I picked up the photo, where Liu Yiyi was wearing various cheongsams while posing for artistic shots. The high slits of those cheongsams, combined with the intentionally enhanced beauty in the photos, captivated me at first glance.
"These photos are really beautiful," I said sincerely.
Liu Yiyi paused for a moment, then playfully hit me. "Song Fei, don't joke around at a time like this. I didn't ask you to look at my photos. Look closely; do you see what's behind me? That shadow."
I examined the photo more closely and was suddenly taken aback. Behind Liu Yiyi in the picture was a very blurry shadow. Although it was indistinct, upon closer inspection, I could make out a face—no, to be precise, a ghostly face!
Moreover, in more than ten photos, there was a ghostly face lurking behind each one. Sometimes it faced the camera directly, other times it was turned to the side. The specific features of the ghost were hard to discern, but it was clear that it was a female ghost with long hair flowing down, always close to Liu Yiyi's head.
Looking at the photos made me feel a bit eerie. "Where were these photos taken?" I asked.
"At my house," Liu Yiyi replied. "It's a place I've recently rented because my grandfather wants me to take over some business matters, and staying in the dormitory is quite inconvenient. So I moved closer to school."
"It’s best if we go check out your place first. Honestly, I've never experienced anything like this before; we can only try," I said.
Liu Yiyi nodded. "Alright then, Song Fei, let's go now."
"Okay, I'll head back to the dorm to grab some things first," I replied.
On my way back to the dormitory, I felt quite happy—not just because Liu Yiyi was beautiful and I would get to explore her room, but more importantly, I had found a clue. As long as Liu Yiyi could find that book, I believed my true identity would come to light!
Once I reached the dormitory, I packed up the peach wood stick and then slapped Yang Gou Dan on his bald head. "Let’s go catch some ghosts."
Yang Gou Dan was busy playing a game; he had become quite adept at it and had already leveled up to thirty, starting to participate in ranked matches.
"I'm not going, I have things to do. There's no need for so many ghost hunts. Besides, looking at you, you can definitely handle it. Just go by yourself and call me when you can't anymore," Yang Gou Dan said impatiently.

I felt helpless. Damn it, if I had known, I wouldn't have brought Yang Gou Dan to the dormitory. This kid has been completely led astray by that bastard Chi Xiang. Eat shit!
With my bag on my back, I could only head down to the dormitory alone. There was a car parked downstairs. As I came down, the horn honked once, and then I saw Liu Yiyi waving at me from inside the car. It was a Jaguar, a brand I might never be able to afford.
I got into the car, and Liu Yiyi drove out of the school. At that moment, sitting in the car, I felt the gap between Liu Yiyi and me was so vast.
"By the way, who took those photos?" I asked. "Did you hire a photographer?"
"Well..." Liu Yiyi hesitated for a moment before saying, "It was taken by my boyfriend."
Hearing the word "boyfriend," I felt a twinge of jealousy in my heart, but I quickly smiled and said, "So our goddess of Donghai University is already taken! Liu Yiyi just smiled and said, "Actually, it was arranged by my family. His father is the CEO of a company, and his uncle works at the Industrial and Commercial Bureau here in Donghai City. You know how it is for kids from families like ours; there aren't many choices when it comes to marriage."
I nodded, not wanting to discuss this further.
Liu Yiyi clearly didn't notice my mood; she probably saw me as her good friend. She continued, "But actually Wei Qiang is quite nice. Although he's a rich second-generation kid, he has good living habits and doesn't have the typical spoiled rich kid attitude. Plus, he's a PhD student at Harvard University and has excellent photography skills. Overall, I'm quite satisfied."
"As long as you're satisfied," I chuckled lightly and turned to look out the window, really not wanting to talk about this anymore.
I suddenly remembered the photos taken by Liu Yiyi, in which she wore a Cheongsam, glancing back with a light smile. That kind of alluring pose could only be revealed in front of her boyfriend.
Before long, the Jaguar came to a stop. Liu Yiyi said, "Let's go, Song Fei. My home is on the second floor, but I’m feeling a bit hesitant to go in right now."
I looked around and realized we were at the Saint Garden District, an upscale area of Donghai City. Not only was the location prime, but the amenities within the district were also luxurious and abundant.
