The time for the assessment quickly approached. After exchanging a few words with Long Ling'er, Ye Yu reluctantly ended the communication. Hearing the good news from Long Ling'er warmed his heart.
As Ye Yu arrived at the door of the assessment classroom, he noticed a somewhat disheveled and lazy-looking man staring at him—it was none other than Gale.
"Congratulations!" Gale's voice was still languid, but it was filled with joy.
Ye Yu nodded, not saying much more, and walked into the assessment classroom. From Gale's level of attention, Ye Yu felt a surge of anticipation for the journey into the Lost Secret Realm.
With the activation of the holographic simulator, Ye Yu's team entered a new environment—a room approximately thirty square meters in size.
"Urban combat?" Chen Tang quickly reacted, speaking instinctively. Through the window of the room, he saw towering buildings outside and deduced that they were located on a high floor.
"The only weapon is a Phase Gun; it seems winning won't be easy," Nasha said, glancing at the weapon in his hand with some disappointment. At this point, their combat capability was equivalent to that of ordinary soldiers, meaning their fighting methods were quite limited.
"There are twenty-four teams in this free-for-all; it's impossible to win relying solely on individual efforts," Ye Yu observed the tranquil surroundings and felt a twinge of nervousness.
"Alliances?" Wang Jiu immediately caught on. In such a large-scale melee, their only chance of victory lay in forming alliances with other teams.
Ye Yu nodded and said, "We definitely need to form alliances. However, due to the sudden nature of this situation, we didn't have time to gather information about other teams. Forming alliances isn't an easy task."
The examiners from the First Military Academy had deliberately informed everyone of the competition rules very late to prevent candidates from preparing in advance. Even those who stayed up all night couldn't prepare thoroughly.
"Let's head out; otherwise, we might get ambushed and taken out all at once." Ye Yu tightened his grip on the Phase Gun and opened the door first.
Once he confirmed that there were no ambushes nearby, Ye Yu stepped out of the room. After exiting, he realized that this building had a layout of four suites per floor, with an elevator in the middle and stairs opposite it.
Xia Chiu instinctively opened the elevator door and prepared to step inside.
"Wait, let's take the stairs," Ye Yu immediately reminded Xia Chiu upon seeing her actions. As someone trained in special operations, Ye Yu knew that taking the elevator in this situation could easily lead to being trapped inside and ultimately ambushed.
The others were not pampered individuals; they quickly understood Ye Yu's meaning. The five of them formed a defensive formation and carefully made their way downstairs.
In the corridor, only the faint sound of their footsteps and barely audible breaths could be heard, creating an unusually oppressive atmosphere.
"You know, since we got first place this time, shouldn't we celebrate a bit?" Wang Jiu suggested, unable to tolerate the tense ambiance any longer.
"How about going to Color Cloud Star? I hear it’s always like early summer there, with stunning natural scenery," Xia Chiu replied instinctively.
At that moment, Ye Yu suddenly signaled for silence. Xia Chiu stuck out her tongue and held her breath.
The next second, they all heard faint footsteps and quiet conversations. They were almost on the first floor and certainly did not want to be caught by enemies now.
Ye Yu gestured for everyone to stay still, then cautiously approached the exit. After waiting for five seconds and confirming that no one was coming up the stairs, he carefully peeked outside.
It was him? Ye Yu immediately recognized the man facing him; he was from the same class. As for the other members of his team, they were likely still searching in their room. At this moment, Ye Yu was weighing his options—should he ally with this person or take the chance to eliminate him?
For the past six months, Ye Yu had been focused on recovering his combat abilities. Aside from frequent contact with his own team members, he hadn’t interacted much with others from his class. This man was merely an acquaintance; Ye Yu wasn't sure if he would be willing to form an alliance.
However, if he chose not to ally with him, it would lead to a fight to the death. Ye Yu understood that even if they managed to eliminate the other party, their own losses would be severe. Moreover, finding someone else to ally with afterward would be even more difficult.
With that thought in mind, Ye Yu stepped back and used gestures and lip movements to inform everyone of the situation and gauge their willingness.
Before anyone could make a decision, Nasha stepped forward first, indicating her intention to go out and propose an alliance.
An important aspect of team cohesion is trust in one another. From Nasha's confident gaze, Ye Yu saw her determination and nodded in agreement.
Nasha walked over calmly, and when she saw the other person, she said in a steady voice, "Ouyang Yi, let's form an alliance!"
Ouyang Yi looked visibly surprised, but by the time he turned around, his expression had already returned to neutrality.
"Miss Nasha, I didn't expect to encounter you here," Ouyang Yi said as he stepped closer to the staircase. "You want to ally with me?" His voice had noticeably risen, clearly intended to alert the other members of his team.
"Yes, but for now, my captain Ye Yu will discuss this with you," Nasha said, casting a wary glance at him while signaling Ye Yu to come over. At the same time, her Phase Gun was aimed precisely at Ouyang Yi's vital spot.
Hearing Nasha's call, Ye Yu approached and said, "I believe our alliance can take us further."
"With Captain Ye's strength, I naturally believe that. It's just..." Ouyang Yi hesitated slightly, his thick brows furrowing.
"Just what?" Ye Yu narrowed his eyes, sensing that Ouyang Yi was about to propose conditions.
"How can I trust your sincerity? What if you ambush us from behind?" Ouyang Yi glanced at Nasha, hinting at his concerns.
"Hmph, how can someone from the Ouyang Family be so indecisive? If we were to betray you, you wouldn't really be 'dead.' You could easily go out and spread the word about it; that would be enough for us to deal with!" Nasha replied straightforwardly, her frustration evident.
Upon hearing Nasha's words, Ouyang Yi burst into laughter. "Perhaps I was overthinking it. I'm willing to cooperate with you. If we make it to the final moments together, we can settle our differences then!"
Though Ye Yu still harbored some concerns in his heart, he knew there was no point in hesitating any longer. He stepped forward and shook hands with Ouyang Yi. "Then it's settled; we officially form an alliance!"
