Regardless of whether it was incomprehensible, these events unfolded without warning. Just as Lin Yi subdued the two burly men in front of him, one of the remaining seven or eight reacted quickly and swung his fist in an attempt to ambush Lin Yi. However, this scene appeared somewhat ridiculous to Lin Yi; although the man was very close, he felt no urgency at all.
The two burly men who had their fingers crushed by Lin Yi were lifted up and hurled towards the others with a powerful throw. The man who had intended to attack Lin Yi was caught off guard by this sudden assault, and before he could react, he was knocked away by the flying body.
"Great!" The newly arrived Witerson II shouted in unison, cheering for their Captain. They had only been delayed by less than ten seconds, yet Lin Yi had already taken down seven or eight of the ten opponents.
Seeing how Lin Yi had injured two of their own in an instant, while six others lay groaning on the ground, unable to get up, the remaining two were at a loss for what to do. They were used to bullying others into submission and never expected to encounter someone so formidable who would decisively show them their place.
"Who are you? Why are you attacking us?" one of them asked, pointing at Lin Yi while backing away.
Lin Yi stared at them, stepping forward deliberately but not answering their question—perhaps he simply didn't want to. At that moment, he just wanted to vent his anger, and if they were willing to engage him, he had no objections.
"You hurt our brother; naturally, we have to retaliate!" Jerry exclaimed angrily upon seeing Tony curled up on the ground.
Witerson II quickly signaled Douglas to help him with Tony. However, Tony's injuries seemed serious; when they gently assisted him, he winced in pain.
"Just wait! Our leader will throw you into the river!" The two remaining burly men could no longer withstand Lin Yi's intimidating presence and hurriedly turned to flee.
At that moment, something astonishing happened. As those two attempted to escape, Lin Yi's figure seemed to vanish into thin air. Overwhelmed by fear, they didn't even think to utter their last threats before turning and running toward the hall.
With a loud thud, they felt as if they had collided with a steel wall when they turned around; their heads buzzed from the impact.
As their consciousness returned, they looked up in terror to see Lin Yi towering over them like a mountain. At that moment, this mountain smiled eerily and then kicked them with a speed beyond human capability.
The two men were sent soaring into the air like deflated balls. Even then, Lin Yi seemed unwilling to let them off lightly; just as they were about to land, he swiftly followed up with two more kicks. They flew up again and crashed into the chandelier hanging from the ceiling, scattering crystals everywhere.
With two dull thuds, they finally fell back down and made intimate contact with the ground. Compared to their fallen companions, they were in a far worse state—barely breathing.
At this point, Lin Yi had vented much of his anger; his earlier violent emotions were now tempered by reason. He understood that they were in a foreign land and needed to keep a low profile. However, witnessing those men beat up Tony had infuriated him deeply—a protective instinct ignited his rage.
"Let's go!" Lin Yi waved his hand commandingly for everyone to return. In less than a minute's time, he had avenged Tony; that sense of accomplishment was unmistakable.
"No one has ever caused trouble on my turf and walked away unscathed." Just as Lin Yi turned around, the side door of the hall suddenly swung open, revealing a lean man stepping out, followed closely by several armed men in black.
Lin Yi sensed the threat behind him but did not turn back; he simply gestured for everyone to leave.
A sharp gunshot echoed through the spacious hall, startling everyone who was caught off guard by the sound.
Panic surged among the crowd as they quickly glanced around to see who had been hit. In that moment, they turned back to witness Lin Yi leaning backward at an odd angle, yet he did not fall.
Scorpion, who had fired the shot, felt a sense of satisfaction at his decisiveness. However, that feeling was short-lived as he was stunned by what unfolded before him. Just a second ago, he had decided to teach Lin Yi a lesson and leave a bullet mark on him. Confident in his aim, he hadn’t worried about causing any fatalities or attracting trouble—though he believed he could handle any ensuing issues. But now, there was no chance for him to find trouble; a flurry of thoughts raced through his mind. Especially when the information he had dismissed as a joke suddenly took center stage in his mind, he couldn’t help but shake his head in disbelief.
