Three days later, the results of the second quarter Mercenary King competition were announced. However, Lin Yi not only failed to secure the top points in all battle zones, but he also placed second in the Australia War Zone.
This was largely due to Lin Yi’s singular focus in the Australia War Zone, which was to attract millions of Zombies to the Victoria Desert. While his Mercenary group managed to slay hundreds of thousands of Zombies, most of them were merely ordinary Zombies. The first place in the Australia War Zone went to Wang Zijun and her Pacific Mercenary Corps, who ranked second overall across all battle zones!
The overall first place in the combined scores across all battle zones was still held by Ying Sa and her Bloodthirsty Mercenary Group, although she was stationed in the South America war zone this quarter!
Faced with the formidable military power of Washington, the Zombies struggled to breach its defenses. Instead, they launched direct attacks on the South America War Zone, which was already in a precarious situation. Under the relentless assault of the Zombies, most of the Exiled Government had to rely on the protection of Washington, huddling along its borders to survive.
The arrival of Ying Sa injected a dose of vitality into South America, significantly bolstering their resolve to resist! Her targeted hunts for High-Level Zombies also greatly alleviated the panic faced by South America against these formidable foes.
In just three months, Ying Sa’s presence seemed to herald a new spring for the South America War Zone. Even the reputation of Lin Yi, the so-called National Hero, was beginning to be overshadowed by her. Some eager observers even began comparing the two, speculating that they might be married based on snippets of information they gathered.
Such rumors reached Lin Yi through various channels, but he knew better than to take them seriously; it would be childish to do so.
Meanwhile, in the African War Zone, his division, led by Sean Roman, achieved remarkable results, securing first place. However, this could only be counted as a success for that division.
As the absolute leader of the Blood Envoy Mercenary Corps, it was only natural for him to be awarded the title of quarterly Mercenary King for the African War Zone. This led to an unusual phenomenon in this competition: while fighting in the Pacific Theater, he received recognition as the Mercenary King for the African Region.
Having carefully crafted his image as a hero, Lin Yi had done well enough that neither the Mercenary Alliance nor any major battle zones raised objections to this outcome. He successfully claimed two titles as a result.
Next, Lin Yi decided to lead all members directly to the competition area in South America. After all, there were far more Zombies there, making it easier to quickly accumulate points!

The entire Blood Envoy Mercenary Corps was fully equipped; even those with the weakest combat abilities reached a strength level of at least Three-Star.
Such combat power would be welcomed wherever it went. Even before they set off, promotional efforts in the South America War Zone were already in full swing, with everyone eagerly anticipating the arrival of this hero who could turn the tide!
The three rented transmitters were solely used for transporting various weapons and equipment purchased by the Blood Envoy Mercenary Corps. The most concentrated area of zombies was in the Amazon Rainforest, a place with complex terrain. To escape the carpet bombing from Washington, many zombies had taken refuge in the rainforest, while others scattered to different locations, seizing every opportunity to devour humans.
Lin Yi decided to tackle the toughest challenge head-on and plunged directly into the Amazon Rainforest. Here, towering trees loomed everywhere, swamps emitted toxic mists, and countless tropical insects and fierce beasts lurked.
This was a stronghold for zombies, yet it was undeniably a forbidden zone for humans. Nevertheless, Lin Yi pressed on, facing hardships that outsiders could hardly comprehend.
Meanwhile, Washington's command center had three satellites monitoring the zombie situation in the Amazon. The dense red dots represented the omnipresent zombies.
Upon Lin Yi's arrival in the Amazon Rainforest, his surroundings became a no-go zone for zombies; within a twenty-kilometer radius around him, all zombies were eradicated. According to incomplete statistics, Lin Yi's forces had killed no fewer than two hundred thousand zombies!
As for how this was accomplished, no one outside the situation knew for sure. However, Washington broadcasted this news globally, prompting cheers from around the world.
With such favorable news continuously spreading, it seemed that wherever Lin Yi went, zombies were slaughtered. Yet observant individuals noted that as Lin Yi's forces ventured deeper into the Amazon, at least three crimson beams of light descended from above.
