The sun in the sky was partially obscured by drifting white clouds, and the air in Paris, freshly washed by a light rain, carried a refreshing and calming scent. At this moment, the city was devoid of the restless energy typical of late spring and early summer; the streets were imbued with a gentle laziness. Although the Zombie crisis had spread globally, Parisians remained remarkably unperturbed, their inherent romance and sophistication preventing them from losing their composure. 0

Lin Yi felt somewhat dazed. The streets of Paris, while not as bustling as he had imagined, displayed an astonishing ease on people's faces. Of course, this was just a fleeting moment of distraction; he was weighed down by more pressing matters. Li Qiweng was still missing, his own body had issues, and the doctor had treated him in a rather unprofessional manner. 0

A large group walking down the street certainly attracted attention, but fortunately, they had prepared a Minibus. Once everyone boarded, Lin Yi absentmindedly asked, "Did you find anything later?" 0

His question seemed out of context, but most people quickly understood and exchanged glances, unsure how to respond. After a few minutes of awkward silence in the vehicle, Pachy finally spoke up: "The situation was particularly urgent at that time; we focused solely on getting you to the hospital. Later, we sought military assistance to search along the coast again, but by then the entire island had already been overrun by Zombies, making the search quite difficult." 0

Upon hearing Pachy's response, everyone expected Lin Yi to be upset. To their surprise, he merely waved his hand expressionlessly, signaling the driver to head back. Ika, sensing the tense atmosphere, moved to sit beside Lin Yi and said softly, "Mr. Li Qiweng is still alive." 0

"Is that true?" Lin Yi exclaimed as if grasping at a lifeline, gripping Ika's shoulders tightly with wide eyes. 0

Ika's face flushed instantly; her lips quivered as she managed to squeeze out a few words through gritted teeth: "It hurts... it hurts..." Her strength waned with each word. 0

Realizing he had overstepped, Lin Yi quickly withdrew his hands and continued to stare at Ika. 0

Ika winced as she gently rubbed her shoulders and continued, "I heard from my dad that when Mr. Li learned about Qiweng's incident, he appeared very calm and insisted that she would be fine." 0

Although Lin Yi found it hard to believe this was true, if even Mr. Li thought everything would be alright, then there was indeed a strong possibility that Li Qiweng was alive. 0

"Then why can't we find Wen now?" Lin Yi pressed on. 0

"I don't know; if Mr. Li doesn't know either, then naturally I wouldn't," Ika replied. She attempted to shrug but winced from the pain Lin Yi had caused earlier. 0

Lin Yi smiled faintly in a dazed manner; his expression was somewhat strange as he began muttering to himself about something incomprehensible. The others wanted to offer some words of comfort but ultimately fell silent. 0

In Paris's city center, there were no available accommodations left; thus, members of the Mercenary group resided in the suburbs. The vehicle drove smoothly along the road with little conversation among them. As they passed near Baikal Lake, Tony signaled Akin to stop; he wanted to get out. Seeing that Lin Yi made no objections, no one stopped Tony from leaving. They all returned smoothly to their temporary housing area. 0

Various vehicles came and went in this makeshift living area where people of all backgrounds jostled against one another—an eclectic scene indeed. Once Lin Yi and his group parked in a public lot, they disembarked and walked on foot. The Blood Envoy group of over twenty people quickly became lost in the bustling crowd. It was only then that Lin Yi snapped back to reality but chose not to ask any further questions; he simply followed along with everyone else toward their accommodations. 0

After ten minutes of walking, they finally arrived at a temporary dormitory made from three shipping containers. The dormitory was divided into three rooms: one for male members, one for female members, and a shared bathroom facility. Looking at their rather shabby quarters and recalling the exorbitant hospital bills he had incurred over the past few months made Lin Yi feel a pang of guilt. 0

"Everyone, I'm truly sorry," Lin Yi bowed slightly to express his apologies to the group. 0

Lin Yi's action stirred a commotion among the crowd, and Witerson II quickly stepped forward to support him. 0

"Everyone is tired after a long night. Let's take a break and not accept any missions today," Pachy said, noticing the weary expressions on many faces. 0

Lin Yi nodded in agreement and invited everyone to go inside and rest. Although the area where the male members stayed was relatively spacious, it still appeared cluttered and messy, with various items strewn about haphazardly. Seeing Lin Yi's expression, Witerson II felt a bit embarrassed and said, "We left in such a hurry last night that the place is quite messy." 0

