Looking at his mother’s face marked by deep crow's feet at the corners of her eyes, Lin Yi felt a pang of emotion and smiled softly. "I understand, Mom."
With that, Lin Yi quickly walked over. He didn't want to use his lightning-fast speed; being home made him feel like an ordinary person and still his parents' son.
The two entered the adjacent room where Lin Qiweng was no longer present. Only Lin Yi's father sat on the sofa, gazing at the newly developed wedding photos with a silly grin.
"Old Lin, your son is here! Just say what you need to," Lin Yi's mother called out to Lin Father before gently stepping out and closing the door behind her.
"Lin Yi, you're getting married soon. How do you feel?" A smile appeared on Lin Father's face, revealing the cautious nature typical of a businessman.
Hearing such a question from his father left Lin Yi momentarily speechless. He had known Li Qiweng for a long time; their relationship seemed to have developed naturally without any particular feelings attached.
"If there’s really any special feeling, it’s that I truly feel like a man now, and I must take on more responsibility than before!" Lin Yi scratched his head, feeling a bit shy.
Before, his relationship with Li Qiweng was merely that of a couple, but now they had truly become a family, and he needed to shoulder his responsibilities for this newly formed household.
"Alright, since you understand the responsibilities of a man. Let me ask you, are you willing to take on the role of Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces in Lion City?" Lin Father suddenly sat up straight, looking serious as he asked.
"Commander? What do you mean?" Lin Yi was taken aback; with the zombies gone, what did he need to be a commander for?
"This matter was personally discussed with me by your Future Father-in-Law last night. He was worried you might refuse outright, so he asked me to bring it up first. Soon there will be an appointment in the council; it all depends on whether you agree or not!"
At this point, Lin Father patted the still-dazed Lin Yi and said, "The engagement ceremony is about to start; think this over carefully."

"Boss, Sister-in-law has been waiting for you for half an hour! If you don’t go down soon, she’s going to come up and pull your ear!" David grinned widely, his bright white teeth glinting slightly.
