The sound of clashing metal echoed as Lin Yi surged forward, closing the distance to the black hand by just an arm's length. At that moment, the first Silver Soul collided with the black palm, but the second Silver Soul was already following closely behind. Without a second thought, Lin Yi maneuvered the second Silver Soul to evade the black hand's obstruction and aimed it directly at Benito.
With a rush, Lin Yi felt a blur as the speeding Silver Soul unexpectedly missed its target! In an instant, Benito vanished from Lin Yi's sight without a trace or sound. A wave of panic washed over Lin Yi; although he had witnessed Benito's transparent ability before, he never anticipated that he could disappear right before his eyes so completely. Just as Lin Yi was momentarily stunned, a fierce wind howled toward him.
Cold sweat instantly drenched Lin Yi's back as he pushed off the ground and retreated rapidly. In that fleeting moment, he truly felt the presence of death looming over him. He was not like Number 19, with an invulnerable body; if that claw had struck him directly, it would have spelled disaster.
The two Silver Souls followed closely as Lin Yi retreated, forming a protective barrier on either side to guard against surprise attacks. It was only then that Lin Yi fully saw the figure behind the black hand—a strange person cloaked entirely in black robes. The black-robed figure faced Lin Yi, its dark palm glinting with long, sharp nails. The palm was covered in black hair, entirely unlike anything human.
Suddenly, Lin Yi felt a chill behind him, sending a shiver down his spine. An eerie sensation surged within him. The previously motionless Silver Soul began to spin rapidly, creating a silver barrier that tightly enveloped him. After continuous battles, Lin Yi had mastered his control over psychic energy to an extraordinary degree. However, compared to Douglas, who specialized in psychic abilities, his Psychic Power still had room for growth.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Clanging sounds erupted around Lin Yi, piercing his ears and making him feel nauseous. Yet he steadied his mind, refusing to relax for even a moment. He knew that if his Silver Soul stopped spinning, it would be the moment when the enemy's claws would strike him down. Lin Yi couldn't help but marvel at how easily this opponent could threaten him with just their hands.
The shadow outside moved swiftly, and for a moment, Lin Yi found himself at a loss for how to counter it. The opponent's speed was astonishing; even he could only rely on his psychic energy for defense—attempting to catch up felt utterly futile.
Everything transpired in an instant; Lin Yi and his opponent exchanged several blows. At this point, Taishan and the others had arrived, but they were unsure where to aim their guns at the constantly shifting shadow.
"Boss, hang in there!" Douglas shouted as he controlled five flying knives toward the shadow. During Lin Yi's months of unconsciousness, Douglas had made significant progress; he could now perfectly control five flying knives without losing power.
The five flying knives darted through the air like swordfish in the sea and quickly approached the shadow. Sensing an impending danger from the sound of sonic booms in the void around him, the shadow realized it needed to evade. Although speed was its forte, it recognized that Lin Yi's Psychic Power was formidable and had no choice but to retreat.
The shadow avoided attacking Lin Yi directly and did not attempt to breach his silver barrier any further. Just then, the five silver knives closed in and seemed poised to pierce through the shadow's chest.
At that moment, something bizarre occurred: the shadow’s crossed claws transformed into an illusion as they blocked the path of the approaching silver knives.
With a series of clashing sounds echoing through the air, the five flying knives were halted by an invisible wall and could not advance any further. Douglas’s attacks were always relentless and unyielding; yet now he faced an obstacle just like Lin Yi had. Suddenly fixated on his flying knives, Douglas’s eyes sparkled with determination as he realized what was at stake.
The five flying daggers of Silver Soul suddenly halted in their tracks, but in the next moment, they split into five directions. A dagger appeared in front of the shadow, as well as on either side and even one hovering above, glinting with a cold light.
The shadow realized that he was in a precarious situation; at this moment, he had no way to retreat in any direction. However, this did not faze him. While the daggers blocked his five paths, it was impossible to seal off all directions completely. With just a moment's hesitation, he pushed off the ground with his toes and transformed into a ghostly figure, shooting through the gap between the daggers.
Suddenly, the shadow sensed a fierce killing intent rushing toward his head. He felt that if he did not dodge, his skull might explode from the force. Having just reached his peak speed, he had no time to evade and could only raise his palm to meet the oncoming threat.
A dull thud echoed through the air. The sound was not harsh at all, yet it exploded like thunder in his ears, causing his internal organs to tremble slightly.
