“Cough, cough!” The man finally stopped laughing. “Brother, I’m not a tour guide. I’m the head of New Horizons Travel Company. Our main clients are large corporations and enterprises. We customize various travel projects and routes for businesses, avoiding the usual paths and crowded attractions. The routes we develop are all in beautiful, remote places where one can truly appreciate nature and reflect on life.”
I was at a loss for words.
“Oh dear.” Liu Yiyi touched her head. “I’m feeling a bit carsick, Mr. Shi. Let’s discuss the travel cooperation later; I’m not feeling well.” Liu Yiyi's expression showed her discomfort.
“Ah? Carsick? I have motion sickness medicine with me.” The man immediately shamelessly reached for his medicine.
Liu Yiyi shook her head. “No need, taking the medicine makes me feel worse, and I can’t eat. Song Fei, can you help me with acupressure?”
“Sure.” I then pulled Mr. Shi up. I had to take action; otherwise, who knew if this thick-skinned guy would get up and give us his seat.
Mr. Shi stood aside, watching me with an unhappy expression.
I ignored him and said to Liu Yiyi, “Yiyi, you really need to treat this motion sickness; otherwise, your trip will be ruined by it. Let me press the Neiguan Acupoint for you. Luckily you brought me along; otherwise, if you took the motion sickness medicine, you’d just be dozing off the whole way.” I reached out and pulled Liu Yiyi’s arm to press on her Neiguan Acupoint.
The Neiguan Acupoint is located above the wrist, and I pressed it a few times.
Mr. Shi watched for a while and muttered, “Is this for real? Brother, you know about acupoints?”
I shot him an annoyed look. “You don’t know? Liu Yiyi and I are alumni; I majored in Traditional Chinese Medicine, so of course I understand Chinese medicine! Alright, Mr. Shi, find a seat nearby; treating motion sickness isn’t easy. I’ll need to press for about twenty minutes.”
Mr. Shi had nothing more to say and found a spot to sit down nearby.
I sat next to Liu Yiyi. This minibus was quite luxurious, with double seats made of soft fabric that were comfortable to sit on. I placed Liu Yiyi’s hand on my leg while pressing her acupoint gently; of course, I didn’t apply much pressure since I knew she was just pretending.
Liu Yiyi turned to look out the window, a hint of a smile on her lips.
I looked at Liu Yiyi, and from the side, she was truly beautiful. Liu Yiyi didn't use much makeup; she only applied some lightly colored skincare products made from plant extracts, which made her skin appear dewy and smooth, like it was made of white jade.
My heart began to race a little, and my hand instinctively reached for Liu Yiyi's. If she didn't reject me... My palm was sweaty as I slowly moved closer.
However, just as my fingers brushed against Liu Yiyi's, she turned her face away.
She looked at me.
I gazed back at Liu Yiyi, and at this close distance, I felt a bit intoxicated.
Liu Yiyi looked at me curiously. "Song Fei, what are you looking at?"
"Ah?" I quickly lowered my head. "Well, the scenery by the roadside is really nice."
"Nice my foot," Liu Yiyi retorted, pulling her hand back. She chuckled softly. "If you think it's so nice, you might as well just travel here."
I replied, "Actually, anywhere is fine as long as you're there; that's the most beautiful scenery."
Liu Yiyi pouted. "Oh, look at you not reading medical books but love letters instead."
We both laughed; this was the most beautiful journey! I took out some snacks. "Let's eat and chat."
Liu Yiyi nodded and glanced around before whispering, "That Stone Chengzhen is so annoying. I'm glad you held on; otherwise, he would have ruined my mood for this trip. Honestly, a man with such thick skin is no wonder he's successful in his career."
I chuckled softly. "That's right! Luckily, my skin is thick enough too. I believe that having thick skin not only leads to success but also helps one win over beautiful women, don't you think, Liu Zong? I'll keep pushing forward."
Liu Yiyi paused for a moment, lowering her head in silence; she must have understood what I meant.
The journey continued for nearly ten hours as we traveled southwest from Donghai City towards Hunan. To be honest, sitting in the car was quite tiring; it was much better to fly. However, being able to sit next to Liu Yiyi made those ten hours feel wonderful. We had become quite familiar with each other before, but after being together continuously for ten hours and leaning close together during that time, I suddenly realized that Liu Yiyi was no longer just my goddess; she was the woman I wanted to pursue.
