Upon hearing the news, Professor Luo sprang into action. He opened a hidden compartment and retrieved a new phone along with a stack of cash. 0

"Use this phone and throw away your old one. Modern phones come with GPS tracking; it won't take an hour for them to find you using your old phone. This money should last you for a while. Remember, don’t use a credit card or any other payment method that could be traced." 0

I took the items from him, but a question lingered in my mind. "Professor Luo, why are you helping me?" 0

His gaze suddenly darkened. "Because twenty years ago, I faced a choice similar to yours. I chose silence, and as a result, hundreds of thousands of investors lost everything. Those desperate eyes have haunted me all these years. I can't just stand by and watch history repeat itself." 0

As he spoke, I noticed his hands trembling slightly. 0

"What should I do now?" I asked. 0

"You need a safe place to hide," Professor Luo pondered for a moment. "I have an old friend who owns a farm in the suburbs; it should be safe there for the time being. You should go there and lay low for a while." 0

Just before I left, Professor Luo suddenly grasped my hand. "Xiao Chen, this isn't just about you. Those scammers hold the hard-earned money of countless ordinary people; do you understand what I mean?" 0

I nodded solemnly. In that moment, I felt not only the pursuit of truth but also a sense of mission. 0

Following Professor Luo's advice, I first went to a thrift store to buy some old clothes and put on a knit cap for disguise. Then I boarded a long-distance bus heading to the suburbs. 0

The scenery outside the window gradually transformed from towering buildings to fields. In the night, the distant mountains loomed faintly. Leaning back in my seat, I reflected on everything that had happened in just a few days: just last week, I was an ordinary financial analyst, and now I had become the "Criminal" wanted throughout the city. 0

But greater challenges lay ahead. As I stared out at the passing lights through the window, a wave of helplessness washed over me. In this money-driven world, could a mere analyst truly shake that vast financial empire? But then again, if I didn’t even dare to try, what would happen to those who had been deceived? 0

With these heavy thoughts, I slowly closed my eyes. At least for now, I knew I was not completely alone. 0

By the time I arrived at the Farm, it was already deep into the night. Throughout the journey, I had been reflecting on the crazy 72 hours: from discovering financial fraud, being framed, to now becoming a wanted criminal. Life is truly ironic; I had intended to expose a scam, yet I had become the Criminal. 0

Uncle Yang, the owner of the Farm, was a man in his sixties who looked as simple as an ordinary farmer. But when he spoke, I realized he was anything but ordinary. 0

“Do you remember the Han Sheng Case from 2008?” He poured me a cup of hot tea. “A lot of investors jumped off buildings back then; it caused quite a stir.” 0

“Of course, I remember. It’s a classic case in finance textbooks.” 0

Uncle Yang smiled wryly. “I was working as a trader at HSBC during that time, and I watched those people manipulate the market firsthand. Their methods were similar to what we see today; it’s just that now they play their game even more skillfully.” 0

It dawned on me why Professor Luo had sent me here. Uncle Yang was not just an ordinary farmer; he was a financial hermit. 0

“You're lucky,” Uncle Yang said after sizing me up for a moment. “We happen to be short-staffed right now. Tomorrow, you’ll learn how to drive a tractor. If anyone asks, just say you’re here to help from the neighboring village.” 0

I looked at this old man with gratitude. He had provided me with the best disguise—being an ordinary Farm worker. 0

Lying in the small wooden cabin that night, sleep eluded me. Outside, the chorus of frogs filled the air, occasionally interrupted by the chirping of insects. This tranquil rural scene stood in stark contrast to my current predicament. 0