"It's fine; we're all men here!" Lin Yi lightly patted Witerson II's shoulder and continued, "So where will I sleep?" 0

Witerson II glanced around the room, which had fourteen single bunk beds, and realized there were no extra spaces available. 0

"Lin Yi, you can rest on Tony's bed for now. I'll go get another compartment later," Pachy said, patting the back of his head while pointing to Tony's bed. 0

"What about him?" Lin Yi asked, turning back. 0

"He's gone out and won't be back for a while," Pachy replied. 0

Lin Yi acknowledged this with an "oh" and walked over. Although he had been in a deep sleep for over three months, he still felt somewhat fatigued due to his body just recovering. Knowing where he would rest, he simply lay down and fell asleep. The others, seeing that Lin Yi had already settled in, found their own spots to lie down as well. Within minutes, the room was filled with the sounds of snoring. 0

Since waking up from his deep slumber, Lin Yi had been harboring a negative emotion that he hadn't been able to express. Even though he had fallen asleep now, a series of nightmares kept him restless even in his dreams. Eventually, he decided against sleeping but found himself unsure of what else to do while everyone else rested. He lay there tossing and turning until afternoon. Just as Lin Yi drifted off to sleep again, urgent shouts suddenly pierced through the air. 0

He jolted awake, his eyes snapping open to see Witerson II and others looking anxious. Being woken from sleep was frustrating; he suppressed his irritation and asked quietly, "What happened?" 0

"Captain, Tony has been attacked!" Witerson II rushed forward as soon as he saw Lin Yi awake. 0

Lin Yi raised an eyebrow at this news, a fierce aura emanating from him. "What’s going on? Can people just fight here?" 0

"The police are too overwhelmed with those zombies to care about anything else," Wu Hao chimed in from the side. 0

"We need to check it out!" Lin Yi slammed his hand on the edge of the bed and stood up. As he did so, the iron bed frame bent under his force, twisting slightly. 0

Without waiting for anyone else, Lin Yi stormed out ahead of the group, who followed closely behind him. To save time, Pachy took the wheel since he was the best driver among them. A modest minibus sped down the road under Pachy's skilled hands like a top-tier racing car, startling pedestrians who screamed and scrambled out of the way. 0

The car hadn't been driving for long when they arrived at the place where Tony had gotten off that morning. Lin Yi was the first to rush out. Witerson II, who had been lagging behind, finally caught up with Lin Yi and helped him find his way. They quickly reached the exterior of a building with a typical European style, though aside from the few flickering red lights outside, there was nothing particularly special about it. 0

At that moment, Lin Yi heard a series of kicking sounds coming from inside the building, along with faint groans. Without hesitation, he dashed inside and immediately spotted someone curled up on the floor of the lobby. The person seemed to have heard someone enter and turned their head in pain to look. 0

“Tony!” Lin Yi exclaimed as he rushed over. The person on the ground was indeed Tony, bloodied and looking at Lin Yi with a gaze that conveyed a mix of confusion and pain. 0

“Stop right there!” Perhaps annoyed by Lin Yi's disregard or his arrogance, two towering men, each nearly two meters tall, suddenly appeared in front of Lin Yi, blocking his path. 0

Lin Yi didn’t even blink as he said, “Get out of my way!” At that moment, he felt a fire igniting within him, growing stronger by the second. 0

“Hey, this reckless fool hasn’t learned his lesson yet, and now another one has come!” One of the burly men sneered, completely dismissing Lin Yi. 0

Lin Yi glanced up and noticed that both men bore various injuries on their faces; it seemed that Tony had managed to give them some trouble earlier and wasn’t merely a victim. Surrounding Tony were seven or eight muscular men who looked like they were no pushovers either. 0

“Move aside!” Lin Yi repeated, struggling to suppress the violent emotions bubbling within him, even though he desperately wanted to fight. 0

The two men exchanged glances before broadening their shoulders and simultaneously swung their fists toward Lin Yi's face. However, as soon as they began their attack, Lin Yi had already read their movements and instinctively brought his hands up to meet theirs. 0

In an unbelievable turn of events, the fists of these two giants—each larger than an average baby’s head—were easily caught in Lin Yi's hands, which were noticeably smaller but far more agile. Then came the unmistakable sound of bones cracking as both men let out piercing screams of agony. 0
