The Helmeted Man arrived at the cave entrance ahead of Lin Yi, followed closely by the man he referred to as Old Two. Aside from Lin Yi, who possessed the strength of a Nine Star Level warrior, the others lacked the ability to fly and were therefore slower.
At that moment, a sinister smile appeared in the Helmeted Man's eyes. Suddenly, his face contorted into a grimace, veins bulging.
"Run!" Lin Yi was alarmed; although he didn't know what the enemy was planning, his instincts kicked in, and he immediately scooped up Nicolas, racing toward the cave entrance.
But it was too late. Just as Lin Yi moved, the enemy let out a loud shout, and a massive vortex suddenly formed, completely blocking the cave entrance!
Lin Yi understood the power of this vortex; even weapons he had conjured with his abilities were easily shredded by it, demonstrating its destructive force.
"Hahaha! You can just wait for the arrival of death inside!" Outside the vortex, the Helmeted Man laughed heartily. Soon after, Lin Yi felt the man's presence rapidly receding until it vanished completely.
"What do we do now?" Froeman looked at Lin Yi, instinctively feeling that he should take charge. Just moments ago, Lin Yi had displayed incredible power by swiftly defeating two Super Experts, leaving them all in shock.
Renesmee also gazed at Lin Yi. She took Nicolas from his arms, her eyes filled with concern. At that moment, Nicolas lay with his eyes tightly shut and his lips twitching slightly. Thankfully, he was still breathing; otherwise, Renesmee would have been in tears.
"I need to recover. I'll get you out of here soon!" Lin Yi could no longer suppress the intense pain that felt like it was tearing him apart from within. He sat down cross-legged.
Sweat quickly soaked through Lin Yi's linen clothing as his body trembled. His breathing was rapid and labored, like a bellows working hard.
The others could only feel anxious; they didn't even have basic medicine on hand. In times past, they could rely on Lulu to provide dark energy for healing, but now everything depended on Lin Yi alone.
At that moment, Lin Yi felt as if he might fall apart entirely; that tingling sensation relentlessly eroded his strength while pain assaulted his mind, trying to break through his final defenses.
It felt as though an invisible voice kept telling him not to resist and to allow this nameless liquid to take over his body. Yet Lin Yi dared not let down his guard; the last remnants of clarity compelled him to fight against this invasion.
Suddenly, Lin Yi's heart began to race wildly. A sense of danger approached rapidly.
In the next instant, a tremendous roar echoed through the air!
Lin Yi's eyes widened in shock as he realized that the water gate nearby had been opened. The surging river water rushed toward him with a thunderous roar.
"Fall back!" As the most powerful wielder of Psychic Power among them, Lin Yi sensed the overwhelming force first and immediately stood up to lead everyone in retreat!
If this flood flowed back into the city, it would cause immense damage. However, it was clear that those pursuing them cared little for such consequences in their attempt to eliminate Lin Yi and his companions.
At that moment, Lin Yi felt a sudden release of power throughout his body, as if he had been anesthetized, leaving him utterly weak.
With a thud, Lin Yi's legs gave way, and he collapsed to the ground like a ragged sack.
"Boss!"
"Lin Yi!"
The crowd gasped in shock, but Renesmee quickly reached out with one hand and pulled Lin Yi into her embrace. At that moment, Renesmee was already carrying the weight of two men.
As Renesmee glanced at the approaching river, it was clear that the rushing waters were now just within reach.
Her delicate brows furrowed, and she shouted, "Go!"
Froeman understood that there was no time to waste. He led the group forward, but without any obstacles, the river's speed increased dramatically.
The eight of them felt like drifting reeds in a storm, at any moment they could be overwhelmed by the surging waters.
"If this river floods into the city, who knows how many people will suffer!" Froeman looked at the rapidly approaching water, pain etched on his face. Even though he was a wanted man, this was his homeland, and he couldn't bear to see ordinary people suffer.
"General, Trouble, keep Nick and Captain safe. I'll give it a try!"
A fleeting hint of something unusual crossed Renesmee's face as she handed Lin Yi and Nicolas over to Froeman and Oku. The twin brothers and Tina were already in shock; although they had fought alongside Lin Yi and taken down many zombies before, they had always been in control. Now they were on the run from relentless pursuers.
