The Zombies seemed to be frightened, as the City Defense Force and Mercenaries pressed forward. The eastern Defense Zone advanced smoothly for thirty-two kilometers in just three hours, completely eliminating over two hundred thousand Zombies in the Southern Defense Zone. Under the intimidation of three Nine-Star Combat Power experts, the highest level of Zombie combat power was merely at Eight-Star Level.
Lin Yi only occasionally took action; after all, as the Captain of the Mercenaries, he couldn't recklessly charge into the front lines. This was not only highly dangerous but also raised suspicions of stealing credit from his teammates. At this moment, Lin Yi's value was increasing, but most of his Contribution Points were “held” by Li Qiweng. But Charlie was an oddity; he believed he didn't need strong combat power and willingly hid behind women. However, War God Suits were prohibitively expensive—costing one hundred million Contribution Points each—and even if they could afford them, they were hard to come by. Although Lin Yi and his entire Mercenary Corps appeared wealthy with around two billion Contribution Points—half of which belonged to Lin Yi—he didn't mind those Contribution Points too much. Even if he spent them all, he could only purchase twenty suits.
Lin Yi didn't lament that his Mercenary Corps couldn't continue growing stronger. He understood that being prominent attracted attention; being exploited by Kofi was precisely because his strength had reached a level where it could be utilized.
The advance in the northern Defense Zone over a thirty-kilometer range became increasingly difficult due to the lack of other nations' forces restraining them and the resulting strength of the northern Zombies. This angered Darth significantly. Ultimately, he resorted to using stockpiled aerial bombs and deployed bombers for carpet bombing.
However, the Zombies clearly weren't willing to concede easily; they summoned a considerable army of Undead Birds to confront the bomber fleet head-on. In the end, out of over one hundred bombers sent out, only half returned; the rest were blocked by Undead Birds at their engine exhaust ports and ultimately crashed down.
Although the losses were severe, the entire Defense Zone expanded significantly under Darth's relentless push. The construction of the Defense Zone was now a pressing matter, and Lin Yi was called in to do the heavy lifting.
To build a more robust Quarantine Wall, the engineering team directly collected massive rocks from the mountains within the Defense Zone. As an eight Star Level expert with immense strength, Lin Yi was naturally assigned to transport the materials.
Though Lin Yi was reluctant at first, he soon realized that this work could actually enhance his own strength. This unexpected benefit was quite pleasing, and ultimately, he put in great effort to help transport the giant stones in order to accelerate his improvement.

Lin Yi picked it up and glanced at it. It was the United Morning Post from Lion City, and to his surprise, his full-body photo graced the front page. Beneath the picture was a caption that read: "The King of the Era, Humanity's New Hope."
The second and third pages were filled with detailed accounts of Lin Yi's achievements. However, he felt his face flush at all the praise written about him.
The article gave off the impression that Lin Yi had become a savior; with him around, there was hope for the world.
"Who wrote this?" Lin Yi scrutinized the author's name but found it unfamiliar.
"Hehe, are you happy, darling? There's more!" Li Qiweng said, then unfolded a display screen in mid-air.
Instantly, a flurry of newspaper images burst forth like moths to a flame. In each prominent spot on these images was Lin Yi's photo, and he was referred to as either "The Mercenary King" or "Humanity's Last Hope," even being directly called "The Savior!"
Peninsula News Agency, Reuters, Mirror News, The Times, and even Yomiuri Shimbun and Christian Science Monitor—these were not just any tabloids trying to grab attention with gimmicks. Yet here they were collectively reporting on a mercenary, all filled with praise.
Lin Yi was dumbfounded. During these days, he had been busy either fighting zombies or helping construct the Defense Zone, completely oblivious to what was happening outside. Although reporters had come to interview him several times, he rarely spoke up.

Li Qiweng began reading the letters published in the newspaper: "You are a true hero. If possible, I would willingly follow in your footsteps until death..."
"Enough, Wen! Don't you know I'm in a very dangerous situation right now?" Lin Yi shouted, interrupting Li Qiweng's voice.
Li Qiweng was startled by Lin Yi's shout, tears welling up in her eyes and then falling like scattered pearls.
"You’re scolding me? How could you scold me... Boohoo... Why are you being so harsh?" Li Qiweng looked at Lin Yi, her face full of grievance.
"Wen, I'm sorry, but I can't talk to you right now. The truth is, the more high-profile I am, the faster I might die. You wouldn't want that to happen, would you?"
Li Qiweng stopped her tears and asked with a serious expression, "What’s going on?"
Lin Yi's face showed signs of struggle, but he still spoke up: "The red cloth bag that Mr. Coffey left for me contains a message. He told me that the person who wants to kill me is already in the Addis Ababa Defense Zone!"
