Yama's Wedding
Yao Guang couldn't believe that the Dragon Lord would be so kind as to save her.
Sure enough, the Dragon Lord narrowed his dragon eyes and looked at Yao Guang for a while before saying, "I saved you merely out of convenience. As for your future plans, that depends on the choices you make."
Choices? Yao Guang pondered the Dragon Lord's words. Did she really have any other options? She wanted to see her Brothers and Xue, but she had no choice left! She had become a criminal in the court, unable to return or wander freely among humans.
Indeed, aside from staying with the dragon clan, there was nowhere else for her to go.
"Is there a price I must pay to stay with you?" Yao Guang asked. Though she was naive, she never thought good fortune would simply fall into her lap. Anyone seeking benefits must pay a price! No one in this world would take responsibility for what you did, nor would anyone be kind to you for no reason.
Moreover, looking at the Dragon Lord, she truly couldn't understand what he might want from her.
Although the Dragon Lord didn't particularly like Star Lord Yao Guang, he realized that she wasn't as foolish as he had imagined. Seeing the scrutinizing gaze from Yao Guang, he thought to himself that thankfully he wasn't dealing with someone completely brainless, so he could speak plainly.
The Dragon Lord was always straightforward. He said to Yao Guang, "Now that you can't return to the court and they consider you a criminal, why not join our dragon clan? I believe your Brothers are quite capable; you shouldn't be too weak either."
Join the dragon clan? Yao Guang considered the Dragon Lord's words. For now, she still counted as part of the court, albeit a criminal.
"You really speak your mind. If I remember correctly, not long ago we were enemies!" Yao Guang crossed her arms and replied to the Dragon Lord.
"Hahaha, your words are quite amusing! But I recall there's a saying in the human realm: there are no eternal enemies or eternal friends! Now that there's no place for you here, aside from the dragon clan, I doubt you'll seek refuge with the demon clan. So why not join us?" The Dragon Lord finished his statement while patiently observing Yao Guang. He could see her hesitation but knew she wouldn't refuse his offer because what he said echoed her own thoughts.
In fact, Yao Guang felt similarly; even if the Dragon Lord didn't want her, she realized she had nowhere else to go.
At that moment, another thought crossed Yao Guang's mind.
That day when she believed her Brothers and Xue were dead—the expressions on those Soldiers' faces had been unbearable. Even if that incident hadn't happened, she wouldn't want to return to the court. Now it seemed fitting; after all, they had already treated her as an enemy and sought to kill her. If she joined the dragon clan, she would be one of them. The war between dragons hadn't ended yet; perhaps she could fight alongside this powerful Dragon Lord and eventually see her Brothers and Xue again.
This might be the only option available to her now. With that thought in mind, Yao Guang nodded at the Dragon Lord and said firmly, "Alright, I agree!"
Hearing this, the Dragon Lord nodded with a smile. He knew that Yao Guang would not refuse his request.
"Since that's the case, from today onwards, you will officially become a member of my dragon clan. You should also know that I allow you to do anything within the dragon clan, but there is one thing you must remember: I will never tolerate betrayal from my people. Otherwise, it won't be as simple as just dying!"
Even if the Dragon Lord didn't say it, Yao Guang understood this in her heart. Moreover, her current identity was already quite awkward; why would she want to create more trouble for herself?
"Don't worry. Since I've joined your dragon clan, I will naturally behave myself and stay within the clan!" Yao Guang assured the Dragon Lord. She had never been one to stir up trouble; if it weren't for the constant bullying she endured, she wouldn't have resisted like this.
The Dragon Lord nodded in satisfaction at Yao Guang's words. He knew that this Star Lord Yao Guang was a person of her word.
Not only that, but he also felt a sense of anticipation for what this Star Lord Yao Guang would bring!
He was eager to see how this Star Lord Yao Guang would fare in battle against Ting.
"Alright then, you should rest here for now. I will explain the matters of the dragon clan to you later!" After giving Yao Guang some instructions, the Dragon Lord turned and left with his massive form.
Now, the entire cave was left with only Yao Guang, who finally relaxed.
These past few days had been overwhelming for her; she had thought her brothers and Xue were dead, only to find out they could come back to life.
This news still excited Yao Guang's heart. If it weren't for her awkward identity now, she would have rushed straight to Ting to see them.
Lying on the bed, Yao Guang's thoughts wandered until she unknowingly fell asleep.
When she woke up, it was already dark. Just then, the Dragon Lord had sent someone to call Yao Guang to the inner hall.
As she stepped out of the cave, Yao Guang realized that she was in the back mountain of the Dragon Lord's palace. Perhaps due to her identity issues, she had been placed in an obscure location. Now that the Dragon Lord wanted to introduce her to his Aquatic Race people, he summoned her over.
Upon arriving at where the Dragon Lord was, Yao Guang found herself being scrutinized by the Aquatic Race members, their eyes scanning her from head to toe.
Yao Guang faced the piercing gazes of those who seemed eager to dig a hole into her, remaining completely unresponsive to their stares.
The Dragon Lord looked at Yao Guang with satisfaction; her demeanor alleviated much of his trouble.
"Alright, alright! No need to be curious anymore. This is someone you all know well—it's none other than the Star Lord Yao Guang, who has now become one of our Dragon Clan!"
The Dragon Lord introduced Yao Guang with a smile, but as soon as he spoke, the members of the Aquatic Race erupted in chaos.
"Dragon Lord, this simply won't do!" exclaimed a turtle-like figure, burdened by its heavy shell.
