My nerves instantly tightened. No prescription, no invoice, no written record. This wasn't some special supply medication; it was clearly... 0

Suddenly, the sound of a car engine came from downstairs. Liu Ting nervously ran to the window. "There's a black sedan parked downstairs." 0

"Don't turn on the lights." I quickly took photos of all the documents with my phone. "Don't touch these things for now, but don't show them to anyone either." 0

When I went downstairs, the black car was indeed still there. I didn't take the front entrance but circled around through a side path to another street. It wasn't until I hailed a taxi that I finally relaxed. 0

As dawn broke, I returned to the hospital. The morning meeting hadn't started yet, and the nurse's station was eerily quiet. Nurse Zhang, who had been on night duty, was sorting through medical records and visibly froze when she saw me. 0

"What are you doing here so early?" she asked cautiously. 0

"Nurse Zhang, can we find a place to talk?" 0

The hospital rooftop became our conversation spot. In the morning light, Nurse Zhang lit a cigarette, her hand trembling slightly. "Have you seen the report?" 0

"Yes. Why did you give it to me?" 0

She took a deep drag from her cigarette. "Last month, another patient died under circumstances exactly like Liu Ting's mother. They both received that so-called 'Yikang' injection..." 0

"Did you report this to the hospital?" 0

"Report it?" She scoffed. "The director said it was a complication and told me not to meddle in things that don't concern me. The next day, that patient was cremated, and their medical records were specially sealed." 0

"How many people have used this medication?" 0

"I'm not sure. This medication is stored separately, and we ordinary nurses don't have access to it. But..." She hesitated. 0

"But what?" 0

"Yesterday, while I was organizing the duty records, I found that a segment of the surveillance footage from the underground parking lot had been deleted. It was on the night of Liu Ting's mother's death." 0

I was about to press for more information when the door to the rooftop suddenly swung open. Wang Zhiping strolled in, a warm smile on his face. "Nurse Zhang, the rounds are about to begin." 0

Nurse Zhang stubbed out her cigarette and left in a hurry, giving me a meaningful glance as she departed. 0

" Reporter Lin," Wang Zhiping's tone remained gentle, but his gaze was sharp as a knife, "you seem particularly interested in our hospital?" 0

"It's just a professional habit." I feigned nonchalance and shrugged. "I've heard that many hospitals are trying out new therapies lately, and I wanted to do a series of reports." 0

"It’s best to understand things clearly before reporting." He stepped closer, almost whispering in my ear, "Knowing too much can be detrimental for anyone." 0

A threat! A blatant threat! 0

I forced down my rising anger. "What does Director Wang mean by that?" 0

"Nothing much," he stepped back politely, "just reminding Reporter Lin to be responsible with medical reporting. By the way, your mother was hospitalized here years ago, wasn't she?" 0

My heart jolted suddenly. How could he know? 0

Wang Zhiping turned and walked away, his back exuding an indescribable authority. I stood frozen in place until the vibration of my phone startled me. It was a message from Nurse Zhang: 0

" Reporter Lin, I'll wait for you at East Gate after my shift. There are some things I need to tell you." 0

Two hours later, I arrived at East Gate as promised. After waiting for half an hour, Nurse Zhang still hadn’t shown up. When I called her, the phone was turned off. 0

A sense of foreboding washed over me. Just as I was about to leave, a janitor approached and handed me a note: "A nurse asked me to give this to you." 0

The note was hastily scribbled with an address, followed by a line: Be careful of Rainbow Clinic. 0

I searched for the address on my navigation app and found it located in an abandoned industrial park on the outskirts of the city. Strangely, there was no registration information for this clinic available through any public channels. 0

As light rain began to fall from the sky, I looked at the note in my hand, and a bold hypothesis started to take shape: Could this underground clinic be the source of Yikang? 0

At that moment, a news alert popped up: A nurse at Renji Hospital is suspected of having committed suicide by overdose and is currently in critical condition. 0

My pupils dilated sharply: Nurse Zhang! 0
