Wen Fei shook his head, "No, we've searched that hill and found nothing unusual."
I thought for a moment and said, "But right now, it's the only possibility I can think of. The old woman won't let me and Zhang Yuru go up the mountain, which must mean there's something up there that she doesn't want us to discover."
Wen Fei didn't respond immediately. After a while, he said, "Song Fei, Zhang Yuru, I need your help."

Wen Fei chuckled at Zhang Yuru's words. "I think those people will come after you again, so I want us to cooperate. You two will go up the mountain while my elite special forces will protect you nearby. If they..."
"I understand!" I immediately replied. "We’ll be the bait. Mr. Wen, I get it. As an Auxiliary Police officer, I have the duty and responsibility to do this job."
Wen Fei glanced at me and nodded, "Alright then. If this works out, I will be very grateful to you both."
Zhang Yuru and I both smiled.
We discussed the details of the plan with Wen Fei, who then handed each of us an earpiece.
Wen Fei stood up and said, "Okay, sorry to disturb your rest tonight. You two should get some sleep; I need to take care of some matters with my comrades." With that, Wen Fei left with his team.
I sighed in relief and yawned. "That guy is pretty decent."
Zhang Yuru plopped down on the bed and said, "Of course! He’s very strict and enforces the law rigorously. He’s a role model for all of us at school—recognized as fair and selfless."
As she spoke, she quickly fell asleep.
This silly woman really has a good quality of sleep.
I turned off the light and got into bed. I patted Heizi's head and closed my eyes; before long, I also fell asleep.
The next morning, after Zhang Yuru and I finished washing up and had breakfast, we went to meet Wen Fei.
Wen Fei pointed out some important things to keep in mind before returning my Glock and handing me a Black Dagger. "This gun is good, so don't lose it. Keep this dagger for self-defense."
I took the gun and tucked it into my pocket, then secured the dagger as well.
Wen Fei pulled out a Submachine Gun and handed it to Zhang Yuru. "You can use this gun for now. If there's any danger, shoot first."
Zhang Yuru was quite familiar with firearms; she expertly checked it over before hiding it in the cloth bag behind her.
"Alright, go ahead and stay in touch," Wen Fei said.
Zhang Yuru and I put on our wireless earpieces and climbed into my dilapidated car. Of course, the car only looked worn on the outside; Wen Fei had already had it checked that morning. It was in perfect working condition. As for the windshield, we couldn't replace it right away, so we would just have to make do with it for now.
It seemed that this car had definitely been assembled to bulletproof standards.
As I drove back towards Canglan Lagu Town with Zhang Yuru, she smiled and asked, "Are we here to find a cat or to join a fight?"
I felt a bit frustrated myself, having been unwittingly drawn into this drug war. While it was thrilling and I was doing something good, I still had a fear of death.
When we arrived at the old woman's Wooden Building, it was indeed destroyed.
I didn't get too close; I parked the car and went to the trunk to call Heizi down. Then I let Heizi sniff the blanket belonging to Flower Girl. No matter what, finding Flower Girl was my goal for this trip, and I had to do my best to locate that Big Spotted Cat.
Heizi sniffed the cushion and then sat down abruptly.
I put everything back in place and patted Heizi on the head. "Let's go, follow me up the mountain."
With Heizi in tow, Zhang Yuru and I headed towards the Mountain. The hill wasn't very high, but the vegetation inside was dense and tall, covering a large area. If I had walked up here before, I might not have felt scared, but now I couldn't shake the feeling that there were eyes watching me from behind!
Once we reached the Mountain, Heizi clearly became much more cautious. It moved slowly, stopping to sniff around before sitting down again.
"What's wrong? Can't you smell Flower Girl?" I squatted down to ask.
Heizi let out a couple of low growls from its throat before biting at my pant leg and pulling me back down the mountain.
I was taken aback, looking at Zhang Yuru. "This is not good. Heizi feels danger and doesn't want us to go up the mountain."
"Huh?" Zhang Yuru squatted down as well. "What should we do? Are we just going to turn back? We can't report back to Teacher Wen like this. How can we return to Donghai City in such a disgraceful manner? Would you feel comfortable about that?"
