Lin Yi felt a myriad of emotions swirling within him. He should have at least referred to Li Xianzong as "uncle," but now he realized that without Li Qiweng, he had no relationship with Li Xianzong at all.
"You child, how long has it been since we last met? Why have you become so distant with me?"
Li Xianzong's figure flickered and he appeared right beside Lin Yi. He looked at Lin Yi with a smile, much like a parent gazing at their child.
Lin Yi's heart seemed to be touched by something, but he quickly steadied himself. It wasn't that he didn't want to reminisce with Li Xianzong; it was just that he knew someone had disrupted his energy fluctuations just as he was about to tear through space, and that person was clearly Li Xianzong.
The ease with which his Spatial Ability was shattered left Lin Yi feeling somewhat suspicious. After Li Xianzong had been captured by Deman at the United Nations Square, Lin Yi hadn't heard any news of him. Now that he suddenly appeared, there had to be something more to it.
"I wonder why Uncle Li suddenly came here. Is there something you need?" Lin Yi smiled at Li Xianzong, realizing that he couldn't see through the man's strength.
Lin Yi believed he knew Li Xianzong well, but in less than a year, how could his power have increased to such an extent? Even taking various Potential Gene Drugs would require time. However, this was not the moment to ask such questions, especially since Lin Yi was still doubting whether this person was truly the Li Xianzong he knew.
Li Xianzong glanced around at the people nearby and then waved his hand. Suddenly, a strange energy rippled around them, and Lin Yi found that his Psychic Power could not penetrate this energy.
"Come back to Lion City with me. This place is still too dangerous!"
Lin Yi was taken aback upon hearing Li Xianzong's words; after all, it was in Lion City that he had been hunted down. Wasn't returning there akin to seeking death? However, he couldn't express this thought aloud. Instead, he feigned ignorance and asked, "What is the situation in Lion City now?"
"Deman is still trying to kill me, but as long as you agree to come back with me, I can prove that you are not a Zombie, and then I will be safe as well!"
Li Xianzong smiled slightly, as if it were merely a simple matter. Yet Lin Yi couldn't help but wonder how Li Xianzong had managed to escape.
"Lin Yi!"
At that moment, Ying Sa suddenly flashed over to Lin Yi's side and linked her arm with his in a very affectionate manner.
Seeing this scene, Li Xianzong frowned and asked, "What is going on here?"
Lin Yi was taken aback and didn't know how to explain. However, Ying Sa was straightforward by nature. She raised her chin defiantly and said boldly, "Sister Li has always thought Lin Yi is a Zombie. Every time she acts against him, it's to take his life. Naturally, Lin Yi shouldn't stay with someone who wants to kill him!"
Li Xianzong seemed unaware of this matter and asked in confusion, "I only recently freed myself from Deman's control. I really didn't know about this situation, but I believe Wen is not someone who can't distinguish right from wrong."
"Uncle Li, the current situation is so complicated; I wonder what you know about it?"
Lin Yi shifted the topic, feeling a mix of emotions inside him. It wouldn't be fair to explain anything to Ying Sa now, and it seemed that the more he explained, the less convincing it would be.
"It was our oversight!"
Li Xianzong sighed, a hint of desolation in his eyes. The imposing aura of someone in power had completely vanished, and Lin Yi's question seemed to leave him at a loss.
After waiting for over a minute, the group finally followed Li Xianzong's suggestion and arrived at an uninhabited island. It was then that Li Xianzong revealed a secret that ordinary people could hardly know, but this secret had already harmed many.
He informed them that as early as the beginning of the first Zombie Crisis, high-ranking officials from several major countries had discovered that Zombies could evolve. The mysterious powers of Zombies piqued their curiosity, leading them to capture several for "breeding" in hopes of researching the source of their powers.
However, those countries' laboratories lacked an understanding of the dangers involved. One Zombie evolved at an astonishing rate and broke through the laboratory's defenses, escaping.
The laboratory immediately contacted relevant forces for pursuit, dispatching Ability users with incredible powers.
Yet this Zombie continued to evolve rapidly by consuming human flesh and blood along its path, gaining strength exponentially. Eventually, dozens of Ability users combined their efforts to eliminate this Zombie! However, it had already infected numerous humans, causing the Zombie Virus to spread geometrically!