At that moment, a strange flush appeared on Renesmee's fair face. Her fingers trembled lightly as an icy energy radiated from her body.
In the next instant, Renesmee let out a sharp cry as an intense wave of freezing cold surged forth.
By now, the river was almost upon them; they could even see the splashes of water reflecting tiny stars in the air.
Suddenly, the rushing water froze rapidly and quickly transformed into a wall of ice that effectively blocked its advance.
"Crash—"
The impact of the river was too strong; the ice wall that had just formed quickly developed cracks, threatening to collapse at any moment.
Renesmee raised her eyebrows and, without hesitation, continued to unleash Frozen Domain. The area of ice rapidly expanded, finally halting the advance of the river.
"It's no use relying on Lin Yi and Captain now. We should just break through a hole and get out from here!" Froeman suggested, watching Renesmee's pale face as she repeatedly used her Ability.
"Okay, we need to be quick!" Lin Yi's weak voice sounded. At that moment, he placed one hand on Froeman's shoulder and slowly stood upright.
"Boss, are you alright?" Renesmee asked worriedly, sensing the chaotic energy emanating from Lin Yi.
Lin Yi lifted his eyelids and replied, "I'm fine; I'm not dead yet. But we need to find a safe place to rest quickly. I need to adjust myself."
Seeing the pain on Lin Yi's face, Froeman immediately signaled Caesar and Lori to break through the covering above them!
These two were the only other powerful fighters besides Froeman, having reached Eight-Star Combat Power. Although they had enhanced their strength through drugs and constant battles, they were still formidable.
The two young men nodded at each other, then Caesar suddenly leaped upward!
In the next moment, Caesar's fist slammed down onto the concrete slab above. Instantly, spiderweb-like cracks appeared on the surface!
"Boom—"
While everyone was still in shock, large chunks of debris began to fall. A massive opening, one meter deep and two meters wide, appeared before their eyes.
"Based on estimates, we're at least fifteen meters above ground here. You two need to keep pushing!" Froeman glanced at the hole and quickly assessed. He had traversed this Sewers countless times and was well aware of its structure.
Caesar and Lori knew there was no time to waste; they began pounding the thick earth above them with reckless abandon. They jumped up like two pile drivers, relentlessly striking at the soil!
With their Eight-Star Level physical strength facing such a heavy task, they were soon exhausted. It took them a full five minutes to finally break through!
During this time, Lin Yi had regained some strength, managing to suppress the tingling pain within him. Just as the hole was blasted open, Lin Yi's Psychic Power surged outward! At this moment, they were less than five kilometers from the riverbank and several dozen kilometers from where they had just escaped!
At that moment, Lin Yi sensed two powerful forces rapidly approaching from dozens of kilometers away.
"They're coming!"
Lin Yi's expression changed as he glanced at the others. Although Froeman and the others had just fought a fierce battle, they had not sustained any injuries. However, Nicolas was not so fortunate; he remained unconscious. Renesmee, having continuously used Frozen Domain, was now exhausted and pale.
"I'll go ahead and clear the way for you!" Froeman declared, leaping forward and using the sharp edge above the cave entrance to propel himself upward. In just a few breaths, he shot up into the air.
"Tina, you go next. Lashar and Roots, follow behind!"
Lin Yi surveyed his team. Aside from himself, it seemed only Renesmee had enough strength to assist him. He truly regretted bringing along the twins and Tina.
"Sister, we're leaving first." The three of them exchanged reluctant glances with Renesmee before anxiously spreading their wings and flying upward.
Once Renesmee saw their figures disappear from view, she turned to Lin Yi and said, "Our tribe is dwindling. Nick and I have already decided to follow you. If those three don’t come with us, I fear someone might cause them trouble. That's why I called them over as soon as we arrived here."
"For all these years, we've relied on each other. They can't leave me, and I can't leave them either!"
Lin Yi smiled lightly and nodded helplessly. "It's not that I see them as a burden; I'm just worried that in dangerous situations, we won't have enough strength to protect them."
