A deep, rumbling roar suddenly echoed through the jungle, sending tremors through the trees and startling countless birds and beasts.
"They're actually attacking!" Ye Yu thought in shock. Although the Independent Kuei Beast was a unique creature of the Blue Seal Empire, as an elite of the First Military Academy, he should have been familiar with these beasts. Knowing about them meant he wouldn't be foolish enough to provoke them. Over twenty Independent Kuei Beasts with combat power exceeding the Fifth Stage were not something an ordinary team could handle.
At that moment, Er Bing shared Ye Yu's thoughts; she too was taken aback by her team’s sudden aggression. The Independent Kuei Beast roared in pain, its primal instincts ignited. The entire jungle shook with powerful sound waves.
Once enraged, the destructive power of an Independent Kuei Beast at the Fifth Stage was astonishing. Just as Er Bing's team began their attack, four or five Independent Kuei Beasts immediately used their sharp horns to uproot trees from the ground. Then, as if receiving some command, these beasts charged forward, using their hard heads to strike the massive logs they had lifted directly toward Er Bing's team.
The logs came crashing down with ferocity, hitting Er Bing's team almost instantly. A chorus of wails erupted. Er Bing had no time to tend to the injured and could only coordinate her team to continue focusing their firepower on the attack.
With one wave of assault barely quelled, another began. After the first wave from the Independent Kuei Beasts, three more suddenly leaped into action, heading straight for Er Bing's position.
"What are they planning..." Er Bing had never encountered an Independent Kuei Beast before and had no idea what their intentions were. In the next moment, she caught sight of three other Independent Kuei Beasts leaping up as well.
Boom! At that moment, the first three Independent Kuei Beasts landed on the ground. It felt as though an earthquake had struck; the ground beneath Er Bing trembled violently. The next moment brought another wave of vibrations. With this tremor, the previously quaking ground suddenly cracked open.
Caught off guard, Er Bing nearly fell into the crevice. Before she could react, the third wave of tremors hit, and this time the ground's fissure had widened more than twice its original size, instantly swallowing most of Er Bing's team.

The attacks from the Independent Kuei Beasts seemed relentless, not only tearing apart the ground but also accompanied by powerful bass waves. Despite Er Bing's remarkable composure, she finally couldn't hold on any longer and missed her footing, tumbling into the seemingly endless cracks. It was only at the last moment that Er Bing felt a surge of anger; how could the Independent Kuei Beasts be so unintelligent? They not only understood teamwork but also knew how to combine their strength for even more powerful attacks.
But it was too late now. The moment Er Bing fell into the crevice signified her opponents' victory. From entering the virtual assessment scene to the end of the evaluation, it had taken only a few minutes—possibly breaking the record for the fastest completion in history.
Naturally, Er Bing felt unwilling to accept this outcome. If she had faced another team head-on, no matter how strong they were, she believed she could have put up a good fight. However, this time she truly felt frustrated; how could one person possibly contend against the entire First Military Academy's rules?
“...Fortunately... Independent Kuei Beast...” At that moment, familiar words reached Er Bing's ears, and she immediately realized what was happening.
The examination hall's door had opened, and Er Bing clearly saw three men and two women happily walking past her. She overheard them expressing their relief at having escaped the Independent Kuei Beasts' attack and even inadvertently drawing attention away from themselves to secure a victory.
Er Bing shook her head with a sigh and stepped out, looking at the five individuals before her. “Congratulations to you all, but I believe we will have another battle!”
Even in defeat, one must not lose their spirit; this was Er Bing's principle.
At that moment, Ye Yu felt joy in his heart and had already planned where to go for a celebratory meal. Just as they stepped out of the examination room and exchanged a few words, a short-haired, handsome woman stood before them. She appeared friendly yet maintained an obvious distance while congratulating them on their victory. But why did it seem like there would be another battle?
“I am Er Bing, from the team that was just defeated by the Independent Kuei Beasts.” Er Bing's voice was somewhat cold, reminiscent of a lofty fairy from an ancient fantasy drama.
Ye Yu was momentarily taken aback, but quickly regained his composure and said, "The battlefield is unpredictable; we were just lucky."
"Don't get too proud. In a real battlefield, you won't be this fortunate!" Er Bing remained silent, but one of the slender-faced women behind her suddenly became a bit emotional.
