After a sleepless night, Xue stepped into the morning sunlight, preparing to bid farewell to the Phoenix Empress. As he entered the living room, he saw the Phoenix Empress lying alone on a chair, seemingly asleep.
There was still a hint of redness around her eyes. It seemed that he had been too reckless the night before.
"Hey, Candle Dragon, this girl is quite beautiful! Where did you find her?" At that moment, Xue was still naive and immediately noticed a girl with red lips and white teeth beside Candle Dragon.
"Who are you? Get away!" The girl had a fiery temper; upon hearing Xue's teasing words, she retorted angrily.
"Phoenix Empress, do not be rude. This is Golden Wheel Xue," Candle Dragon slightly turned his body to block Xue's view.
"Hahaha, Candle Dragon, you're done for!" Xue quickly realized that this girl called the Phoenix Empress was Candle Dragon's beloved. He had never seen Candle Dragon care so much for any girl before.
"Xue, you're awake!" The Phoenix Empress sat up wearily and asked Xue.
"Uh, yes." Lost in thought, he hadn't even noticed when the Phoenix Empress woke up. "Phoenix Empress, I will be leaving today. Who knows when we will meet again? I wish you all the best!"
"Xue, what brings you to the mortal realm?" The Phoenix Empress blinked and smiled at Xue, as if she were once again that innocent girl from years ago.
It shouldn't matter to her, right? "I came to capture the soul of Star Lord Yao Guang and bring her to the Underworld for reincarnation."
To his surprise, upon hearing this, the Phoenix Empress burst into laughter. "Xue, no—Wheel King Xue! After all these years apart, you've fallen so low. I've heard about this girl throughout the Three Realms. I never expected you would want to arrest her. Do you know that her suffering in reincarnation is all because of you?"
Feeling a slight discomfort in his heart, Xue quickly suppressed it and looked at the Phoenix Empress before him. After so many years apart, she seemed like a different person. He hadn't taken a close look at her yesterday, but now he noticed that her once innocent face had become enchanting. Her hair was styled like a woman's, and the pure celestial aura that used to shine from her brow was now tinged with something sinister.
"Phoenix Empress, if that's the case, we should abide by our duties. As immortals, we must take responsibility for our roles," Xue said earnestly to comfort the Phoenix Empress.
"What a noble sentiment! What is duty? What do you count as in this world?" The Phoenix Empress looked at Xue mockingly.
"Xue, if I don't come back, take good care of the Phoenix Empress," the words of Candle Dragon echoed in his ears, but seeing the Phoenix Empress like this...
"Phoenix Empress, I must pursue Star Lord Yao Guang; otherwise, there will be great chaos in the mortal realm."
"And after you catch her? Will you take her to the Underworld and force her to reincarnate again? Do you know what fate the Jade Emperor has given her through ten lifetimes?" The sharp gaze of the Phoenix Empress fixed on Xue, leaving him at a loss for words under her scrutiny.
Seeing Xue's expression, she realized that this fool truly didn't understand. Well, she was already a person doomed to suffering; why should that child follow in her footsteps? Her old friend had been stripped of all his stubbornness over these countless years.

Yao Guang? Was this person really Yao Guang?
Xue turned around quickly to face Yao Guang. The girl before him had two hair buns and big eyes looking at him. Her once rounded chin had become sharper over the years, yet there was still a familiar feeling in her brows and eyes.
"Sister Phoenix Empress, please don't!" Before her voice faded, Yao Guang stepped in front of Xue again to stop the Phoenix Empress's attack.
"Yao Guang, move aside! Otherwise, I'll strike you too!" The Phoenix Empress glared at Yao Guang with disappointment.
Xue looked between the two people opposite him and momentarily couldn't react. How did Yao Guang end up here with the Phoenix Empress?
“Phoenix Empress, you should explain to me how Yao Guang ended up here.”
“Hmph,” the Phoenix Empress scoffed dismissively.
After a moment, the three finally settled down, and Xue began to understand the situation.
After escaping the Underworld, Yao Guang had collapsed due to extreme weakness and hadn’t gotten far before losing consciousness. Although Yao Guang’s soul was in tatters, it was still that of an immortal, which attracted many demons and spirits. However, out of instinct, they dared not approach her closely. The moment they saw Yao Guang unconscious, they prepared to devour her soul. Fortunately, the Phoenix Empress happened to pass by and saved Yao Guang.
“Did you hear that? It wasn’t me; Yao Guang’s soul had already scattered,” the Phoenix Empress boasted to Xue.
“Sister Phoenix Empress, Yao Guang is very grateful for your rescue. I will repay your kindness in the future,” Yao Guang said with a flushed face, stammering as she spoke.
“Girl, am I that kind of person? What I want isn’t your gratitude; it’s Xue’s gratitude. This debt will be remembered on his head. Right, Xue?”
“Sure!” Xue’s response surprised both women.
“What? You, you…” The Phoenix Empress was at a loss for words. How did Xue suddenly become so perceptive?
As for Yao Guang, upon hearing this, her face turned crimson. She didn’t know where to put her hands and couldn’t bring herself to look at Xue. A sweet feeling blossomed in her heart; Xue’s meaning was that he considered her one of his own!
“You saved Star Lord Yao Guang, so she has stayed here ever since?” Xue asked the Phoenix Empress.
“Ah, um, yes, that’s right,” the Phoenix Empress replied as she regained her composure.
“Phoenix Empress, no matter what, I still want to thank you. I’m taking Yao Guang with me!” Xue said as he reached for Yao Guang, preparing to leave.
“Hey, you can’t just take her! Do you think this is just any place? I won’t allow you to bring Yao Guang back to the Underworld!”
In an instant, the atmosphere between the two became tense once again.
“Phoenix Empress, it’s alright. I’m willing to go with Xue, with Wheel King,” Yao Guang's voice resonated in their hearts.
“I’ll fight you, Xue!” Phoenix Empress declared, charging at him. Xue swiftly countered, restraining Phoenix Empress.
“Phoenix Empress, when did I ever say I would bring Yao Guang back to the Underworld? Can’t you see her soul is nearly dissipating? I’m taking her to Mount Buzhou to restore her soul!” Xue said helplessly, watching as Phoenix Empress continued to struggle against his grip.
“Are you really?” Phoenix Empress still seemed skeptical of Xue.
“I trust him,” Yao Guang said, shaking off Phoenix Empress's arm.
It struck Phoenix Empress suddenly that she was experiencing a sense of loss; how could a girl grow up and leave?
“Alright, since Yao Guang trusts you, I won’t ask further. You must take good care of Yao Guang and never bully her,” Phoenix Empress warned, shaking her fist at Xue.
“Phoenix Empress, take care of yourself!” Xue looked at the current state of Phoenix Empress; being alone on Dan Cave Mountain seemed infinitely lonely. “Yao Guang, let’s go!”
Phoenix Empress leaned against the window, watching the two figures fade into the distance—one in white and the other in purple. From afar, they appeared to be leaning on each other. “Yao Guang, you’re so brave; make sure to be good to Xue,” she thought. That fool Xue was clearly a bit smitten; otherwise, why would he go to Mount Buzhou to restore Yao Guang’s soul? He was just pretending to be tough.
Candle Dragon, look at your brother; he’s no longer alone. I believe Yao Guang is a good girl; they will surely be happy together.