I thought for a moment and said, "Let's keep going. There might be some scent here that Heizi is very afraid of, but we have guns, and there are Special Forces support outside. It should be fine. I'll comfort Heizi."
I patted Heizi's head, then pulled out my gun to show it, reassuring it that I was a wizard. Besides, Heizi, you used to be a super brave Hellfire Hound; it's embarrassing to be scared by an old lady now—no, it's more like it's embarrassing for a dog.
I rambled on with a bunch of nonsense, not really knowing if Heizi could understand.
However, after I comforted Heizi, it seemed much better. It wagged its tail at me and then started running ahead quickly.
"Keep up with it." I held my Glock and followed behind Heizi.
Zhang Yuru also took her gun in hand. Since we knew there was danger, there was no need to hide anymore. We followed Heizi and ran forward.
Suddenly, the temperature dropped sharply!
I shivered, feeling puzzled. Logically, it should be getting warmer as we approached midday; why did it suddenly drop?
Zhang Yuru also exclaimed from behind me, "It's so cold!"
I looked around and noticed a path emerging from the underbrush, extending into the distance. In the far end, there seemed to be a cave—the direction where Heizi was running led straight to that cave.
The Chill of Darkness was emanating from within that cave.
I was startled and quickly took a couple of steps forward. "Heizi, slow down."
Heizi's pace slowed down, then it howled softly and stopped under a tree.
I walked over slowly.
A foul stench wafted up from beneath the tree.
I bit my lip, instinctively tightening my grip on the Azure Thunder Staff behind me. Damn it, the situation was even more complicated than I had imagined.
I leaned closer and kicked aside a few leaves, revealing the corpse of a Black Cat lying there. The Black Cat had been brutally killed, its neck nearly bitten through, blood drained completely, and much of its chest meat was missing, clearly devoured by some animal.
“Dead cat!” Zhang Yuru tightened her grip on her submachine gun. “What could have killed it?”
“I don’t know,” I shook my head and glanced to the side. In the distance, I spotted several more wild cat corpses!
I slowly walked over, picked up a bamboo stick from the ground, and casually pushed aside the leaves in front of me. More wild cat bodies emerged, each one dead in a gruesome manner, their faces frozen in expressions of terror, clearly having suffered greatly before their demise.
“These are all stray cats collected from various places!” I said. “There must be many dead cats scattered across this mountain. The old lady must have spent a lot of money and effort to have people bring these strays here, just to feed something?”
“It’s not just for feeding; it’s also for playing with them,” Zhang Yuru approached and said. “These cats struggled before they died; some were even climbing trees when they were bitten. That old lady must be keeping some kind of animal and is using these wild cats as prey for her pet to hunt.”
“That seems likely,” I nodded.
At that moment, my heart suddenly tightened. I felt an invisible threat of death looming over me; the Witch Power in my chest burned like fire!
I didn’t have time to think or look around any longer. Acting purely on instinct, I pushed Zhang Yuru down to the ground beside me and shouted, “Heart!”
“Wow…” A strange cry echoed, resembling a child’s wail, followed by a yellow-black shadow that suddenly flew over my head.
Zhang Yuru was startled as well.
After landing, the shadow lunged toward us again.
At that moment, Heizi let out a low growl and jumped at the shadow. The two figures—one black and one spotted—tumbled together in a fierce struggle.
I quickly pulled Zhang Yuru to her feet.
“Wow… ooh… ahh…”
Heizi and the creature were locked in a relentless battle.
I was terrified that Heizi would get hurt, and I shouted, "Heizi, run!"
Heizi understood my words. With a whimper, he turned around and ran towards me.
At that moment, I finally got a clear look at the creature that had almost attacked me. It was a massive... Pear Blossom Cat!
I couldn't describe my feelings at that moment. As Heizi ran back, I also saw the animal clearly. It was a Big Cat, adorned with a pattern of yellow and black spots. Its body was incredibly well-proportioned and powerful, resembling a leopard! In fact, it was as large as a leopard! At least, it was bigger than Heizi!
I stared at the creature, raising my Glock in my hand.
The Big Cat looked at me with its two eyes and then smirked disdainfully.
Yes, it was a smile! A smile like that of a human! When it smiled, its face distinctly resembled a human face.