The car was nothing to look at on the highway, but as the Minibus turned towards Hunan, the scenery outside transformed into something beautiful.
Stone Cheng, who ran New Horizons Travel Company, had some innovative ideas. He wasn't just collecting tour fees and sending tourists off to shop, which was the most basic way to make money. Honestly, I would rather spend a little more money and time traveling on my own than join such a group tour.
Stone Cheng's tours were customized and deeply tailored. For this trip, Liu Yiyi wanted everyone to relax completely and enhance the camaraderie among employees. Stone Cheng designed an outdoor adventure trip, scouting undeveloped scenic areas first with his guides, then creating several activities. Most importantly, there had to be stunning views for everyone to enjoy.
If the clients were from cultural circles, Stone Cheng would arrange in-depth tours of historical sites, hiring professionals as guides to explain history and culture. Although these tours charged higher fees, they were indeed much better than simple sightseeing.
At first, the Minibus was still driving on the highway. Later, it transitioned onto county roads, and after that, we reached a winding mountain road. A thin mist floated through the mountains; it was already afternoon, and the sunset's glow streamed through the windows onto Liu Yiyi's face, leaving me mesmerized.
Eventually, the Minibus began to bump along; even the most ordinary roads disappeared. The terrain became uneven as we climbed higher, but the surrounding scenery was intoxicating.
A young man stood up in front of us with a microphone and said, "Leaders and friends from Sihai Group, we will arrive at our destination in about half an hour. During our three-day trip, we will focus on environmental protection and not littering. I know you are all well-mannered individuals. What I want is for this trip to take us off the beaten path; it may be a bit challenging. Also, in the wilderness, there are no ranks; we are all friends here to help each other have more fun. Most importantly, we are currently near villages of the Tujia Ethnic Group and Miao people. Each village has its customs, so please avoid entering them and disturbing their lives. If you must go in, please be mindful of your behavior and respect local customs. I will briefly explain some taboos of these ethnic minorities; is that alright?"
I applauded.
The young man explained some local ethnic taboos. In fact, both the Tujia Ethnic Group and Miao people are among the larger ethnic minorities. Their relationship with the Han people is relatively good since the Han regard Yan Huang as their ancestors. However, for the Miao and Tujia people, they consider Chi You as their ancestor. This is probably their biggest divergence; aside from avoiding speaking ill of Chi You, there isn't much else to worry about—just basic things like not touching children's heads or taking photos of elders without permission.
I whispered to Liu Yiyi, "I didn't expect Stone Cheng to choose such a great place; this really is nice. I used to see travel guides for Phoenix Ancient Town; it has become commercialized with bars everywhere. But deep in these mountains? It's genuinely beautiful."
Liu Yiyi nodded and stretched lazily. "I'm so tired! Honestly, if I hadn't promised you I'd come here, I wouldn't have wanted to go through this hassle. I guess I'm getting old; given some free time, I'd rather stay in my room."
I laughed. "You think you're old? Come on, let me give you a back rub and shoulder massage." I reached out to knead Liu Yiyi's shoulder.
Liu Yiyi turned back to glance at me. "You’re not trying to take advantage of me while doing this, are you?"
I chuckled. "With your guard up like that, I can't touch anything!"
I continued massaging Liu Yiyi's shoulder. Before long, the vehicle arrived at the foot of a mountain and came to a stop—this was our destination.
The New Horizons Travel Company sent two people: a young tour guide and Stone Cheng. It seemed that Stone Cheng usually wouldn’t personally lead a group, but this time he came specifically for Liu Yiyi.
To protect Liu Yiyi from being disturbed, I had to stick closely behind her. Yes, that was the plan!
After getting off the bus and gathering the necessary items, the tour guide led us toward the mountain. Sure enough, Stone Cheng had been following Liu Yiyi since we got off, explaining the scenery and local customs. Damn it, not only did this guy have thick skin, but he was also quite eloquent. After more than half an hour of walking, around five o'clock, we reached a hillside. Suddenly, a lake appeared amidst the mountains. To be honest, I was stunned because the water was breathtakingly beautiful! Surrounded by mountains, the lake's color was so clear that you could see straight to the bottom! There weren’t many fish in the water, but a few were quite large!
Around us flowed streams from the mountain, shrouded in mist, making it look even more like a painting!
We were all amazed.