These beams indicated the firing of Base Laser Cannons—an invaluable resource that ordinary people could hardly access!
All of this was part of Lin Yi's preparations to combat high-level zombies. Although he could eliminate Nine-Star Zombies, if several attacked him simultaneously, he would have no choice but to retreat.
In the blink of an eye, more than half of the third quarter of Mercenary King had passed, and Lin Yi finally emerged from the Amazon Rainforest.
When Lin Yi and his team exited, they were greeted not by a horde of zombies but by a crowd cheering incessantly. Whether ordinary citizens or high-ranking dignitaries, everyone appeared before Lin Yi. Their only response was to shower praises upon the Blood Envoy Mercenary Corps and their leader, the Uncrowned King.

Although they expended vast amounts of weapons and ammunition and suffered personnel casualties, they achieved a decisive victory that lifted the oppressive atmosphere over the South American War Zone. While some criticized Lin Yi's forces for severely damaging the rainforest, survival took precedence over such concerns!
After two months of battle results, the Blood Envoy Mercenary Corps became the highest-scoring mercenary group in the South American War Zone, even surpassing the Bloodthirsty Mercenary Group that specialized in hunting high-level mercenaries! However, overall scores still showed that Lin Yi's forces lagged behind somewhat.
It should be noted that a Nine-Star Combat Power zombie was worth more than twenty thousand ordinary zombies. While Lin Yi's team had indeed slain numerous Nine-Star Combat Power zombies, they did so with the aid of Base Laser Cannons; thus those kills did not count towards their score.
After more than two months of continuous combat, all members of the Blood Envoy Mercenary Corps were utterly exhausted. The moment they emerged from the Amazon, every member fell asleep for three straight nights before waking up. During this time, everyone feared that these brave warriors might perish and constantly checked on their vital signs.
After the tenth round, the results of the third quarter's Mercenary King competition were announced, and Blood Envoy undeniably claimed the top spot! However, Lin Yi did not see Ying Sa at the awards ceremony, as she was still leading her formidable team in sweeping through the Zombie Army.
At this moment, Blood Envoy and Bloodthirsty Mercenary Group were essentially neck and neck, with either team having the potential to emerge as the ultimate victor! Originally, thousands of mercenary teams had participated in the competition, but now all attention was focused on these two groups.
The final quarter of the competition began without any delays, but due to a significant reduction in zombies across various regions, many City Defense Forces were now able to shift their focus to attacking zombies. Competition was fierce everywhere! In other words, there were not enough zombies left to kill!
The Mercenary King Selection Committee ultimately decided that the fourth quarter would have no restrictions on competition zones. After the time was up, they would evaluate the year-end Mercenary King based on points!
As a result, air traffic became incredibly busy as mercenary teams fought hard for good rankings. Competent mercenaries desperately hunted zombies; wherever zombies appeared, large numbers of mercenaries would swarm in.
To secure victory, Lin Yi directly formed a Hundred-Man Squad with a minimum combat power of Six-Star. Although this team's overall strength still fell short of Bloodthirsty Mercenary Group, it was not too far behind. Additionally, other members of Blood Envoy were globally exterminating zombies, accumulating points at a terrifying speed.
However, this did not mean that only Lin Yi was strategizing; Bloodthirsty Mercenary Group was not standing still either. In the last ten rounds of the Mercenary King competition, ten Super Experts with Nine-Star Combat Power suddenly joined their ranks!
Thus, Bloodthirsty Mercenary Group focused almost exclusively on besieging zombies at Eight-Star Level and above, causing their scores to rise rapidly!
Points in the competition were calculated proportionally. Even though Blood Envoy Mercenary Corps had more members and had slain a considerable number of zombies, their average score still could not surpass that of Bloodthirsty Mercenary Group.
In the final ten rounds, Lin Yi tried every possible method to enhance his team members' combat power, even spending a fortune to purchase high-quality Potential Gene Drugs from Washington. Unfortunately, time was not on his side, and there remained a certain gap between the two sides!
