In a Civilized World, an incident occurred that was even rare in primitive societies: the brutal murder of one's own kind in broad daylight. Lin Yi could hardly accept it, and neither could the two police officers present.
“He... is dead...” Out of professional habit, one of the officers proceeded to check the man who was half-kneeling on the ground.
“I know!” Lin Yi's voice seemed to emerge from hell itself, deep and filled with a violent aura.
“Mr. Lin, this is our failure, but we are powerless!” one of the older officers said with a hint of helplessness.
“I’ve heard about these civil organizations, but I can’t understand how such public killings can happen right here, especially with you all present!” At that moment, Lin Yi also held the position of Director of the Lion City Security Committee. Although he was primarily responsible for the Zombie Incident, he couldn’t help but intervene in such matters.
“Mr. Lin, this has actually happened for the third time in our district. They always target the homeless. When incidents occur, there isn’t even anyone willing to come forward to testify against them.
We’ve caught them a few times, but each time more people come demanding their release. Some even staged hunger strikes right in front of the police station!
These individuals admit to the killings, yet our evidence is always insufficient, making it impossible for us to take action against them. They’re released after posting bail because if this escalates, it would be endless.
What’s even more terrifying is that just a few days ago, our chief was killed in his car after delaying their release!
We later sought out relevant video footage but found that even the empty Satellite surveillance data from that time had mysteriously vanished.
The National Security Agency conducted a secret investigation, yet they still found no clues!
We all know it’s those who operate under the guise of eradicating Zombies who are behind this, but they seem to evade legal repercussions as if aided by some divine force!”
Hearing the older officer mention the National Security Agency, Lin Yi suddenly remembered that Pachy was currently the highest authority there, with Taishan and Huolong as his capable assistants!
However, such matters cannot be resolved solely through force. Clearly, there are people stirring the pot, disrupting the social order. What benefit do they gain from this?
"Does President Li know about this?" Li Xianzong had been re-elected for a third term due to his outstanding command during the Zombie Crisis.
"As far as I know, he is aware, but he hasn't made any statements, and Congress hasn't taken any action either!" the Young Police Officer interjected, eager to speak more about a legendary figure like Lin Yi.
Lin Yi furrowed his brows, feeling uneasy. It was impossible for such events to occur without someone enabling them. This person must possess extraordinary power.
"Alright, you continue handling this matter; I'll find an opportunity to speak with them!" Seeing that the ambulance had arrived, Lin Yi realized he was of no further help here and decided to leave.
He was out today because he had received an invitation from Li Xianzong. They had arranged to meet at an upscale private club to discuss matters, and Lin Yi had already guessed much of what would be talked about.
To save time, Lin Yi didn't hesitate to use the flight system of the War God Suit. Before doing so, he sent a flight request to the air traffic control department.
In less than a minute, he received permission to fly and leaped into the air, activating the War God Suit's flight mechanism as he headed toward the seaside.
"Sir, I've just calculated that this situation is likely only possible with tacit approval from the highest levels!" Black, who had been silent until now, suddenly spoke up.
"What do you mean..." Lin Yi's heart skipped a beat as a thought flashed through his mind.
"Vice Chairman, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, or Commander!" Black's words struck Lin Yi like a heavy hammer, resonating in his mind.
"Impossible; they have no reason to do this!" Lin Yi immediately denied it but soon began to reconsider. Such violent incidents would typically be eradicated at their inception. Yet the recent event indicated that it was almost entirely unmonitored.
"I'm just analyzing based on common sense. When you meet Mr. Li later, you can ask him and find out."
Hearing Hei's words, Lin Yi couldn't help but sigh inwardly. After all, Hei was not human; even if Li Xianzong supported such matters, it wouldn't be easy for him to come out directly.

A few minutes later, Lin Yi arrived at a private high-end conference venue on an island not far from Lion City. The entire island was surrounded by dense vegetation, making it impossible to see inside from the outside. However, as one followed a path inward, they would discover a hidden world filled with exquisite architecture, rich in Eastern aesthetics, with intricately carved pavilions scattered throughout.