"I’m not someone who likes to seek trouble. Even when trouble comes my way, I always keep my distance." After dodging the deadly bullet, Lin Yi calmly addressed the man who called himself Scorpion.
Witerson II and the others were well aware of their captain's abilities and quickly urged everyone else to retreat upon seeing Lin Yi about to explode with anger.
"But unfortunately, I'm in a bad mood right now, so this time I’m going to deal with this trouble!" Before his words had fully left his mouth, Lin Yi transformed into a blur and dashed toward Scorpion and his men.
"Open fire! Open fire!" Scorpion had seen enough bloodshed to maintain some composure despite his fear. He ordered his men to retaliate.
Instantly, gunfire erupted throughout the hall. In such circumstances, an ordinary person would be turned into a sieve within moments. But unfortunately for Scorpion and his men, Lin Yi was no ordinary person. To him, the bullets that appeared almost invisible to the naked eye were like paper airplanes gliding slowly through the air. Despite their numbers, Lin Yi effortlessly dodged them all.
The distance between both sides was only seven or eight meters; even an average person could cover that in two or three seconds. For Lin Yi, it took less than the blink of an eye to reach them.
With a series of dull thuds echoing through the hall, those once imposing men in black were sent flying into the air by Lin Yi’s powerful punches as if they were weightless cotton. In that moment, Lin Yi felt as if he had returned to when he was surrounded by zombies after taking the Potential Gene Drug—savoring the exhilarating rush of slaughtering foes. However, these men were merely a dozen strong and could not compare to the vast horde of zombies.
In less than three seconds, Lin Yi had dispatched those formidable opponents that would have seemed overwhelming to an ordinary person. The very Scorpion who had just shot at him found himself kicked against a railing and pinned there, bloodied but too terrified to make a sound for fear of drawing attention from that terrifying being.
Lin Yi dusted off his hands and turned to leave, completely unaware that he had already exhibited strength far beyond that of an ordinary human without even taking the Gene Drug.
"Boss, there's one more thing I need your help with!" Just then, Tony stumbled back into the room, leaning against the wall with exhaustion as he spoke weakly to Lin Yi.
"I came here to pick Lulu up; she's still being held by those guys. I hope Captain can help rescue her too."
“Lulu, who is she?” Lin Yi asked, his face filled with confusion. He didn’t remember anyone like that in his mercenary group.
Tony smiled a bit sheepishly, blood oozing from the corner of his mouth due to his injuries. “My wife!”
“Since when did you have a wife here?” Lin Yi looked even more puzzled.
“Captain, she’s just a lover he met here. He insists on marrying her without considering his own capabilities!” Witerson II chimed in as he walked in, sounding frustrated.
Before Lin Yi could ask anything further, Tony’s expression suddenly changed. His eyes widened in horror as he stared behind Lin Yi.
Lin Yi sensed something was wrong and turned around to see a mixed-race woman with a hint of allure being held at knife-point by a bald man. The woman was too frightened to make a sound, her eyes fixed on Tony, filled with desperation.
“Don’t hurt Lulu!” Tony reached out a hand, trying to save the woman he loved. However, due to his severe injuries, this movement caused him to lose his balance and fall to the ground.
At that moment, Scorpion had been pulled up from the railing by several black-clad men who had just appeared. They stood on the second floor, looking at Lin Yi and the others with lingering fear.
“Scorpion, what kind of job are you doing? A group of armed men can’t even handle a few unarmed people!” The bald man fumed as he watched his subordinates curled up on the ground, unable to move.
Scorpion didn’t know what to do; he was now terrified and had lost his previous arrogance in front of Lin Yi. But the bald man was not someone to be trifled with—after all, he was the true mastermind behind everything.
