The aura was unmistakably that of Nine-Star Combat Power, and it was clearly aimed specifically at Lin Yi! Although Lin Yi had experience in slaying Nine-Star Level Zombies, the presence of this particular Zombie was evidently much stronger, leaving Lin Yi with no confidence whatsoever.
While there were human experts with Nine-Star Combat Power among the accompanying troops, Lin Yi, as the acting Commander, had yet to see any evidence of their existence. He certainly wasn't willing to gamble with his life.
"Sir, this isn't quite Extreme Danger!" Black Swift quickly assessed the situation. Compared to previous encounters, Lin Yi seemed doomed to fail, but now he felt capable of handling it.
Lin Yi nodded and immediately blurred into motion, retreating explosively toward an open area. Utilizing the Single Crystal Combat Blade, he had no idea what kind of destructive power he could unleash at full strength. He didn't want to accidentally harm his allies, so he proactively moved away.
The Nine-Star Zombie's expression was grave. As a true High-Level Combat Power Zombie, it recognized Lin Yi. At that moment, disregarding the unspoken rules of engagement between them and choosing to act personally stemmed from its fear that Lin Yi might continue to grow stronger and become a true nightmare for Zombies.
Now was clearly the best opportunity to swiftly eliminate Lin Yi with overwhelming force.
In an instant, the Nine-Star Zombie's figure flickered and vanished. When it reappeared, it was hovering directly above Lin Yi.
At that moment, Lin Yi suddenly sensed a sharp aura rushing toward his head. A wave of extreme danger washed over him before he could react. The jetpack on his War God Suit erupted with a burst of white vapor, propelling him backward like a bullet.
In the next moment, Lin Yi raised his arm and aimed his laser weapon at the Zombie that was changing its attack trajectory and charging toward him.
With a sharp sound, a blinding red beam shot forth and vanished in an instant. Then came a "thud" as the Laser Beam pierced straight through the Zombie's head!
However, that Zombie quickly dissipated into thin air!
It was merely an illusion! Lin Yi was astonished; his previous strike had been swift yet had failed to inflict any damage! While Nine-Star Level combat power was formidable, Lin Yi's own strength was already incredibly close to that level. With the aid of the Single Crystal Combat Blade, he felt empowered yet still posed no threat to this Zombie.
Suddenly, a piercing sound rang in Lin Yi's ears! By this time, it was too late for him to evade; he swung his Silver Soul Battle Blade with determination. Twisting his waist sharply, he brought down Silver Soul against the incoming weapon.
A crisp metallic slicing sound echoed as Lin Yi's Silver Soul Battle Blade effortlessly severed the weapon that had just been hurled at him.
At that moment, Lin Yi realized that his previous strike had actually cleaved a black metal rod, approximately two meters long and ten centimeters in diameter, in half!
Suddenly, a face more delicate than a woman's appeared before Lin Yi. However, his expression was filled with shock, as if he could hardly believe what was happening.
Thoughts raced through Lin Yi's mind. Could it be that after advancing to Nine-Star Level, Zombies transformed into such feminine-looking beings?
But soon after, the Zombie spoke softly, "To think you could easily sever a Black Gold Rod; your Silver Soul Battle Blade is definitely not forged in an ordinary way!"
Lin Yi was taken aback for a moment before responding, "Hmph, as long as I can kill you, that's all that matters!"
In the next instant, Lin Yi raised his hands above his head, and the Silver Soul Battle Blade named "Silver Soul" swung down toward the head of the Nine-Star Combat Power Zombie.
The startled Zombie was awakened by the fierce Blade Qi and let out a loud shout before disappearing completely.
Lin Yi's strike missed its target. He immediately unleashed his Psychic Power; nothing within a hundred-meter radius could escape his search!
Suddenly, he detected an energy fluctuation within his perception. Without regard for the momentum of his first strike, Lin Yi's arm swelled with power, and his previously handsome face twisted into a fierce snarl!
"Kill!" It was as if a roar from deep within his soul erupted from Lin Yi, reverberating like thunder across the battlefield!
In an instant, a solid Blade Qi surged forth from the Single Crystal Combat Blade in Lin Yi's hand. However, this solid Blade Qi was shorter than any he had unleashed before; even those nearby found it difficult to sense its energy fluctuations.
Just as time seemed to slow down, at the moment the Blade Qi appeared, the blinding white energy seemed to disregard the limits of time and space, instantly shifting twenty meters away!
