After discussing these matters, Li Hong did not linger any longer.
Soon, he took the elevator to the twelfth floor of Baisheng Building, where Sweet Potato Films was located.
Sweet Potato Films had a new movie that was about to be released. As the boss, Li Hong didn't care much about the profits from Sweet Potato, but he still decided to come and check on the situation.
Upon entering the editing room, Li Hong immediately spotted Lu Mao and several others busy at work.
"How's it going? Can New Movie guarantee an on-time release?" Li Hong leaned in to ask.
Lu Mao looked up, slightly surprised. "Boss, what brings you here?"
"Don't ask too many questions. Just tell me when New Movie will be released."
Li Hong replied impatiently, "This film has been dragging on for so long. So, can it be sorted out now?"
Lu Mao's New Movie had been in planning since the release of I Am Red Riding Hood, I Love the Big Bad Wolf. Several months had passed, yet there was still no news.
This was Sweet Potato Films' second project and Lu Mao's second directorial effort.
The success or failure of this film was crucial for Sweet Potato Films' standing in the Entertainment Industry. Therefore, Li Hong was quite concerned.
Lu Mao shook his head. "Boss, we've actually finished filming a long time ago. However, we're currently stuck in the review process."
"What’s going on? Wasn't the review process going smoothly? Why are we stuck here?" Li Hong asked in confusion.
With Cameron's foundation left behind, Sweet Potato had always had a smooth review process. The previous film, I Am Red Riding Hood, I Love the Big Bad Wolf, went through without a hitch. Li Hong never expected that Sweet Potato Films would encounter issues at this stage.
Lu Mao explained awkwardly, "Boss, some scenes in our film are too dark. The higher-ups want us to cut them before it can be screened. But if we cut those scenes, the whole film will feel disjointed. I'm struggling with this issue; reshooting might not be feasible at this point. There's really not much we can do right now."
"What dark scenes?" Upon hearing this, Li Hong immediately became interested.
If he remembered correctly, Lu Mao's film seemed to be Youth Pain Film, right? Such films usually just talk about youth and abortion; what dark scenes could there possibly be?
Knowing that Li Hong was confused, Lu Mao didn't elaborate much. He turned on the projector on the table and prepared to show a sample clip to Li Hong.
As the sample began to play, the cheerful face of Soul Sphere appeared on screen.
The surrounding background clearly depicted a rural school from over a decade ago.
A bald teacher with a Mediterranean hairstyle stood at the podium, continuously reprimanding Soul Sphere.
"Why aren't you studying properly? Why do you have to disturb your female classmates?"
"Just because you're falling behind doesn't mean you have to drag others down with you!"
"Have you ever thought about how this could ruin someone else's life?"
The bald teacher's scolding continued, while Soul Sphere on screen appeared somewhat distracted.
The scene shifted quickly to the entrance of a school.
A woman selling ice cream was calling out to the students coming and going at the school gate. Soul Sphere, dressed in a non-mainstream style, leaned against the wall with a blade of grass in his mouth.
At that moment, the female lead made her entrance.
The actress playing the female lead was none other than Eastern Maiden, who had become immensely popular in Sweet Potato Films.
Eastern Maiden walked up to the carefree Soul Sphere and quietly glanced at him.
Then, with a hint of melancholy, Eastern Maiden said, "You bastard, you’ve ruined my life!"
"What happened?" Soul Sphere immediately dropped his previous nonchalance upon hearing Eastern Maiden's harsh words.
The scene shifted slightly, revealing the sunset outside.
A gentle breeze stirred Eastern Maiden's loose hair, which glimmered beautifully in the golden sunlight.
"I'm pregnant."
When those words escaped Eastern Maiden's lips, Soul Sphere looked as if he had lost his soul.
"What? Don't scare me like that!" Soul Sphere grabbed Eastern Maiden's shoulders and shook her as he asked.
At that moment, his face was filled with shock.
In this era, an unmarried girl getting pregnant was no trivial matter. The gossip from neighbors could ruin a girl's life forever.
Soul Sphere reacted so strongly to Eastern Maiden's revelation precisely because he understood the gravity of the situation.
"I... I'm pregnant!" Eastern Maiden's expression was neutral, revealing nothing of her inner thoughts.
Soul Sphere was stunned, releasing his grip on her shoulders. After a long pause, he asked blankly, "Whose is it?"
After asking, Soul Sphere seemed to realize how foolish his question was and hurriedly apologized repeatedly.
"Bastard, I don’t love you anymore."
With that sentence, Eastern Maiden left the school gate humming a tune, as if a heavy stone had been lifted from her shoulders.
Soul Sphere stood frozen in place, like a wooden puppet.

However, Soul Sphere's question went unanswered by Eastern Maiden.
Seeing this, Li Hong furrowed his brows tightly, completely at a loss about what Lu Mao was trying to convey.
At this point, it felt like just an ordinary coming-of-age film. The clichés were all the same, no different from the countless mediocre youth films out there. Where was Lu Mao's dark twist?
When Li Hong cast a puzzled glance at Lu Mao, he simply shook his head and said, "Boss, you'll understand if you keep watching."
Li Hong had no choice but to settle down and continue watching.
The scene shifted again, this time to a room filled with dolls.
Looking at the pink decorations and the large variety of dresses in the wardrobe, Li Hong realized this was the heroine's bedroom.
Sure enough, the door opened, and the heroine Eastern Maiden stepped in with a light-hearted stride into the cramped room.
After placing her backpack on the bed, Eastern Maiden walked to the window and gazed at the yellow leaves falling outside, appearing quite pleased.
However, at that moment, Eastern Maiden suddenly took an axe down from the wall beside the window.
Li Hong scratched his head in confusion; what was she planning to do with that?
He watched as Eastern Maiden repeatedly wiped the axe and then flashed a mischievous smile. She lifted the axe, which was taller than herself, and brought it down toward her round belly.
Blood splattered, the screen was a sea of crimson.
At the moment the axe fell to the ground, the Eastern Maiden wore a relieved smile and plunged her hands into her own abdomen.
After a violent tearing, a blood-soaked figure was pulled from her body.
Li Hong was dumbfounded; what happened to the good coming-of-age film? How did it suddenly turn into a horror movie?
Before he could think further, the Eastern Maiden in the scene clenched her fist-sized object and bit down with her silver teeth.
Then, right before Li Hong's astonished eyes, the Eastern Maiden began to devour the person as if she were gnawing on a chicken leg.
"Are you insane? You turned a perfectly good coming-of-age film into this!" Li Hong exclaimed angrily as he quickly pressed the stop button and cursed at Lu Mao.
