I continued walking inside, the second floor filled with various artworks and some ancient items symbolizing the glory of the Fendi Family, along with awards from the emperor. There was a study on the second floor, but I didn’t pay much attention to it and headed straight for the third floor. I had a feeling that the place I was looking for was on the third floor.
There was the Corpse-Subduing Bell and the Azure Thunder Staff, but I wasn’t too scared. I made my way up to the third floor. Damn, the flashlight was too dim; I should have brought a more powerful one. However, even though this flashlight was faint, its light spread out, allowing me to see a wider area.
Upon reaching the third floor, I noticed several bedrooms. I continued walking and pushed open the door to one of them.
There was no one inside the bedroom. I raised my flashlight slightly and saw several Maids hanging from the ceiling by ropes. As my light shone on them, they began to struggle violently.
“What the hell!”
I quickly closed the door and started opening one bedroom after another. Inside were various Maids and Male Ghosts. I quickly scanned through them and suddenly realized that I had gone to the wrong place. This was the third floor; although it had bedrooms, they were likely guest rooms or secondary bedrooms. Alice’s room should be on the fourth floor.
I estimated their strength and thought that if I cleared each room one by one, I could handle these ghosts with the Azure Thunder Staff, Corpse-Subduing Bell, and various Talismans. Now wasn’t the time to worry about money; I might as well use the Talismans.
I charged into the first room and began to absorb Ghostly Energy.
What would be a nightmare for ordinary people was a paradise for me to absorb Ghostly Energy.
After a massacre that lasted over half an hour, I finished clearing out the ghosts on the third floor and climbed up to the fourth floor.
Following the stairs, I reached the fourth floor, which had more space. I knew I had come to the right place because there was only one room on this floor—a bedroom. The area outside was a wooden floor that seemed meant for dancing or exercising, surrounded by large glass windows, making it look like an observation deck.
I didn’t have time to admire the layout; I hurried toward that bedroom. It was decorated with garlands and looked like a newlywed's chamber.
I pushed open the door and walked in.
A wave of Bloodstained Scent wafted through the air, mingled with a foul stench.
I paused for a moment, shaking the flashlight a few times before it finally steadied.
The New House was quite large, and blood was splattered everywhere. In the middle of the room, on a sofa, lay a person whose clothes had been completely stripped away. Her hair was disheveled, obscuring her face; all I could discern was her body—yes, very beautiful—but I truly couldn't tell who she was just from that bare form.
I continued to move forward.
Suddenly, the body on the sofa sat up!
I halted in my tracks.
The figure shook her hair, revealing a delicate face—it was Mona.
Mona stood up and flashed me a charming smile. "Brave Knight, you finally came. I've bathed and undressed, waiting for you for so long."
"Stop right there!" I brandished the Azure Thunder Staff. "You're Alice, aren't you? I don't care what you're planning, but please let my friend go. I'm not here to oppose you; I just want to return this ring to you. Of course, if you continue to mess with me and my friend, I'll set this place ablaze and turn it to ashes!"
With that, I pulled out the ring.
Mona froze, her eyes fixated on the ring. After a moment of silence, she slowly reached out and took it from me.
I didn't make any rash moves; Alice's power was formidable. If I tried to drive her out of Mona's body, it would either kill Mona or leave her as an idiot.
Mona held the ring and slowly slipped it onto her ring finger. Then she turned to me with a beautiful smile. "Does it look good?"
I frowned slightly. "What exactly do you want?"
Mona laughed lightly, "Fool, can you see it now? You can have this woman, you can have me. I am yours now. Isn't my body enough to make your heart race? My hero!"
I swallowed hard. Of course, I would be moved, but at that moment, I certainly wasn't. Who would want to make love to a ghost?
I looked at Mona's body and took a deep breath. "Alice, I hope we can talk seriously. Let my friend go, and we will leave peacefully. I will also suggest the police seal this place off completely; you can stay here forever. If you refuse and harm my friend, as you can see, I'm not afraid of you."
Mona fell silent for a moment, then stepped back, and with a soft thud, collapsed onto the sofa.
"Woo woo woo... woo woo woo..."
A wailing sound echoed in the air.
I looked up to see Alice floating in the air in her tattered wedding dress, crying continuously. Blood-red tears streamed from her eyes.
I didn't care why Alice was crying; I rushed forward and touched Mona's face.
It was warm.
I sighed in relief.
Mona opened her eyes and immediately jumped up; it must have been her instinctive reaction.
I quickly said, "Mona, it's me."
Mona turned to me, following the beam of the flashlight, then looked down at herself before slapping my shoulder. "You bastard! What did you do to me..."
The slap seemed casual but stung enough to make me uncomfortable.
I was knocked to the ground by Mona's sudden strike, and then I rolled backward before getting back on my feet.
Feeling frustrated, I stood up and grabbed the Azure Thunder Staff. "Hey, get this straight, I just saved you, and you took off your own clothes."
"What happened to my clothes?" Mona crossed her arms over her chest, though she didn't seem overly embarrassed.
I waved my hand dismissively. "I don't know."
Mona glared at me. "You jerk! Are you planning to keep the light on me until you're satisfied?"
"Ah?" I quickly moved the flashlight away.
Mona still couldn't find her clothes. She considered wrapping herself in a blanket but hesitated when she saw the bloodstains on it.
I took off my jacket.
Mona hurriedly put it on, then her hand brushed against her lower body as she muttered, "Looks like you didn't take advantage of me. Daoist, if you dare to sneakily do anything to me, you're dead."
Seeing that movement in the darkness made me suddenly feel parched. I quickly said, "Please, just drop it! Didn't you hear that female ghost crying?"
Mona paused, then we both looked up at Alice in the air.
Alice continued to cry, and it was a terrible sound. It reminded me of the saying about how ghostly wails can be so unpleasant.
I called out to Alice, "Alice, we need to leave here. If you don't have anything else to do..."
"How could I not? Seeing you two flirting earlier made me even sadder!" Alice exclaimed before bursting into tears again.
"Mona," she said, "you can't just say anything. What do you mean by flirting?"
Alice sighed as her body slowly floated down onto the sofa. "That was just a test. I thought all men would lose their ability to think in front of beautiful women, but it seems that's not the case."
I found it strange that Alice retained her memories and thinking abilities from her past life.
Alice looked at me and continued, "Just now, I saw you rush in for this woman, finding her in the bedroom. I knew you must have feelings for her, so I made her stand before you, completely undressed. But why did you hold back? Don't men usually enjoy a thrill? Why! Boo hoo hoo..."
After saying this, Alice began to cry again.
I felt sorrowful. "Alice, I don't know what happened to you, but you can try to let it out. I can help guide you to peace and restore tranquility to this estate."
"Do you think I'm the one who turned this estate into a cursed place? I have no such power! That night, Fendi put the Sky's Scar Diamond Ring on me. He wanted me to be the happiest woman, and I believed him. We decorated this estate; I thought it was my paradise. But... but this place is hell! That night, Fendi and I were making love in this room, lying on the Wedding Bed. He was passionately thrusting into me, but he was calling out another woman's name! I woke up suddenly and asked Fendi what was going on! Then a woman dressed in red appeared—she was a Chinese woman! She was wicked; she laughed at me and said my husband had already fallen in love with her!" Alice shouted angrily.
I listened, somewhat confused. "Wait, wait, Alice, why did a Chinese woman appear? And was that Chinese woman a ghost?"
