Of course, this was merely a concept from Li Hong. The future virtual world might develop to such an extent, but in most cases, their virtual world would likely not achieve such perfection.
Although the blueprints provided by Supreme God already outlined the method for creating the Virtual Helmet, filling in the content would be the greatest challenge that Li Hong and his team faced.
It was akin to drawing on a piece of paper; Supreme God's blueprints were like giving them a paintbrush and a blank sheet. What Li Hong and his team needed to do was to create what they envisioned on that blank canvas.
This would be a long and tedious process. Constructing the virtual world would be no simpler than developing a computer system. Frankly, the difficulty would exceed everyone's imagination.
Thus, Li Hong did not expect these designers to perfect the entire structure of the virtual world all at once; instead, he required them to fill in the virtual world step by step.
Their breakthrough point would still focus on the game aspect. If they began to delve into other areas now, it would be impossible for them to achieve with their current development capabilities.
If they were to forcefully develop an entire virtual world, it would likely require the efforts of designers from Microsoft and engineers from Google working together. Relying solely on this group of game-designing otaku would not suffice.
“Boss, we already know what you want. So what should we do now?” Tiamat asked curiously.
“First, let’s transfer our previously set game project onto this virtual world platform. We can tackle other aspects gradually later,” Li Hong pondered.
“PUBG?” Mark exclaimed in surprise.
In their internal sequence, PUBG was the next project slated for development. From Li Hong's words, did that mean they were going to transport PUBG into the entire virtual world?
“That shouldn’t be a problem; after all, PUBG's map is just set on a desolate island. For us, this transfer process is quite simple. However, will having just one PUBG game project make the entire virtual world feel dull?” Tiamat pressed further.
Since the virtual world bore the name of a world, from another perspective, it would serve as humanity's second realm of existence.
Would filling the project solely with PUBG make the entire virtual world seem flavorless?
Li Hong certainly understood what his team was worried about; he also recognized that launching projects in the virtual world felt urgent. Yet, given such an opportunity to change the world, why not seize it?
The emergence of a virtual world would signify a reshuffling of industries. If they failed to grasp this opportunity, they would fall behind in the impending era. This was unacceptable for Li Hong.
"Don't worry, as long as we still have control over the manufacturing of the hardware, even if it's a bit dull, the customers won't have any complaints. After all, this is a groundbreaking piece of technology, not just a traditional smart device," Li Hong said with a smile.
It's akin to the launch of the first-generation iPhone, which had very few apps available but was still wildly popular among the public. Their current Virtual Helmet, although it only carries one game, is bound to receive similar treatment due to its revolutionary nature.
Li Hong was confident about this.
"PUBG, since we're moving it to the Virtual Helmet, all gameplay and balance aspects will need to be redesigned. What are your thoughts on this?"
Mark scratched his head and replied, "Boss, PUBG is already a project with excellent stability and balance. Even if we move it to a non-P Platform, there shouldn't be any issues, right?"
"I think we can simplify some of the settings inside. For instance, in terms of design, we could add gyroscopes and assistance aiming methods to enhance the gaming experience," Tiamat suggested.
Li Hong nodded in agreement with Tiamat's proposal.
"The map must be large. For the P Platform, PUBG's map already feels a bit cramped. If we're transporting it into the virtual world, the size of the map will be crucial for success. My requirement is always one thing: it has to be big! Big enough to accommodate so many players!"
"Should we adjust the total number of players per match? I feel that having a hundred players in the Virtual Platform might seem too few," Mark inquired.
The game mode of PUBG is based on the original Shroud World concept. Essentially, one hundred players board an aircraft and are dropped onto a desolate island to compete against each other until one victor remains.
On the P Platform, gathering one hundred players might be relatively easy; however, increasing that number could affect gameplay. But since we're moving this game into the virtual world, we can't limit the player count to just one hundred.
The more players there are, the more fun it becomes—that's the truth of gaming.
"That's up to you; do whatever you want. My requirements have been stated. Just make sure you deliver what I want before Penguin acquires Riot," Li Hong said with a nod.
After laying out his demands, Li Hong concluded this unproductive meeting.
The purpose of calling this meeting was simply to inform all the designers about their upcoming tasks. Now that he had shared information about the Virtual Helmet with them, Li Hong felt he no longer needed to concern himself with further details.
Stepping out of the conference room, Li Hong turned to Mark beside him and asked, "How's it going with Penguin Group? Have their representatives arrived yet?"
"No, not yet. Based on their schedule, they should arrive in about two days to conduct asset audits and project evaluations."
"Alright then, make sure to treat them well when they get here. You know what to do, right?"
"I understand, boss! I promise this acquisition project will go smoothly," Mark assured, patting his chest.
Li Hong couldn't afford to take this acquisition lightly; after all, it was a significant project worth one billion dollars. Even among those internet giants, any project involving a billion dollars would attract attention.
Now, he was counting on this money to recruit talent and build his team. To perfect the entire project, this funding was indeed essential.
Fortunately, Ma Ge had already agreed to the acquisition offer. Once the auditors from Penguin Group finished evaluating the assets, both parties could sign the transfer contract.
