The mist of blood seemed to scatter like stars across the galaxy, filling everyone's vision, yet this galaxy appeared chillingly ominous. At that moment, Lin Yi resembled a god of slaughter, ruthlessly butchering everything in sight, even as the blood had already stained him into the Blood Man.
The driver, a Mercenary, stared in shock at the dozens of Zombie Beasts that had vanished in an instant. No matter how much brutal training and real combat they had undergone, nothing could compare to the scene unfolding before them. Blood mixed with chunks of flesh was violently flung around by the rapidly spinning blades, leaving the walls on either side of the road covered in dense black spots, resembling a white sheet sprinkled with sesame seeds.
The nearly one hundred Zombie Beasts tasked with intercepting them seemed to have simultaneously fallen into a meat grinder. Before the blood had fully settled, those Zombie Beasts had already been shredded to pieces by the five blades controlled by Lin Yi. The ground was now a muddy mixture of blood and flesh.
"Move!" In just a few breaths, those Zombie Beasts had "disappeared." At this moment, everyone except Lin Yi was frozen in shock.
Lin Yi's roar instantly snapped everyone back to reality. The driving Mercenary immediately accelerated to maximum speed. In the next moment, Lin Yi transformed into a shadow of blood, appearing directly on top of the Transport Vehicle.
Despite the high speed, Lin Yi remained as steady as a rock, showing no signs of discomfort. The blood and remnants on him were blown away by the wind rushing towards him, creating a flowing stream of blood on the vehicle's roof.
"Pachy, Old Bai, Jian, have you all arrived?" Lin Yi looked towards the distant lights of their convoy, estimating that they should have returned.
"I'm here!"
"Good, stay alert!"
"Yes, Captain!"
Their responses quickly came through the earpiece, and Lin Yi let out a long sigh of relief. If there were any other issues from different directions, he would be powerless to help.
In less than ten kilometers and just a few minutes' time, they reached their destination. The arrowhead formation of vehicles was already set up, waiting for Lin Yi to depart. However, everyone was momentarily stunned at the sight of Lin Yi drenched in blood.
"Quick! Get the Serum! The Flower Cannon has been infected with the Zombie Virus!" Lin Yi jumped out of the vehicle and opened the door to dive inside.
As soon as Lin Yi entered, he froze. He had expected that Flower Cannon would be on the brink of Corpseification and ready to attack with a ferocious expression. However, in reality, Hai was using Divine Technique to help Flower Cannon heal.
At that moment, the dark energy on Flower Cannon's face was swirling restlessly, as if trying to break free from his skin. Despite his struggles, he could not succeed. The pain was evident on Flower Cannon's face due to the turmoil of the dark energy. Hai, drenched in sweat, pressed his palm against Flower Cannon's wound, exerting the Divine Technique with all his might. However, this Divine Technique felt different from the one that had just instantaneously annihilated dozens of Zombies; it appeared more gentle and sacred.
The healing had been ongoing for over a minute, and there were no signs of Flower Cannon continuing with Corpseification. Lin Yi dared not interrupt and merely signaled for the others to drive the vehicle next to the command car.
From the moment they discovered the Zombie Beasts attacking until everyone regrouped, less than ten minutes had passed. Now, the Zombie Beasts were already charging toward Lin Yi and his team in massive numbers.
"Everyone! Use maximum firepower to charge forward!" Lin Yi's command vehicle was equipped with over ten rockets just in case, but it wasn't yet the most critical moment, so he held off on using them.
Their most effective weapons at this point were submachine guns and individual Laser Guns, but neither could achieve large-scale extermination. Fortunately, the number of Zombie Beasts directly facing them wasn't overwhelming; under a barrage from thousands of shooters, those Zombie Beasts were nearly slaughtered.
The sound of gunfire echoed across the fields. Lin Yi watched in anger as his painstakingly established stronghold was about to turn into ruins. His command vehicle was at the forefront, bearing the brunt of the pressure. Occasionally, a Zombie Beast would break through their firepower net and crash against the windshield of the command vehicle like a moth drawn to a flame.
Lin Yi's back was drenched in cold sweat mixed with the foul stench of blood, an unbearable odor. His mind was racing; where did these Zombie Beasts come from? And how did those Zombies manage to command such a large-scale assault of Zombie Beasts to approach their defensive perimeter? It seemed they were becoming increasingly human-like in their tactics.
"Roar!" Another Zombie Beast broke through the firepower net and was about to collide with the vehicle. Lin Yi instinctively wielded Silver Soul and struck at its head.
