Yama's Wedding
The mighty Dragon Lord had lived for so long, yet no one had ever dared to shout so boldly in his presence. Even when he was just a hatchling, he was a divine dragon, a pride of his kin. The entire clan treated him as a treasure, and no one ever dared to reprimand him. As he grew into adulthood, he indeed lived up to expectations, mastering numerous spells and leading the dragon race to a period of glory.
If it weren't for the cunning of the human Emperor, who deceived him into signing a peace treaty lasting ten thousand years, the proud dragon race would never have settled in the desolate Four Seas.
Over the years, he had diligently practiced his skills, driven by the desire for revenge against the Candle Dragon. The Candle Dragon had been his chosen successor but was tricked into sacrificing himself by that deceitful Jade Emperor. Although it was in accordance with fate, the Dragon Lord's heart remained unsettled. If the Jade Emperor hadn't feared the Candle Dragon's powers, why would he have eliminated him without leaving even a trace behind? The Candle Dragon was a child he had watched grow up—honest and kind. Yet in the end, he never got to see him again. Every time he thought of this, the Dragon Lord felt a deep ache in his heart.
Had it not been for his overconfidence back then, believing that the dragon race's powerful magic could allow them to act with impunity across realms, he would not have fallen for the Jade Emperor's tricks to such an extent!
Now that the ten-thousand-year treaty had finally expired, the dragon race rose up to reclaim their honor. They believed that with their formidable combat strength, they could easily defeat those hypocritical deities. However, upon entering the court, they encountered Shu Xing Jun—someone whose low status in court had been underestimated. Little did they know that this seemingly inconsequential figure possessed such great abilities that he could defeat the Sea Dragon King's son without leaving a single opponent standing.
If it weren't for this encounter, perhaps he wouldn't have shown up at all. But he couldn't just stand by and watch as those deities tarnished the dragon race's reputation.
Though it might seem like he was using his power to bully others, the Jade Emperor had done similar things in the past. He was merely returning what had been done to him.
Initially, the Dragon Lord intended to show mercy, but Shu's refusal to back down only fueled his anger.
"Since you seek death, I shall grant your wish!"
With those words from the Dragon Lord, Shu felt an immense pressure—one he had only experienced from the Jade Emperor before. Indeed, this was the Dragon Lord. His magical prowess far surpassed that of the four-tailed Demon Dragon they had faced earlier.
Shu struggled under that pressure. He absolutely could not concede; otherwise, his soldiers would suffer dire consequences.
"Child, let's see how long you can endure." The Dragon Lord was taken aback as he observed Shu standing firm against his overwhelming force. He had never encountered anyone who could withstand his pressure like this before. The Dragon Lord regarded Shu with admiration; it was a pity that such a remarkable individual belonged to another race.
He despised those deities in court more than anything else. It seemed there was no choice but to eliminate this child—though it was somewhat regrettable. For the greater good of the dragon race, it was just one life after all.
A brilliant golden light erupted as a massive golden figure spiraled forth. The entire expanse of sea and sky was illuminated by this golden radiance, far brighter than Shu's own Starlight moments ago. After a blinding flash of gold light, a colossal form emerged from above the clouds, eliciting gasps from every Aquatic Race present.
This was what transformed into the true form of the Dragon Lord.
The immense dragon body exuded both power and beauty. Its golden scales shimmered against the clouds; each scale sparkled like a large mirror in the dark sky, illuminating everyone around with its dazzling brilliance.
Yao Guang watched as the Dragon Lord transformed into a dragon, the scales shimmering in such a way that they reflected Yao Guang's astonished expression.
This was the first time in many years that the Dragon Lord had revealed his dragon form before the world, and his massive body left the other dragons feeling inadequate.
The enormous, coiling body of the Dragon Lord, if fully extended, could likely bridge the distance to the ground below.
Standing before him, Shu appeared particularly small. He lifted his head to gaze at the giant dragon, feeling no fear whatsoever.
Shu's expression remained calm, but the way he bit his lip revealed his nervousness. He needed to muster every ounce of focus to face this colossal dragon.
The rain that had been falling lightly suddenly intensified, pouring down in torrents as if from a broken dam!
Shu silently recited a spell in his mind, and above him, a storm of lightning and thunder brewed ominously, as if something was being prepared.
"Shu is casting his most impressive lightning spell!" Xuan exclaimed in surprise at the sight of the tempest above Shu.