Despite its appearance as an untouched wilderness, the place was equipped with surveillance cameras and even a defense system. If Lin Yi hadn't received an invitation, he would never have been able to enter so easily.
After walking about a kilometer along the path, a young man in a suit suddenly appeared and silently led Lin Yi deeper into the forest.
After about ten minutes of walking, during which Lin Yi lost track of how many turns they took, they finally arrived in front of a rare two-story wooden building.
"Come in!" Li Xianzong said, leaning over the balcony on the second floor with a smile as he looked at Lin Yi.
Lin Yi nodded with a smile. As for his future father-in-law, he felt increasingly perplexed.
The house was not large, but once Lin Yi stepped inside, he felt a tense atmosphere enveloping him. He sensed at least ten pairs of eyes watching him, and the power represented by those gazes made even Lin Yi feel a sense of dread.
As he walked on the creaky wooden stairs, the sound grated on his nerves, and a surge of fear welled up within him.
Others believed that Lin Yi's marriage to Li Xianzong's daughter would propel him to great heights. However, in reality, Lin Yi wished that Li Qiweng were an ordinary person, as he preferred a simple life.
No matter how long the road was, it would eventually come to an end. Lin Yi reached the second floor, where Li Xianzong was dressed in a traditional robe, his hair neatly combed back. His fair face showed no signs of wrinkles, and he appeared vibrant and full of life.
"Have you given it some thought?" Li Xianzong gestured for Lin Yi to sit down while he busied himself with a tea set, seemingly preparing to brew a good cup of tea for Lin Yi.
Lin Yi wanted to help but ultimately held back.
"I'm afraid I'm too young to take on such a heavy responsibility!" In truth, Lin Yi knew that with his current reputation, even if there were dissenting voices, they would not be many. It was just that he felt this kind of task was indeed difficult to undertake.
"Hmm?" Li Xianzong suddenly turned around and frowned at Lin Yi, causing the temperature in the room to drop several degrees.
"When I first ran for office at the age of twenty-two, I had no idea what it meant to be too young to be competent! As it turned out, I was right; by twenty-eight, I had already become the youngest minister in Lion City’s history! So I have never doubted myself—why should you be afraid?
You are my daughter's husband and my only son-in-law; I do not want you to think like this!"
Li Xianzong handed Lin Yi a cup of brewed tea and poured another cup for himself.
"Mr. President, I just feel that there are others who can take on this position; why must it be me?"
This was indeed what puzzled Lin Yi the most. The highest commander of the Armed Division was not solely Lin Yi's responsibility. As far as he knew, Lion City had several experts with Ten-Star Combat Power who were clearly more qualified for the role than he was!
"If you discovered a large-scale outbreak of Zombies right now, what would you do?" Li Xianzong took a delicate sip of tea, looking thoroughly pleased.
"Of course, I would feel compelled to slay those Zombies!" Lin Yi set down his teacup. The taste of the black tea was a bit overwhelming; he wasn't quite used to it yet.
"Well then, let me tell you that a new batch of Zombies has appeared in Asia. They haven't developed into a significant threat yet, but the situation is spreading," Li Xianzong continued to sip his tea, seemingly unfazed as if discussing something quite ordinary.
"That's impossible! I can't be missing any intel!" Lin Yi exclaimed instinctively. He had been closely monitoring the latest developments regarding Zombies; he would know if there were any sightings.
"There are always things you don't know. No matter how powerful your intelligence network is, some people can still evade your watchful eyes!" Li Xianzong glanced at Lin Yi before returning to his tea.
"Some people? Are you implying that these Zombies were artificially created?" Lin Yi was no fool; he immediately sensed something unusual in Li Xianzong's words.
"You should already know a bit about the origins of the Zombie Virus. It was originally man-made. As long as they are still around, the Zombie Virus can easily resurface!" Li Xianzong smiled mysteriously, gently placing his teacup down and slowly walking toward the balcony.
"So where is there a large-scale appearance of Zombies now?" Lin Yi stood up, astonished; it seemed those people had not been eradicated after all!
"In Australia!" Li Xianzong pronounced each word carefully, his expression turning more serious than ever.
