"Alright, no more jokes. This guy has always been sharp!" Zhao Pei said, then leaned in and planted a hard kiss on Ouyang Shasha's cheek. "Right, dear? You know him pretty well!"
"Not really. I couldn't do much back then, and I don't know if I've scared him over the years. I'm actually worried he might want me to take responsibility for something," she replied.
The two continued their banter, completely disregarding Lin Yi's feelings.
"Zhao Pei, if you don't start taking this seriously, I'll have to take out all your men!" Lin Yi warned.
He knew that if he didn't come down hard on this guy, he wouldn't get a straight answer. Yet, there was an odd feeling in him; perhaps something unexpected was about to happen.
"Oh no, I'm so scared!" Zhao Pei feigned fear, hiding behind Ouyang Shasha and peeking out at Lin Yi. Ouyang Shasha simply covered her mouth and laughed; it seemed she found this amusing as well.
"If you can't handle him, I can step in and help!" Zhao Pei added, nearly pushing Lin Yi over the edge with frustration.
"Alright, dear, we do need something from him, so let's stop joking around," Ouyang Shasha finally interjected, tugging at Zhao Pei's ear and pulling him out from behind her.
At that moment, Zhao Pei finally dropped his playful demeanor and looked at Lin Yi seriously. He then turned to Ouyang Shasha and asked, "Do you want to go first or should I?"
"I'll go first," Ouyang Shasha replied as she adjusted her clothes.
Lin Yi watched their seemingly nonsensical conversation with a puzzled expression.
“Captain. I owe you an apology, Ouyang Shasha said, bowing at a ninety-degree angle to Lin Yi. It took her a good ten seconds to lift her head, completely disregarding the stunning beauty that was evident before her.
“What... is going on?” Lin Yi was taken aback. He had already let go of the past; even though Ouyang Shasha's actions had caused him harm, they had ultimately pushed him to improve his abilities further.
“Alright, let me explain. My wife had no choice that time. On one hand, it was confirmed that you were a Zombie, so you had to be eliminated. But my wife has deep feelings for you. She didn't want to take action against you, even if you were a Zombie. Later, those annoying guys pressured my wife, saying that if she didn’t act, everyone would die. So after much thought, she decided to strike.
Later it was confirmed that you weren't a Zombie. She felt too ashamed to come back and find you, so she left your Mercenary group. Of course, in the end, she met her true love, Mr. Zhao Pei!”
When Zhao Pei arrived at this moment, he wore a proud expression, showing no signs of embarrassment and even winked at Lin Yi.
At this point, Lin Yi relaxed slightly. Zhao Pei and Ouyang Shasha didn’t seem to be here to confront him; perhaps there was indeed a chance for reconciliation. After all, it was quite difficult to take action against a childhood friend.
Seeing that Lin Yi had no objections to his words, Zhao Pei continued, “As for the future, we will naturally love each other and become husband and wife!
And regarding the issue of Zombies, we are in complete agreement: Zombies must be completely eradicated from this planet! Although I am also a Zombie, I am definitely a kind-hearted Zombie. Even though I am a Second Generation Zombie, I am absolutely a victim!”
“Second Generation Zombie?” Lin Yi interrupted with curiosity. Honestly, he felt nothing strange about Zhao Pei and Ouyang Shasha becoming a couple; their previous actions had already crossed into inappropriate territory! However, he was genuinely puzzled by the term Second Generation Zombie—did Zombies have generations?
“Yes, this is an internal classification of ours. I belong to the early infected Zombies; according to that batch, I count as the second generation! The dead flamboyant guy you just took down is also a second generation Zombie, but his status is much lower than mine. He was quite ambitious and held a significant position; that's why when he died, those Old Guys called me over!”
“Then who is the Generation?”
Lin Yi asked next. If these second generation Zombies were already so formidable, he figured that the Generation would likely be beyond his capabilities; he needed to clarify this question.
“Generation consists of those few Old Guys. They aren't that impressive, at least I think they might be about as strong as you. But they possess a special energy that allows them to control other Zombies. They can not only influence their thoughts but can even directly descend upon them to fight! However, I don't know if they have any other abilities since these Generation Old Guys never take action themselves.
Zhao Pei scoffed. The hierarchy among Zombies is quite strict; he can command all Zombies weaker than himself. Even a formidable Star Level Zombie has to obediently listen to him.
“What about you now?”