At that moment, a dark figure entered the range of the Blade Qi—it was the Zombie with skin as pale as a woman's! At this point, any semblance of calmness had vanished; its once indifferent face was now twisted in fear.
The speed of Blade Qi seemed to surpass that of the Laser Beam. The Nine-Star Zombie had just appeared, leaving no time for it to evade. Suddenly, a bizarre scene unfolded; thick black smoke erupted around the Zombie, enveloping its entire body.
Lin Yi focused his Psychic Power to observe, but he discovered that within the black smoke, it seemed like another world had formed, and he could sense nothing at all.
"Bestow Unique Ability?" Lin Yi gasped softly as the Blade Qi completely vanished into the swirling black smoke. An astonishing wave of energy immediately radiated outward, and where the black mist and Blade Qi intertwined, it appeared as if a violent explosion had occurred.
Lin Yi was unsure of what was happening, but he knew that under normal circumstances, if his strike truly landed on the Zombie, this Nine-Star Zombie would have no escape from death!
Soon enough, Lin Yi saw the outcome. The Zombie remained suspended in mid-air, but its clothing had been almost entirely shredded by the Blade Qi. Its body, which had previously been almost human-like, was now charred black; clearly, while this strike might not have claimed its life, the damage was undeniable.
Suddenly, Lin Yi's eyelids twitched violently. The Zombie's expression shifted dramatically, and its aura seemed to surge upward in an instant. Lin Yi felt a strange wave of energy gathering toward the Zombie; evidently, it was replenishing the energy that had just dissipated through this bizarre method.
As the saying goes, "When one is in trouble, they will suffer." The previous strike had already consumed nearly a third of Lin Yi's energy, yet he still hadn't managed to slay the Zombie.
In just a moment, Lin Yi made his decision. His body suddenly expanded significantly; his arms grew as thick as an adult's thighs.
"Explode!" Lin Yi shouted with bloodshot eyes and flushed cheeks.
In the next instant, an even thicker Blade Qi surged forth. At this moment, the Zombie had only just begun to gather some of its power.
Just as Lin Yi's roar echoed through the air, the Blade Qi sliced down toward the Zombie's head!
"Roar—" The Zombie let out a furious howl as the already swift black mist rapidly converged toward its forehead!
However, it was clearly too late. A sizzling sound erupted as the black air currents melted away like white snow meeting fire.
The Zombie, unwilling to meet its end so easily, moved swiftly, the black energy swirling around it intensifying. Lin Yi noticed that strands of black mist were seeping forward from the creature, indicating that it was using its own energy to create a defensive barrier in an attempt to resist Lin Yi's Blade Qi.
Soon, Lin Yi realized that as the Nine-Star Zombie expelled its black mist at a rapid pace, its aura diminished significantly. The creature, which had already appeared almost indistinguishable from a human, began to shrivel and even rot away.
"Black, what do we do now?" The Zombie struggled desperately against Lin Yi's Blade Qi, but Lin Yi's previous strike had already drained nearly all of his strength, leaving him with little energy to deal with the Zombie.
"The last straw that breaks the camel's back!" Black said. Lin Yi's laser weapon had automatically activated in his hand, ready to unleash deadly Laser Beams at his command.
Lin Yi slapped his forehead; facing a High-Level Combat Power Zombie, ordinary weapons were ineffective. It was more about superior combat skills. In his focus on utilizing his own strength in battle, he had forgotten about the powerful weapons equipped in the War God Suit.
"Spin around, Black!" Lin Yi raised his arm, and the first Laser Beam shot forth. In the next moment, he changed direction and fired another Laser Beam.
The Zombie, exhausted from resisting Lin Yi's Blade Qi, clearly lacked the energy to evade the barrage of Laser Beams. Most of the time, it barely managed to dodge critical hits to its head!
Before long, its already charred body was riddled with horrifyingly large blackened holes—evidence of the Laser Beams' destructive power.
The Zombie's vitality and strength were rapidly waning. The black mist surrounding it could no longer withstand the overwhelming might of the Blade Qi, which had thinned down to a mere wisp.
Just as it seemed that the Blade Qi would cleave the Zombie in two, one of its arms suddenly exploded into a cloud of black mist, unexpectedly blocking the Blade Qi.
Lin Yi was taken aback by the Zombie's final burst of combat power. Gathering all his strength once more, he unleashed a thin Blade Qi imbued with destructive intent directly toward the Nine-Star Zombie's neck!