With a "slice," the Zombie Beast was cleaved in two, blood spraying onto the windshield with a splatter.
Lin Yi was furious at such scenes but felt helpless as he quickly tapped on the virtual screen, trying to assess how many Zombie Beasts were surrounding them! Upon checking, Lin Yi's scalp tingled; by his rough estimate, there were at least several thousand Zombie Beasts attacking from all directions!
How could so many Zombie Beasts appear out of nowhere? The Satellites responsible for monitoring the defense line would never allow such a large gathering of Zombies! Lin Yi pondered for a while but couldn't make sense of it; he had no choice but to contact Bruh, who should have enough strength to understand what was happening.
However, several minutes later, Bruh casually replied that he had no idea! If it weren't for Ying Sa's sake, Lin Yi would have been tempted to curse him out.
"Then may I ask if those who came to change shifts have already set off?" At this moment, Lin Yi was utterly disappointed in Bruh. Was everything that had happened before just an act? Yet they had indeed provided Lin Yi with considerable benefits.
Moreover, as a member of the Mercenary Corps, Lin Yi had no reason to refuse such a mission. What was more important now was to figure out where these Zombie Beasts had come from, as if they had suddenly emerged from the ground.

"Hello, is this Colonel Logan's unit?" The one responsible for contacting them was Ouyang Shasha. Lin Yi's combat mission was heavy, and Ouyang Shasha's transparency technique clearly had little effect at this moment.
After a moment of silence on the other end, a voice finally responded, "Yes, may I ask which unit this is..."
"We are the Blood Envoy Mercenary Corps here to relieve you. We encountered thousands of Zombie Beasts and need your cooperation to eliminate them!" Ouyang Shasha's voice was sweet yet carried a hint of seduction; any normal man hearing it would likely feel weak in the knees.
There was a brief silence before someone breathlessly replied, "We have already set off; Colonel Logan requests that you continue to eliminate them!"
Although most of Lin Yi's focus was on taking down any remaining threats, he still caught the response from the other side and sensed something was amiss. Just as he gestured for Ouyang Shasha to continue, the connection was abruptly cut off!
"Lin Yi, something's wrong!" Pachy, who had been firing his submachine gun at the shooting port, suddenly shouted. Clearly, he too had sensed that something was off!
At that moment, Ouyang Shasha exclaimed, "There's a signal forcefully coming through; it seems like they want to contact us!"
"Take it!" Lin Yi frowned but dared not relax even slightly.
"This is Death's Call City; we are surrounded by tens of thousands of Zombie Beasts! We request your support!" The urgency in the voice on the other end indicated that their situation had become extremely perilous.
"Who are you?" Ouyang Shasha asked instinctively, her face paling.
“Golden Mercenary Corps Milan Branch! I am Commander Beatrice!” the other party replied breathlessly.
Beatrice? Golden Mercenary Corps? Were they also surrounded? Lin Yi's mind was racing. The Golden Mercenary Corps had armored vehicles, yet they were now in crisis. The number of Zombie Beasts must be significant. But why was there no movement from the Milan Defense Zone? Were they just going to watch as mercenaries like them perished?
“Captain! We might only be able to rely on ourselves!” Big Ears Ero suddenly changed color and stumbled over to Lin Yi.
After slashing a Zombie Beast, Lin Yi asked, “What did you hear?”
“I just heard that Colonel Logan and the others have returned to the city because the Defense Zone has detected a large-scale invasion of Zombies. They are using artillery fire for cover!” Ero said, growing more terrified, beads of sweat dripping down his face.
“Are they planning for us to perish along with these Zombie Beasts!?” Lin Yi's heart raced. He never imagined that after risking his life to clear out the Zombies, he would end up facing annihilation alongside them!
“What? They dare to plot against us, the Golden Mercenary Corps! Quickly deploy the reserve air squadron!” Ouyang Shasha, still connected, heard Ero's voice and couldn't help but explode in fury.
Just as Lin Yi was about to inquire about their situation, the communication device emitted a busy signal. In that moment, everyone felt as if they had plunged into an endless hell. No matter how capable they were, what hope of survival could they have under such concentrated artillery fire?
“Full speed ahead! The closer we are to the city wall, the better!” Lin Yi, unwilling to become a casualty in this conflict, refused to give up easily.
Suddenly, Ero collapsed to the ground, murmuring, “They have entered a ten-second countdown. In ten seconds, the Missile will strike.”
Though Ero's voice was quiet, it sounded like thunder in everyone's ears at that moment.