Upon reaching the second floor, Liu Yiyi opened the door. I pushed it open and stepped inside, my eyes scanning every corner of the room. At this moment, I actually hoped to find a ghost quickly so that I could exorcise it. I really didn’t want to run into Liu Yiyi's tall and handsome boyfriend. I already felt slightly inferior in front of Liu Yiyi; encountering her wealthy and attractive boyfriend would make me feel like a complete bumpkin.
Liu Yiyi's room was very clean. Although it was a temporary rental, everything in the room was well-arranged and exquisite. Children from wealthy families are indeed capricious; I estimated that the rent for this place must be at least six thousand a month.
I took a deep breath and walked around the room. However, there were no abnormalities anywhere, including the bathroom, which seemed perfectly normal.
"Let’s check your bedroom," I suggested.
Liu Yiyi let out an "ah," looking a bit embarrassed. "Can I go in and tidy up first?"
"You're not scared anymore?" I chuckled.
"Well... okay then, but you mustn't look around too much." Liu Yiyi blushed as she pushed open the door to her room. At a glance, I saw clothes scattered across the bed—several bras and two pairs of blue cartoon underwear.
I didn't feel particularly excited; I merely glanced over before continuing to inspect the bedroom. Everything seemed normal there as well—no signs of any ghostly presence.
Shaking my head, I stepped out of Liu Yiyi's bedroom. "Liu Yiyi, I've checked it out; this room seems perfectly normal—at least for now it's safe. But at night it might be different since it seems that the ghosts I've encountered only appear after dark."
Liu Yiyi felt a chill run down her spine. "How about this, Song Fei? Should I change to another place? Ever since I saw those photos, I've been feeling uneasy and can't sleep at night."
I thought for a moment. "How about this: I'll sleep in another room tonight to see if there are any issues. If we can catch that ghost, great! If not, you can consider moving."
Liu Yiyi let out a sigh of relief. It was clear that she wasn't too keen on moving, as she had put a lot of effort into decorating this place.
That evening, Liu Yiyi cooked some noodles, and we shared dinner in the house.
"Song Fei, how did you end up exorcising ghosts? Aren't you a medical student? It's so interesting that you can catch ghosts," Liu Yiyi said with a smile, sitting across from me. With my presence, she seemed to have lost her fear and returned to her cheerful self.
"I was forced to learn it. Just like you, I encountered a ghost at first, and then I realized that those ghosts are just like people; they can be defeated too, so I learned how to do it," I replied with a laugh.
I didn’t mention that I was actually quite useless aside from being able to see ghosts and not being afraid of them biting me. But I certainly wouldn’t say such things to avoid worrying Liu Yiyi.
Liu Yiyi clasped her hands together and bowed slightly towards me. "Wow, Song Fei, please take me as your apprentice! Just think how cool it would be if I could catch ghosts too."
I chuckled. Then I thought about Liu Yiyi's tall, rich, and handsome boyfriend and felt a bit suppressed. Liu Yiyi was a wonderful woman, but there was such a vast difference between us that I didn't even entertain the thought of competing for her affection.
After dinner, Liu Yiyi washed the dishes while we watched TV and chatted about school life. I then asked her about the jade pendant and the antiques. Although we didn’t reach any conclusions, we enjoyed our conversation.
At ten o'clock, Liu Yiyi yawned and got up to prepare for bed.
"Alright, if anything dangerous happens, just call me. I'll be sleeping next door," I said.
Liu Yiyi nodded and headed into her bedroom.
I settled down in the guest room next door. In my dreams, the sound of hooves continued.
Suddenly, for some unknown reason, the shouts and cries in my dream grew louder.
I was jolted awake by the noise in my dream. Glancing at the clock, I saw it was still not even midnight.
I was about to fall asleep again when I heard footsteps outside the room, a soft "tap tap tap."
I sat up, put on my shoes, and quietly walked to my bedroom door to take a look outside.
There was indeed someone in the living room; that person turned on the light and then pushed open the door to Liu Yiyi's room and walked in.
Curious, I opened my bedroom door and stepped out.
Sounds came from Liu Yiyi's room, followed by a man's voice, "Hey, my darling, did you miss me?"
"Ah... Wei Qiang, how... how did you get in? Why are you here now? Hurry up and go back out to the living room," came Liu Yiyi's voice.
I understood now; it seemed that the person who had just entered was Wei Qiang, who was now Liu Yiyi's boyfriend.