"Dragon Lord, you must think twice! This is a celestial being; how do we know she isn't here as an undercover agent?" The crowd murmured in agreement.
During the previous Dragon War, they had witnessed Yao Guang's true colors. Although in the end, for reasons unknown, this Star Lord Yao Guang had pointed her weapon at their soldiers, the brutality of that moment was still fresh in their minds.
It was precisely this that made them wary; how could a Star Lord turn her gun on her own comrades during war? Even if she had joined the Dragon Clan now, who’s to say she wouldn’t do the same to them in the future? They certainly didn’t want someone like her around.
Hearing the concerns of the Aquatic Race, Yao Guang did not lose her temper and maintained a blank expression. She understood that their words held some truth; she had indeed killed many soldiers in the end.
However, the crux of the matter lay not in their accusations but rather in what the Dragon Lord sitting above truly thought.
Her fate rested entirely on a single word from him. Thus, Yao Guang turned her gaze toward the Dragon Lord seated at the head of the table.
The Dragon Lord was smiling as he observed the commotion among the Aquatic Race. He had been away from the world for many years; these Aquatic Race members were no longer those he once knew. Their audacity before him suggested they were unaware of his temperament.
He hadn’t brought Yao Guang here to seek their opinions; he merely wanted to show them respect by informing them that Yao Guang would be joining him. However, it seemed that after his long absence, these Aquatic Race members had grown increasingly unruly.
The Dragon Army then glanced at the Four Seas Dragon King standing directly below him. As expected from one of his former subordinates, they remained silent and stood by without joining in the ruckus with the Aquatic Race or nodding in agreement with his actions.
Having been away for so many years, it was impressive that they could still guess his thoughts so accurately. The Dragon Lord nodded in satisfaction.
The Aquatic Race continued to chatter incessantly about what they wanted to express.
In the past, one could only hear the sound of a Dragon Roar echoing from the underground palace. This sharp Dragon Roar revealed the true forms of these Aquatic Race members.
Yao Guang looked at the scene before him and chuckled. Originally, those from the Aquatic Race had appeared in human form, but now, having reverted to their true selves, they were nothing more than River Clam Spirits and Carp Spirits.
The area was so crowded that there was hardly any space to stand, and the bustling scene made it hard not to laugh.
"Sorry, I couldn't help myself for a moment; please continue!" the Dragon Lord yawned and addressed the oddly shaped Aquatic Race below.
It was unexpected for the Dragon Lord to be so playful. His actions left those Aquatic Race members, who had returned to their true forms, at a loss. It was even more bizarre to see fish mouths speaking human words.
Now, aside from Yao Guang, only the Four Seas Dragon King remained standing. However, could the Four Seas Dragon King not be so obvious? Yao Guang observed their trembling shoulders and knew they were struggling to suppress their laughter.
Upon hearing the Dragon Lord's words, the Aquatic Race members exchanged glances.
Just because of that remark, they had already reverted to their original forms. Their cultivation had diminished by several decades; how could they dare to act recklessly in front of the Dragon Lord?
At this moment, upon hearing the Dragon Lord's voice, none of them dared to make a sound. Indeed, no one dared to speak up.
After all these years of seclusion, did they really think they could be so audacious in front of him?
"I have already given you a chance. Since you are unwilling to speak, let me tell you that the Star Lord Yao Guang no longer exists. Now, only Yao Guang remains among our dragon clan," the Dragon Lord said casually, as if he were merely chatting with them. The remaining Aquatic Race members felt utterly despondent. Though they wished to argue back, they did not dare utter another word in front of the Dragon Lord and could only cast pleading looks toward the four Dragon Kings standing beside him.
The four Dragon Kings stepped forward and faced the Dragon Lord. With hands clasped together, they bowed deeply and spoke in unison, "We humbly follow your teachings; we obey your command!"
Listening to the Dragon Lord's words, those Aquatic Race members realized they could not obstruct his decision any longer. They felt disheartened and offered a respectful bow to Yao Guang.
The Four Seas Dragon King had no objections. From the very beginning, he had fought alongside the Dragon Lord in bloody battles.
Now, how many of the Aquatic Race had witnessed the power of the Dragon Lord in his prime? That terrifying strength had deeply impressed the Four Seas Dragon King. Even after all these years, the fearsome power of the Dragon Lord still occasionally resurfaced in their hearts. Moreover, the current Dragon Lord was even more formidable than before. Thus, their compliance with the Dragon Lord's decisions was merely a habitual submission.
Watching this scene unfold, Yao Guang simply nodded slightly.
"Thank you, Dragon Lord!" Yao Guang said to the Dragon Lord.
This was what absolute power looked like! Regardless of whether others agreed with your opinions, as long as you possessed absolute strength, they had no choice but to bow down.
Just like the Dragon Lord sitting before him, akin to an Emperor on high.
Yao Guang began to yearn for such power. If he possessed that kind of strength, could he not do whatever he wanted? He would no longer have to consider others' thoughts or opinions.
The Dragon Lord observed Yao Guang's changing expression from his seat. He knew that this moment would leave a deep impression on Yao Guang's heart. He wanted Yao Guang to understand that only by following him and mastering absolute power could one do what they truly desired.
How interesting; it was truly fascinating. The Dragon Lord twirled the wine cup in his hand, eagerly anticipating how Yao Guang would develop within the dragon clan.
And what expression would the Jade Emperor wear upon seeing Yao Guang?
Everything was just too intriguing, and so, throughout that night, everyone witnessed the strange smile on the Dragon Lord's face. (To be continued.)