Upon hearing how powerful the First Generation Zombies were, Lin Yi looked at Zhao Pei with a hostile gaze, categorizing him as a must-kill type of Zombie.
“Everything exists in a balance. Those Old Guys are so strong; do you think I want to provoke you into using Absolute Space to imprison us? It's because I know that no matter how powerful those Old Guys are, they can't monitor your space!”
Zhao Pei shot a disdainful glance at Lin Yi.
“Fine, just do whatever you want!” Lin Yi was at a loss for words. He was also afraid of unexpected changes and didn't dare to stay in this space for too long.
“It’s simple. Ouyang Shasha and I hope to remain in your space until all those First Generation Zombies outside are dead!” Zhao Pei straightened his expression and said earnestly.
“Why should I trust you?”
This was not the time for brotherhood. Zhao Pei was a Zombie, and if he was playing tricks on him by staying in his Absolute Space, it would leave him with a huge hidden danger.
“The Zombies I brought, although not on my level, still represent a significant fighting force. If I eliminate them all, it will be an assurance for you!”
Looking at his fellow kind, there was no trace of sympathy in Zhao Pei’s eyes; at that moment, he resembled a Bloodthirsty demon lord.
"And I can go out with you, and promise you anything I can do!" Ouyang Shasha slightly bowed towards Lin Yi, her eyes filled with longing.
Lin Yi's heart had always been soft, so after seeing their actions, he instinctively chose to trust them.
"Alright, you take care of them first! But that's not enough; think about what else you have to negotiate with me!"
In the face of right and wrong, even though Lin Yi was soft-hearted, it depended on the situation. He couldn't afford to fully trust Zhao Pei right now, nor could he easily trust anyone, especially a Zombie!
As soon as Lin Yi finished speaking, Zhao Pei leaped without hesitation into the Thunder Sea, the rolling dark clouds instantly concealing his figure. Ouyang Shasha looked on with worry at the jumping lightning, wishing she could help.
"Don't worry, he's fine!" The entire Absolute Space belonged to Lin Yi; he naturally knew that Zhao Pei's current situation was quite unusual.
Their conversation lasted just over a minute without raising any suspicions. Just as Zhao Pei jumped into the Thunder Sea, he used some unknown method to quickly draw in the Zombies that had lost their direction.
In the blink of an eye, hundreds of Zombies gathered around Zhao Pei! At that moment, Zhao Pei's expression suddenly changed, and thick black gas surged from his body.
In an instant, the black gas formed a massive Dark World that enveloped all the Zombies. Then that Dark World suddenly collapsed, rapidly shrinking towards its center.
However, during the shrinking process, waves of power attempted to break free from the enveloping black sphere but failed every time!
Caught off guard by their leader's sudden attack, these Zombies probably wouldn't understand what had happened until their last breath!
This process lasted only a few minutes before the entire black sphere collapsed into a swirling dark orb.
In the next moment, Zhao Pei reappeared in front of Lin Yi, but his face was pale, as if he might collapse at any moment.
"Honey!"
Seeing Zhao Pei's poor complexion, Ouyang Shasha rushed to embrace him, casting a reproachful look at Lin Yi. Clearly, this woman, enveloped in love, believed that Lin Yi was the culprit behind Zhao Pei's pallor.
"This is an Energy Crystal formed from my spatial condensation. Without this Energy Crystal, I am no different from an ordinary person. Even if I wanted to absorb energy to enhance my strength again, it would take me at least ten thousand years to recover!"
Zhao Pei handed the glossy black orb to Lin Yi. Although Ouyang Shasha glared at him with resentment, Lin Yi ultimately accepted the orb into his hands.
"It's alright, dear. Having survived this calamity, we can be together peacefully for the rest of our lives!" Zhao Pei smiled reassuringly at Ouyang Shasha, a bit worried that she might not understand.
"How about it, old buddy? You won't be at a loss in this deal!" Zhao Pei added, noticing Lin Yi's troubled expression.
Lin Yi knew that Zhao Pei didn't need to sacrifice so much just to deceive him, but he still cast a concerned glance at Ouyang Shasha.
"Alright, I'll go out with you. Just leave my husband here!" Ouyang Shasha was decisive and stepped forward with determination.
Lin Yi was unsure of what to say and could only nod in agreement, indicating his acceptance of the deal. It truly was just a transaction; if they were friends, there would be no need for such grand gestures!