At this point, everyone became aware that this Zombie was far from simple. The Zombies that followed began evolving even faster and developed stronger independent thinking. They organized themselves to spread the virus, causing their numbers to surge dramatically!
It was only then that the Global Security Conference officially took over global efforts to combat Zombies. However, Zombies had already spread to every corner of the world!
Under the leadership of the Global Security Conference, elite forces from various countries came together. On one hand, they made breakthroughs in developing Serum. On the other hand, they modified Gene Drugs—medications capable of temporarily enhancing a person's abilities. However, over ninety percent of their potency would dissipate eventually; only ten percent would integrate into human cells. This remaining ten percent represented a revolutionary change for humanity!
At this time, experts experienced a surge in power due to these drugs. The Ability users who had long served various nations finally revealed themselves and began hunting down Zombies! With the assistance of these drugs, their abilities improved at a pace faster than ordinary humans!
Thus, one year after the onset of the Zombie Crisis, the number of Super Experts saw significant growth. They finally managed to curb the momentum of Zombie development and began systematically eliminating them!
However, at this point, Zombies had also reached a peak in strength; there were hundreds of ten Star-Level Zombies and several experts surpassing that level! Although humanity's strength had increased, Zombies could evolve simply by consuming flesh and blood—a much simpler evolutionary process than humans could manage.
Nevertheless, human technology continued to break through barriers. Laser Cannons were launched into space; War God Suits and Mechanical Armors were developed successfully and served humanity.
Believing they had gained enough strength to eradicate Zombies entirely, humanity initiated an all-out offensive against them—culminating in an unprecedented battle.
In just this one battle, Zombie numbers decreased by over fifty percent while human casualties were significantly lower than those suffered by Zombies! Subsequent battles were tough but yielded continuous results. Lin Yi earned the title Mercenary King during this grand conflict.
However, as the war drew to a close, high-ranking officials from various countries discovered a peculiar issue: most ten Star-Level Zombies had vanished—including several powerful ones that surpassed even that level!
In order to prevent another wave of panic in society and to comfort the ordinary people who had suffered greatly, the task of eliminating the remaining Super Tier Zombies was entrusted to an elite team assembled from various countries. However, this elite team continuously encountered ambushes while searching for the Super Tier Zombies.
The top combat forces of humanity were being depleted, yet not a single Zombie hiding away was discovered! At this moment, the nations finally became aware that something was amiss and immediately joined forces to investigate.
Meanwhile, the Zombie Crisis suddenly erupted again in various regions, with Zombie infections spreading on a large scale. Initially, Lin Yi's first mission for the Lion City Armed Forces was to assist in exterminating Zombies on Sumatra Island. During that time, Li Xianzong received orders to attend a United Nations meeting regarding the Second Zombie Crisis.
Lin Yi's complete failure seemed like a mere coincidence, and just after his return, he was controlled by a powerful force. Soon after, it was announced that he had become a Zombie! It was evident that the spread of various false messages and actions aimed at discrediting others under the guise of exterminating Zombies had been tacitly approved, and Lin Yi was declared a traitor under such circumstances.
Clearly, there was a force within Lion City attempting to shuffle its main power structure, and Lin Yi unfortunately became the first victim.
However, Li Xianzong eventually uncovered the truth: those previously elusive Super Tier Zombies had fully evolved into human-like forms. They no longer needed to feed on human blood and were indistinguishable from humans. Yet they remained Zombies, merely lurking within human society and supporting their agents.
The powers of these Super Tier Zombies had evolved to a terrifying level, making it easy for them to manipulate certain individuals from the shadows! This time, however, they did not confront human society directly as they had before; instead, they employed schemes to drain humanity's strength!
The Zombie Crisis in Australia was merely a facade; Albert was only trying to capture the attention of ordinary people. The real undercurrents had long been swept under the control of hundreds of Super Tier Zombies, quietly engulfing all of human society.
Nevertheless, the existence of Zombies still relied on human society; they were transformed humans through the Zombie Virus and could not afford to lose their human foundation!
As long as humanity existed, it would be difficult for Zombies to find a foothold! However, it wasn't long before Zombies found a solution: they began to nurture Half-Human, Half-Undead beings, allowing them to reproduce continuously and provide a basic source for the Zombies!
