I don't know how long I had been rolling; it felt like an eternity. All I could do was clutch my head and keep tumbling down. Eventually, I just passed out.
"Thud..."
A chill suddenly hit my forehead.
I jolted awake and felt something wet on my forehead—it was a drop of water.
Where am I?
Rubbing my head, I glanced around.
There was a faint flickering light from candles nearby. When I turned my head, I saw a pale face staring back at me.
"What the hell!"
I shouted and kicked the person away.
"Thud..."
The figure fell to the ground like a pile of rotten meat.
"Huh? A corpse?"
I was taken aback.
I took a few deep breaths.
The mist here was still present, but it had thinned significantly, and the stench within it had lessened as well.
In the distance, a row of candles flickered. They were indeed candles, with wisps of smoke curling up from their flames.
Suddenly, I thought that perhaps this smoke, tinged with the odor of decay, was produced by these candles that had burned for years without extinguishing.
However, if this truly was an ancient tomb from the Shang Zhou period, then these candles must have been burning for at least three thousand years!
I didn't dwell on the possibility of that being true. Instead, I turned to glance at the corpse I had just kicked aside.
"Wait?"
I froze for a moment.
The corpse was dressed in a gray robe, with long braids on its head and a simple sword strapped to its back. Honestly, this person looked like they had walked straight out of a historical drama.
"What the hell! An ancient person!" I took a step back. I couldn't tell which dynasty this fellow belonged to, but whether it was the Ming Dynasty or the Qing Dynasty, it had to be at least several hundred years old. How could this corpse still look so fresh? It resembled a living dead person!
"Damn it!"
I circled around him and quickly realized that there were definitely more bodies here than just this one. There were many others, most of whom wore ancient-style robes, but there were also some from the Republican Era and even modern individuals. There were even a few Japanese ghosts.
I swallowed hard and tried not to think too much about it. I had initially disregarded life and death since I felt certain I was doomed. But now that I had escaped from A Cai's grasp, I found myself ignited with a renewed desire to survive.
Once the thought of survival crossed my mind, fear gripped me even more tightly.
I circled around the corpses and hurried forward.
Ahead lay rows of candles.
As I walked past, the flames flickered a few times, but none extinguished. The wisps of smoke rose up, drifting high into the air.
My mouth felt parched. I rummaged through my backpack, only to realize that I had forgotten to bring water. With no other option, I pulled out my Swiss Army knife, ready for any emergency.
This path seemed endless. As I walked, an oddly familiar feeling washed over me, as if I had traversed this way before. I quickened my pace, suddenly intrigued by what lay at the end of the road!
My hands trembled slightly. Could it be that the end of this path was where I was born? Was my mother waiting there?
With that thought in mind, I sped up even more.
“Roar…”
A loud growl echoed through the air.
I jumped in surprise.
At that moment, I spotted a creature larger than a lion—a massive black beast that resembled a dog but was far too grotesque to be one—charging ahead.
In front of it was a woman dressed in black. She was running swiftly but appeared somewhat disheveled; her clothes were tattered, and her gas mask was cracked in two.
"Whoosh..."
The ugly large dog behind suddenly exhaled a cloud of black mist.
The woman in front swayed, and then her gas mask completely fell off her face.
I was so frightened that I was about to hide, but suddenly, I froze. I recognized that woman!
It was Black Wuchang!
The woman who killed the Yinshan Seven Ghosts!
What was she doing here?
My mind raced for a moment, and then I disregarded the danger. I grabbed my Swiss Army knife and charged toward the black dog.
Honestly, I wasn't trying to be a hero; even if I wanted to, I didn't have the ability.
But this woman had saved me once, and I felt that if she died now, I would likely be next. In this place, facing such a monstrous black dog, there was no way I could escape.
"Get away!"
I shouted at the black dog.
At that moment, the black dog had already pounced on Black Wuchang.
Black Wuchang lay there, and I couldn't tell if she was dead or just unconscious.
"Get away!"
I shouted at the black dog again. Back in Shantai Village, wild dogs often roamed around, and I used to scare them off like this. I wasn't sure if it would work now.
The black dog looked at me and whimpered softly.
Gathering my courage, I continued to intimidate the black dog. However, the closer I got, the more my mind went blank. That dog’s fur wasn’t black at all; it was wrapped in a layer of something that resembled black flames.
Those black flames flickered and danced around it, making it appear black.
This was definitely not a dog; it was a monster!
"Ugh..."
The black dog stared at me, its previously fierce gaze suddenly brightening. It slowly backed away, then whimpered at me once more.
I was taken aback, watching the black dog.
Then it turned and ran away.
I was surprised but didn’t have time to think about it. I hurried over to check on Black Wuchang lying on the ground.
With her eyes closed under the candlelight, she looked as beautiful as a fairy.
It was truly beautiful, making me feel even thirstier.
Liu Yiyi was already quite pretty, the kind of beauty that could attract any boy just by walking through the campus. But this Black Wuchang, even with her eyes closed, was three times more beautiful than Liu Yiyi!
I stood there for three seconds before remembering that I needed to save her quickly.
I slapped Black Wuchang's face, but there was no response. Her breathing was very weak, almost nonexistent. She had several wounds on her body, but they didn't seem too serious; it was likely due to the gas.
I hurried over and picked up the Gas Mask.
The mask was cracked in two, but it was still usable, just not very secure.
I placed the mask over Black Wuchang's mouth, but then realized that wouldn’t work; she was barely breathing. It seemed like her heartbeat had stopped as well.
I had no choice but to perform Artificial Respiration.
I immediately got to work, first checking the woman's chest. If she was wearing a steel-bra, I would need to remove it first.
As I felt around, I noticed her leather outfit was a bit stiff; I couldn't tell what material it was made from.
I quickly unfastened her leather outfit and reached inside. It felt soft and quite ample, without any lining.
I felt relieved and then pressed down a few times before bending down to blow air into her mouth.
After taking a breath, I quickly put the Gas Mask back on and continued pressing on her chest.
After several attempts, Black Wuchang showed no response, and I shamefully found myself becoming aroused.
Damn it, this was in the Millennium Tomb! Surrounded by corpses! I couldn't believe I was getting turned on; I was almost impressed by my own shamelessness.
However, I didn't stop. I estimated that I could still save her since her heart had just stopped beating.
I continued to lean down, preparing to blow air into Black Wuchang's mouth.
Suddenly, I felt a sharp pain in my lips.
"Ah!"
I gasped and tried to lift my head, but I felt the woman beneath me biting my lip with her teeth, and she bit down hard as if trying to draw my blood.
I was terrified and let out another cry.
At that moment, the woman released her grip.
I quickly raised my head and looked at the woman beneath me.
She also lifted her head to meet my gaze.
Her eyes were beautiful—so beautiful that they made me dizzy.
In an instant, I forgot the pain from being bitten. I felt shy, as if my face had turned red. "Um... I'm Song Fei... Thank you for saving me last time."
"Get your hand... off me!" The woman seemed furious, her eyes fixed on me. Although her voice was slow, it was filled with an unmistakable threat.
"Ah?" I was taken aback, and as I moved my hand, I realized that my right hand was resting on her chest beneath her leather jacket.
It was not only soft and ample but also pulsated with a strong heartbeat.
I quickly withdrew my hand, feeling embarrassed. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to..."
The woman placed a gas mask over her mouth. She glanced at me once before sitting up. "Aren't you afraid of corpse poison?"
"I... I don't seem to be," I replied.
She nodded. "Thank you for your blood." With that, she stood up, pulled her clothes back into place, and in an instant, she vanished without a trace.