Indeed, that punch had been thrown by Lin Yi at the moment the shadow was caught off guard. He had not anticipated that his opponent would possess such strength; not only were their nails sharp and keen like steel blades, but their fists felt as solid as wrought iron. After Lin Yi's punch connected, he felt a jarring force that made his fingers ache as if they might break.
"Hmph, no one has ever been able to match my speed!" The shadow scoffed, revealing himself to be a young man.
Lin Yi clicked his tongue inwardly; it seemed that his opponent was a mutant, otherwise how could he possess such terrifying speed and incredible strength? However, he could not afford to back down now. If he allowed someone like this to escape, he would have to live in constant fear from then on. Lin Yi was not one to shy away from danger; he needed to eliminate anyone who posed a threat to him.
With Lin Yi's control, Silver Soul instantly returned to his hand. Since his opponent's physical strength was formidable, he certainly would not foolishly engage in a direct confrontation; he was not so stubborn.
With a flash of silver light, Lin Yi thrust Silver Soul straight toward his opponent. In that brief moment, Lin Yi and Douglas had already conferred; Douglas would block the opponent's path while Lin Yi would entangle him!
This was not their first collaboration, so they were well-coordinated. However, the shadow was no lamb for slaughter; seeing Silver Soul approaching, he showed no intention of retreating. Instead, he swiftly raised his palm and aligned his fingertips toward Silver Soul for impact.
A sound akin to Dragon's Roar erupted as their forces collided! Silver Soul trembled from the impact and emitted a humming sound. The vibrating force also caused Lin Yi's arm to tingle slightly; he nearly lost grip on the hilt.
Lin Yi dared not let down his guard for an instant; with his left hand still holding the dagger, he continued to strike forward. Yet this time he lacked the confidence from before; this young man in black robes was clearly not easy to deal with.
As Lin Yi expected, after swinging with his left hand, the shadow simply sidestepped out of the way. Lin Yi's movements could not keep up with his opponent's speed; facing direct attacks without sufficient strength meant defeat was inevitable. However, in an instant, he resolved to change tactics—he could not clash head-on with someone whose strengths far exceeded his own!
Lin Yi slashed through the air with his left hand, then suddenly retreated a few steps. The five flying daggers that had been circling around the cloaked figure shot toward their target from five different directions the moment Lin Yi withdrew.
The cloaked figure had just been attacked by Lin Yi, and no matter how fast he was, he needed some reaction time. By the time he realized what was happening, the five daggers were already less than fifty centimeters away from him. At this distance, a dagger controlled by mental power could reach its target in a millisecond.
With a swift motion, the cloaked figure spun around, his black robe swirling around him. To everyone’s astonishment, it seemed as if a whirlwind had suddenly formed around him, pulling the approaching daggers into its dark vortex.
In just a blink of an eye, the originally glimmering daggers were entangled within the black robe. It was unclear what material the robe was made of, but despite the daggers thrashing about inside, they could not tear through it. Douglas's forehead was beaded with sweat; it was evident that he was exerting all his strength.
With a decisive move, the cloaked figure threw his swirling robe aside. Although Douglas's daggers could not pierce his clothing for now, he wouldn't be able to hold out forever.
“Douglas! Catch!” Lin Yi called out without paying attention to the floating Silver Soul before him and tossed two identical blades bound to his legs over to Douglas.
The previously lifeless blades became agile as soon as Douglas took control of them. Without any hesitation, as soon as the cloaked figure threw out his robe, Douglas directed the two blades toward him.
The cloaked figure staggered back repeatedly, but Lin Yi would not let such a good opportunity slip away. Without a second thought, he commanded Silver Soul to shoot forward. However, the cloaked figure was not easy prey; seeing silver flashes coming from both directions, he would not allow himself to be easily cut down.
Just as the blades were about to pierce through the cloaked figure's chest, he caught their tips with both hands and forcefully swung them back toward Silver Soul! Lin Yi's heart raced as he noticed blood streaming from the cloaked figure's palms; clearly, Douglas's earlier daggers had inflicted some damage. Yet this person showed no hesitation and used his injured hands to block Lin Yi's attack.
“Taishan! It's your turn!” Lin Yi felt Silver Soul lose control for a moment, a sharp pain shooting through his mind. Nevertheless, he suppressed the dizziness and called out to Taishan; he knew this opponent was formidable.