It was known that Shu rarely used his lightning spells on such a grand scale.
Indeed, Shu was facing difficulties while casting this spell. He had never attempted to unleash such a powerful lightning spell before. Unfortunately, he was up against a massive golden dragon; ordinary lightning spells would be ineffective against it. Shu could only exert all his strength to channel his lightning magic.
Yao Guang observed Shu as he worked on his spell. The lightning magic of Shu Xing Jun was akin to the thunder tribulations faced by demons in the lower realms. Any demon ascending must first endure eight thunder tribulations, which often left them utterly terrified. Yao Guang anxiously watched as Shu conjured such a formidable thunder tribulation, silently praying that it would harm the Dragon Lord.
At that moment, the thunder tribulation Shu was brewing was far more powerful than the one previously unleashed against the four-tailed Demon Dragon!
The Dragon Lord merely raised his head and gazed at Shu, seemingly unconcerned about what Shu might use against him. To the Dragon Lord, Shu's actions appeared nothing more than childish play.
"Rise!"
Shu poured all of his magical power into this thunder tribulation. A blue lightning bolt descended with the force of a thousand thunders, so fast that even Yao Guang and Kaiyang could barely follow its movement. In an instant, it struck the massive body of the Dragon Lord. As the first bolt hit, sparks flew everywhere, and once they dissipated, it became clear that there was no damage on the golden dragon scales.
Seeing the Dragon Lord in this state, Shu felt a chill in his heart.
"Child, do you have any stronger lightning? Bring it on!"
It seemed that the previous strike had caused no harm to the Dragon Lord. Instead, he twisted his body and arrogantly taunted Shu.
Shu pressed his lips together; he had never seen anyone stand unharmed beneath his lightning. Especially since this time, his lightning was unlike any before. What did it matter if it was the Dragon Lord? As long as he went against it, he would be punished!
Gritting his teeth, Shu unleashed several more bolts of lightning. One after another, they struck down in rapid succession, creating a series of arcs that continuously targeted the Dragon Lord.
Each strike was even more powerful than the last, with thunder rumbling as it fell upon the Dragon Lord's body.
All one could see was a chaotic display of flashes and roars where the Dragon Lord stood, making it difficult to discern anything clearly.
Some of the lightning bolts struck the sea, sending up massive waves that crashed toward the aquatic army, instantly throwing them into disarray.
Yao Guang could only watch as the golden figure twisted amidst the electric flashes. His heart leaped with joy. "Did my brother hit the Dragon Lord?"
"No, wait! The Dragon Lord doesn't seem to be avoiding those bolts; instead, he appears to be welcoming them!"
Kaiyang's anxious voice rang in Yao Guang's ears. Turning to look, Yao Guang saw that amidst the thunder and lightning, not only was the Dragon Lord not evading; he was moving toward the descending bolts.
What was happening? Did those lightning strikes have no effect on the Dragon Lord at all?
"Child, you probably don't know this, but among my own cultivated spells is lightning! For me, these bolts are merely a tickle!" The Dragon Lord laughed maniacally amidst the flashes and roars. "What can mere lightning do to me?"
The lightning from the Thunder Formation continued to strike down upon the Dragon Lord.
Indeed, the Dragon Lord stood unwavering within the Thunder Formation, his golden scales not only unscathed but shimmering even more brilliantly under the relentless strikes of lightning.
"I am invincible, what can you do to me!"
The arrogant voice of the Dragon Lord echoed from within the Thunder Formation.
With each thunderous blow, the Dragon Lord appeared even more ferocious, allowing the lightning to strike him without flinching. He danced and soared within, showcasing the might of his dragon lineage.
"Long live the Dragon Lord! Long live the Dragon Lord!"
Witnessing this spectacle, the Aquatic Race, who had been stunned by the thunder, now cheered fervently for their Dragon Lord.
Yao Guang watched anxiously as Shu. This Thunder Formation had drained all of Shu's magical power. To their surprise, it not only failed to harm the Dragon Lord but instead seemed to enhance his power.
"Child, since you have made your move, it is now my turn! Don't blame me for bullying you all later!"
The Dragon Lord opened his massive jaws and swallowed the still crackling Thunder Formation whole.
Seeing such might from the Dragon Lord, Shu had already made a decision in his heart. (To be continued.)
