing.
However, Li Hong couldn't wait that long. The lifespan of the Goddess Alliance game could be surprisingly long. If he were to wait for its golden period, it would take at least two or three years.
Could he really endure holding onto the virtual world and patiently waiting for two or three years? Li Hong certainly didn't have that kind of patience. After all, with the virtual world in hand, who could stand being lonely and foolishly waiting for two or three years?
Since waiting wasn't an option, was there any problem with making a move now? No, there was absolutely no issue with that.
Continuing to operate the Goddess Alliance could yield far more than just a billion. Moreover, by that time, selling the Goddess Alliance wouldn't fetch this price anymore.
But spending so much time just to earn a little extra money didn't seem worth it. With the virtual world going online, he could recover any losses within minutes.
