Soon, Yao Guang realized why the Dragon Lord had insisted on keeping her here.
"Our war with the Court is not over yet. Today is the day we face them in a decisive battle. Are you ready?" Early in the morning, the Dragon Lord entered Yao Guang's room and spoke to her.
"Yes, I'm ready."
"This time, I won't be going. My people will follow your command!" the Dragon Lord said to Yao Guang.
Yao Guang nodded. Although she didn't understand why the Dragon Lord wasn't accompanying her this time, it didn't matter. She had made up her mind; she would no longer be a pawn in the battle against the Court.
In contrast to the relaxed aura of the Dragon Lord, Yao Guang exuded a fierce and determined energy.
As Yao Guang stepped outside, the Dragon Lord watched her from behind, feeling a sense of ease. After this war, everything would come to an end! In truth, even the Dragon Lord himself did not understand why the Jade Emperor had organized this war. Initially, he had intended to seek justice within the Court, but then the Jade Emperor had secretly met with him just yesterday. The Dragon Lord recalled their meeting from last night.
"I never expected that my dragon clan would attract the personal attention of the Jade Emperor! What an honor!" The Dragon Lord gazed at the Jade Emperor, who had suddenly appeared before him.
The Jade Emperor stood tall, looking at his long-lost friend. Although others viewed their relationship as strained, they had once been friends in a time unknown to most. If it weren't for the Jade Emperor's betrayal years ago, perhaps things would have turned out differently.
However, everything had led to this current situation; the betrayal lingered between them like an unerasable truth.
Thus, two of the most powerful rulers found themselves in silence within that room.
After a long pause, the Jade Emperor finally spoke. "I have come today to demand what was promised back then from you, Dragon Lord."
At the mention of that promise, anger surged within the Dragon Lord. How audacious of this Emperor to bring it up! If it hadn't been for this man's cunning schemes back then, there would have been no such ridiculous agreement.
"Fine. What do you want me to do?" Suppressing his dissatisfaction, the Dragon Lord addressed the Jade Emperor. Though he regarded the Jade Emperor as despicable and shameless, he could not stoop to that level himself. Despite being tricked into making that promise, he would still honor it.
Listening to the words of the Dragon Lord, the Jade Emperor smiled with satisfaction. He knew that his friend would adhere to this agreement no matter what he did.
"I want you to withdraw from this war!" The Jade Emperor stated succinctly.
The Dragon Lord's eyes widened in surprise as he looked at the Emperor. "I refuse!"
For the Dragon Lord, this war was optional. If he truly wished to oppose, he could single-handedly flatten Lingxiao Palace without inciting a conflict.
His involvement stemmed from the lingering resentment that had plagued him for years.
The Jade Emperor continued to look at the Dragon Lord with a half-smile, aware that the Dragon Lord had much pent-up frustration. Indeed, he felt guilty for what had transpired in the past.
Had it not been for him, the two capable subordinates by the Dragon Lord's side would not have perished. This loss left the Dragon Lord without strong allies during their struggle for power, rendering the dragon clan one of the weakest factions, subject to the Emperor's whims.
If the Dragon Lord did not vent this anger, he would never agree to the Emperor's request.
"Fine, I agree to withdraw! But you must tell me why you are acting this way." After a moment of tension, the Dragon Lord finally compromised, looking resigned as he accepted the Emperor's demand.
Upon hearing the Dragon Lord's question, the Emperor fell silent for a long time.
Seeing the silent Jade Emperor before him, the Dragon Lord suddenly felt as if he had never truly known this man.
In his silence, there was a hint of hidden thoughts. But soon, the Dragon Lord shook his head, dismissing this feeling. This was a decisive Emperor; compassion was never part of his nature. How could he entertain such absurd notions?
Yet as he gazed at the Emperor again, the Dragon Lord sensed a familiar aura emanating from him—a shared feeling.
It was an overwhelming sense of solitude, a profound loneliness that came from living in this world for too long. This feeling was so cold that even being near him felt frigid. Despite practicing fire-based magic, no amount of heat could warm the ice within his heart.
They had lived for too long and witnessed too much in this world. This sensation was far from pleasant. Many people came and went around them; no one stayed by their side for long.
They had always lived in solitude, maintaining their principles and ideals but failing to reclaim their own happiness.
The unseen end is a profound despair. It is through loss that one learns to cherish. Just as they have never experienced loss, they fail to understand the beauty surrounding them.
This is why, even though the Emperor had once betrayed him so deeply, in the Dragon Lord's heart, the Emperor was still considered one of the few friends he had in this world. No matter how fiercely they competed, they were the ones who understood each other best.
After a long contemplation, the Emperor slowly spoke to the Dragon Lord, "Now, no destruction, no establishment!"
So that's how it is! It turns out to be like this!
Upon hearing the Emperor's words, the Dragon Lord suddenly realized. No wonder such a significant commotion was made; it was ultimately for the sake of the common people.

But he could not understand why a mere mortal would harbor such great ambitions. Now, upon hearing the Emperor's words, he finally understood. It was all for life itself, for the sake of these common people.
The shock within the Dragon Lord's heart unveiled a mystery that had troubled him for so many years.
Moreover, the truth revealed was not what he had imagined.
When facing this Emperor again, he no longer felt that disdain he once held. They had previously thought everyone here remained true to their original intentions and thus looked down upon the Emperor even more for his underhanded actions. Yet now he discovered that it was actually the Emperor—whom they had always scorned—who had maintained his original intentions all along.
All these years, he had silently done so much behind the scenes, even at the cost of bearing the stigma of betraying his friends while enduring their self-righteous speculations. Yet he still held firm to himself.
"Alright, rest assured, I will agree to this withdrawal!" the Dragon Lord said to the Jade Emperor. Now he understood the Jade Emperor's intentions and naturally would not act as he had in the past.
"Then I will leave it to you!" the Jade Emperor replied to the Dragon Lord.
He then turned and walked away. The Dragon Lord watched the Jade Emperor's retreating figure, feeling a deep sense of sorrow. It was as if he were seeing his former subordinate, Candle Dragon, in that same desolate state. They were both individuals with great aspirations, and perhaps it was better for him to remain an ordinary person. After all, being a sage was no easy task. The Dragon Lord preferred this carefree life. If he were to bear such shackles, he felt that he might not enjoy his current freedom.
However, after the Jade Emperor left, the Dragon Lord thought of Star Lord Yao Guang within his dragon clan. It seemed that the Jade Emperor intended to abandon Star Lord Yao Guang, which was unfortunate for the Big Dipper Seventh Star.
He had initially thought that the Big Dipper Seventh Star had already fallen, and out of guilt, he had brought the lonely Star Lord Yao Guang into his dragon clan, believing he could save her life.
But now it seemed that the person he had saved could not be protected after all. The Jade Emperor's earlier words indicated that he had agreed to withdraw from the war between the divine dragons.
This clearly meant that the dragon clan was destined to lose.
The Dragon Lord had already anticipated this outcome for his clan. Although it pained him somewhat, what he had just witnessed indicated that not only did they need to clean up within their court, but also among his Aquatic Race. They had been living too comfortably, leading them to develop rebellious thoughts in his absence.
